Dark Light (2019)

Not bad for a terrible scary movie
28 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Interesting take on the C. H. U. D./Reptilian hallow earth dweller theory. The execution leaves much to be desired as the physics and function of tue creatures is extremely inconsistent. It's the classic "mom saves daughter" storyline with numerous plot holes and a woefully predictable ending. You could watch worse movies but you could also watch better ones....

Not terrible, but not great.

Warning: Spoilers
It has an awesome cast. However it treats autistic kids and autism like a completely different species in which the characters can't seem to ask the simplest of questions or put together the most mundane of clues. The parents aren't doing great seeing as how their teenage daughter is annoying and their autistic son has a lengthy relationship with evil Native American spirits. It's spooky and it has some good parts and a "feel-good" ending, but I would say this is far from an amazing horror film.

Just watch "A Quiet Place."

Warning: Spoilers
I love Stanley Tucci. Other than that this film is a "meh" at best. The bird-like creatures are inconsistent as well as the supporting lore. The characters are weak and annoying. They used ASL even when the characters were speaking at full volume with other characters who weren't deaf (and no deaf characters in the same room) which was really weird but hilarious at certain parts. The monsters were not scary or intimidating in any way (IMO). I would say just watch A Quiet Place and see it done properly then watch this and laugh or snooze.

Absolutely dreadful

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is terrible from the beginning to the very last second. (No joke). It is an attempt to shed light on the Bosnian genocide/Serb-Bosnian civil war of the 90's. But it does so in the most ham-fisted, non-sly way with the writers hitting the viewer right on the nose but in no way that makes sense or gives them any feeling whatsoever except for feeling that the main character's boyfriend is a wuss. There are numerous situations in which the characters could get away or incapacitate/kill their captors and they don't. There is hardly any satisfying conclusions, a really confusing ending, and numerous close-ups of people's sweaty necks. Watch this film to say you did it, and get a good nap in because this one is a fizzle at best.
