One More Time (2023)
A time loop movie but with all the feels.
I wouldn't say I was excited to watch this because we know how all time travel and time loop movies go. Similar to Groundhog Day Amelia, a 40 something woman, who's quite a loser, relives her 18th birthday day after day. And while it's fun, she realises that life at 18 is really self centered.
Although the movie is predictable, its beautiful to see the different interactions of the characters, all while realising that it's not about her. It's the nuances that do it for me. The story of rekindling relationships, of starting again even if it's 22 years later or having a second chance to do things right.
Kurak Günler (2022)
Kept me on the edge of my seat
There's alot of nuances and layers to this film, playing with different genres and themes. And honestly, that's what I love about it. It's explores a variety of topics, yet it all comes together to point to the fundamental issue of the cracks and sinkhole of a society, quite literally, and how the outsider or individual feels the odds stacked against them when power is at play. Even the protagonist, we see him deal with his own internal desires and conflict of trying to do his job and be a figure of authority while also not being able to do much in a corrupt, conservative society. Loved it!!!!
The Man with the Answers (2021)
It's a Yes from me
This movie was everything I hoped and I absolutely loved it. It was a simple, beautiful film that wasn't this epic drama or have a great Romance but I wouldn't have had it any other way. I was pulled in instantly by the comedic and witty dialogues, the music and the banter between the actors. It's just a film about a young man, his car and a stranger he travels with. Simple, but tugs at your heartstrings. Life doesn't have to be complex to be beautiful, it just has to BE.
