Summer in the Vineyard (2017)
Perfect TV Movie with More Scope
A vineyard owned by a couple volunteers to host the summer festival of their town in their vineyard. The couple faces challenges, and the movie is about how they deal with those difficulties.
The movie is a sequel to Autumn in the Vineyard, released in 2018. If you haven't watched that movie, you cannot follow the story. The movie is beautiful and sweet, and its prequel reminds us all the time that it's a TV movie. The movie had a huge scope of romance, but none was utilised by the makers. Instead, the movie's entire focus is on the logistics of hosting the festival.
There's no expression of love among the couple except for a few short kiss scenes. The movie could have turned into a cult classic if the makers had intended the movie to be more romantic.
Wasted potential.
Autumn in the Vineyard (2016)
Beautiful and charming
The movie is about two childhood friends who are now forced to work in the vineyard until their legal dispute is resolved.
The movie is sweet and cute with the beautiful location where it was shot. The movie is thousand times better than the Netflix rom-coms. The movie is short but well balanced without unnecessary over-acting like most rom-coms, but this movie is very different and well made. The movie even surpassed even some mainstream rom-coms.
The movie from the beginning until the end will keep your face smiling. The good casting of the lead characters overshadows the weaker points of the movie. This movie is an absolute yes to watch for me.
5 to 7 (2014)
Love is hard to feel for the viewers, yet adorable.
The story is about a young, 24-year-old aspiring writer. Who, one day, while crossing the street, sees a stranger French woman smoking in a corner of New York City.
He goes there to meet her, and they quickly turn into friends, and even more than friends as the movie progresses. She sets up a condition that they would only meet further after their first meeting, under the condition that the meeting must be between 5 and 7 PM. For more, watch the movie.
While the movie was overall enjoyable, the story and their love didn't have as much depth and passion as the movie tried to tell us. The movie has a couple of funny scenes, which I very much liked and enjoyed.
The very concept of 5 to 7 in the movie was alien to me, so I did have a surprise as much as the writer did in the movie. There's a dialogue in the movie: "Maybe there are some people you marry and people you love." That's, in my view, pretty iconic and meaningful. I give this movie a 5 out of 10. Certain aspects of the movie, like the bad casting (my personal opinion) and the lack of passion and depth in their relationship, cut 5 stars from my ratings.
The Prince of Tides (1991)
Beautiful as the movie progressed.
The movie follows the story of Tom and his sister, who survive a failed suicide attempt and end up in the hospital under the care of a psychiatrist. Tom is contacted by the psychiatrist to provide an interview while his sister is in a coma, and during their conversations, many family secrets are revealed. The film explores themes of pain, love, tragedy, trauma, and emotion, with moments of comedy interspersed throughout, particularly in the interactions between Tom and the psychiatrist.
While I initially found the movie to be slow-paced, it gradually became more engaging and beautiful as it progressed. However, I personally feel that the casting could have been improved. Nonetheless, I recommend the movie to those who enjoy films centered around romance with elements of adultery ,tragedy and dysfunctional family.
Chloe (2009)
A Deceptive Seductress and a skeptic Wife
The movie is about an insecure wife who hired a woman to approach her husband.
When I read about the story of the movie, it got me interested enough to watch it, but the movie simply did not amuse and excite me the way the story did when I read it.
The movie was unconvincing to me. The way she fell for her lies and how idiotic she is to believe all those without any evidence. The movie had a fantastic cast but couldn't do justice to them, but still, it kept me engaged with the movie till the end, so it's not an unwatchable movie either.
The dialogues too were below average; the only exception is when her husband says what he liked in a woman. The dialogue was during an argument.
