Dune (2021)
missed details...missed opportunity
To start with, it is a good picture that lacks a lot of context and explanation. The director seemed to assume people either read the book or watched the 1984 Lynch version of Dune!
The whole story lacks a good introduction of the context. Where is the Guild story visiting the emperor and inquiring about his plot in luring the House of Atreides into a trap? This plot line also includes the Bene Gesserit plan to visit and test Paul. A magnificent scene of the "Space Opera" genre is missed, where Villeneuve would have made it look spectacular!
Without continuing further, the film is very slow paced, and the original managed to include most of the story in one film that run 2 hours and 20 minutes, a little less than the first part of this Dune!
Scenes appear to drag on with no real development or a climax that push the plot forward.
Real shame, so many people hoped that the film will show a lot of spectacular pompous scenes of the emperor's palace, the ferocity and the viciousness of the Harkonnens which we didn't feel they are beasty and grim, moving to the Fremen, they look more of modern Bedouins than a people of special skills or powers (except for the blue eyes)!
So many things to mention, but these are the most important elements in the film that are missing and wish it was made different to not miss the opportunity to enter the list of one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time! :(
Dune: Part Two (2024)
Missing storylines, why?
It's a very good movie to start with, but I have some 4 issues, or if I may add, 4 storylines that could have been better addressed and have been better elaborated. To start with, when Paul had to go out in the desert to be tested, Stilgar spooks him with the desert's perils and Djins that he need to be very alarmed with. Now, we are eager to see what will happen to him in the desert! Nope, we don't see all these fearful events, why? There was a big entertainment and a test of Paul's mettle to be witnessed, but for some reason, the film disregards this storyline! Shame. It would have been fun to watch.
The second issue, we don't see Paul raging against the Harkonnen troops except one scene. It doesn't sell the idea that he has become respected by the Fremen. How can a stranger win the hearts of warriors, unless we the audience see him tested in many battles? We missed seeing his courage, strength, and fighting abilities so we believe in him as well.
The third big issue, is when he takes the water of life. Hello! This is a major event, and to this endeavor, we hoped to see a preparation for the scene, a yet a huge ceremony like event where everyone is witnessing this transformation. It is either a miserable-painful death, or a glorification of the new Kwisatz Haderach. This is a huge becoming for a leader, I would have loved to see a mesmerizing enchanting scene. Then, how did the water of life affected him. What did he feel like? How does he relate to the spice and the universe, as it was slightly revealed or pictured in the original 1984 version of Dune. Another big moment that we missed.
Another side issue, in the original version, we see Paul standing high on an elevated platform addressing the Fremen in the millions; we don't see this in the new version. Now, regardless whether the book make sense that there are millions in the south and how come no one was aware of them, or at least, how come they move around without being noticed by all the advanced technologies? Millions not a few hundred like the people in the north. Anyway, a scene with thousands of Fremen fighters gathered to cheer their new leader would have added a lot of visual depth to the plot.
Continuing. This is my last issue. The scene where the emperor comes to Arrakis is so mitigated. This is a space opera scene par excellence, and we missed to see the pompous entourage of the emperor. This could have been a grandiose scene with all the glory of an ending to the movie. The space looked so unfitting to an emperor and the story at large.
Alas, if these storylines were developed and elaborated more, the movie would have been super amazing.
One last thing, Rabban's nickname is the beast. Did anyone feel or view him as such? He doesn't come by as a ferocious beast to me.
The 100: Stealing Fire (2016)
becoming so contrived
I mean how can one be more silly and have bad character evolution than this? Characters switch sides like they flip coins every episode! This is so ridiculous and boring, now has become so predictable. In one episode, suddenly, the nice guys become mean and warlike then in another without any justification or credibility, they switch sides and become docile and naive! This excludes all those who take the pill and get enchanted by it. This make viewers think all the character have bipolar disorder. The way the story folds and develops makes no sense at all on character level which takes along side the plot to utter non-sense. This is season 3 and i am not sure if i continue watching the rest. Next time i make sure to not to follow these writers of the series.
The 100: Hakeldama (2016)
bad bad story telling
What a stupid writing and plot. I mean say Kane is so naive which he is NOT since the very beginning, and gave the command to Pike, still they both could have left the camp and warned the grounders. I mean who is so stupid enough to stay inside and watch events fold? The producers take viewers as idiots or what? Anyone with minimum sensibility know or expects that as soon as Kane tells Pike that he is the commander, Abigail should have left immediately to tell the grounders of the attack. How bland and suspenseless event folded with the current script! Bad story telling with a PhD degree. Great work wise guys: 10 fingers down.
His Dark Materials: The Botanic Garden (2022)
it's all about selling the mantra of sexuality
So, another main message of the writers and this is also part of the bigger plan to brainwash people starting from early schooling, that sex in any way is key to happiness! I mean it is evident that the hollywood establishment with the collaboration of the illuminati want to attack on every Christian value, ridiculing the impact original sin, and taking it away from it's theological context by blaming the Creator for all our human misery. Sexual freedom and expression has become the crux of the New Age ideology where happiness and the end of human suffering is by being sexually liberated and abandoning all forms of religious faith particularly Christian faith. All rebellious behavior justifies this end and brings peace to the world. And Mary's action in removing her cross (as it falls from the bed) is just the exact action that the producers want people to do in order to gain their freedom! This whole scheme that is placed on a high-speed-train of globalization where in the New World Order, to have peace and happiness we are to leave religious values behind and focus on individual freedom and liberty at the expense of familial values and "gone-by" old traditions. So, they want us to rebel and distract us from using our senses to question their motives, i.e., Eve's disobedience in the Garden of Eden is a forbidden subject to discuss and anyone posing question will be either removed or ridiculed or if necessary prosecuted for disturbing the peace. Make no mistake, in a blink of an eye, sooner that anyone would expect, these ideas will invade every home, every family, every city, and it has started already in the US, and parts of Europe. If you think I am naïve, look around, if you are not seeing it, or you think this is not a top conspiracy to change the world, think again and wait few decades and see for yourself is you are still here.
His Dark Materials: The Abyss (2022)
boring
This season is killing the series. It's becoming boring by the episode. Slow, no real drama, but the highlight is what the queen witch said about Eve/Lyra that she was brave to experience (sin) as per the writers ingenious rhetoric! What do you expect he is an atheist and can say whatever his imagination take him to without any remorse, or feeling the guilt of morality. Well, screenwriter or author, Eve disobeyed God, that's is not courage it is disobedience in every meaning of the word. The message of the author/screenwriter is to beguile the audience with bling bling word like courage but in reality he is digressing from the truth of the matter just like injecting honey in a soup of poison. Truth can never be altered nor will deception sugar coat the wisdom of God. So, to all luciferians out there who are working hard to deceive nations, soon you will eat dust and perish.
See: Rock-a-Bye (2021)
Blind Battle! how ridiculous!
Now hold on a minute. How can a blind man know who is he fighting: the enemy or a fellow solider? This is so weird if not stupid. The battle scene is directed in a way that totally not credible. Soldiers fighting like they can see who is attacking and how they are advancing, or drawing a sword, or how to seek the enemy? Totally bizarre that it loses the respect of the audience. I get the premise of the whole story that these are blind but you can't sell it to the audience that they find their way around almost like sighted people and expect people will believe it or respect what they see. One can almost put up with it until this episode, the battle scene. It is too much tolerate this nonsense.
See: Forever (2021)
Waste of due dramatic clash
First, where and how is Tamacti alive? Unless we see a flashback on how he survived, this news is poor writing. I mean, if he escaped, everyone, including the queen would search for his body, which we didn't see happen. Second, naturally, as he survived, why on earth would he end up with Baba in prison? Now the most poor writing and event was the scene when the queen kills Boots without giving us the chance to see him confront both Tofun, Haniwa, and Baba! This is my only take on this episode. The drama between the two girls is promising, and we anticipate to see them meet again. But overall, killing Tamacti and reviving him like the stuff or events that happen in cartoons is so childish and contrived for now.
