Do Not Disturb (2023)
You can't disturb the disturbed.
Well let's be honest. Turkish cinema is not one of the brightest these days. We have Nuri Bilge Ceylan doing some arthouse movies once in a couple years taking away Cannes prizes and thats it. Thank God there is another man who tries to do something new with each of his projects. Cem Yilmaz. He seems like Fellini and Benigni's love child with some hardcore Turkish ancestry. In this movie he somehow did manage to show us the whole country with only a handful of actors and one stage. We all are already disturbed. Every one of us just wanna have o normal life. A bit of happiness. Love for sure. Why is it so hard to some to achieve such basic needs? Is it their fault? Is it because of everyone else? The pandemic? God? I dont know! Neither does Isac! He tries and hopes for the best. Just like you and me. Not gonna lie, a little bit more like me.
Midnight Express (1978)
Lies, lies lies...
In 1974, Türkiye did not listen to the words of the United States and carried out the Cyprus operation. After that, Turkey, which was embargoed by the United States, was also the victim of this bespoke film.
According to Hayes, both Stone and Parker misrepresented his experiences during his incarceration and included gross exaggerations of his treatment in jail and of his encounters with Turks during that time. Hayes told reporters in Istanbul that he has been trying for years to correct these misperceptions in the media, but that his voice was drowned by the powerful images created by the film and its makers. Underlining that he had made friendships with many Turks, before and after he was incarcerated, he noted that the movie's storyline did not depict even one such "good Turk."
Long story short, this movie is one of the first cancel culture experiments in history. If any of you feel sorry for Billy because of what he went through in the movie, just know that he didn't...
Terrifier 2 (2022)
Wow!!!
It was a movie that did what the big studios couldn't. I was disgusted, shuddered, laughed and excited. The production looks like an amateur film and manages to do things that professionals cannot do. I think we have a modern icon brought into horror cinema. The only thing that worries me is that the scenes shot with children are such that they can cause mental problems. Normally, the scenes where children will play are shot separately so that they cannot witness the brutality. I guess it wasn't paid much attention because it was an independent production.
Apart from that, I think it is a wonderful example of the exploitation cinema that we miss from the 80s.
Halloween Ends (2022)
Michael My Ears!!!
1 hour 40 minutes long movie with 15 minutes of Michael! Why? Why cant you see that we want him instead of your boring conversations and the story that no one carres about?
A 1 hour 40 minutes long compilation of Michael killing people is 10 times better than this. Please guys, you need to understand that a horror icon killer deserves more then 15 minutes in his/her movie! We really dont care about the familly issues, your love stories or struggles in life. There are many movies doing this part way better!
Do you really think that you can show us a better drama than for example "a marriage story"? No? Shawshank Redemption? No? Why the hell are you tryn for God sake, take the camera, write a script about Michael Myers returns to the neighborhood and kills who ever gets in his way! Finito! The end! That's it!
Hellraiser (2022)
Save your breath for screaming!
When you remember the garbage we watched after the first two movies, you realize that we should give the necessary support to this movie. They have managed to do a very successful job in line with Clive Barker's vision and without doing cheap tricks. The only problem with the movie is the first half. You just have to wait like you do for Lynyrd Skynyrd's solo at the end of Freebird, to get your reward in return. The ending gets more and more disturbing as you keep thinking over it. Imagining what happenes there would happen to you gives you a Lovecraftian shiver. The Cenobites are well created. You don't care for the others tho. Could not relate to any of the characters. Would love to see a sequel, or prequel. Or a sequel to a prequel that is the sequel to a prequel i dont know. Its crazy these days..
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Partings (2022)
Wake me up before you go go...
No matter what series it is, I always give them 5 episodes to wrap up and settle the issue. This is the 5th.
No, friends, the series is not recovering. A black elf is not the problem! I love the portrayal of a strong woman! I live in an eastern country and have nothing to do with the interesting problems of westerners. Color doesn't matter to us! We like strong women! The series is poorly written and neither the effort of the actors nor the great art design can save it. I'm not so excited...I get even more excited when I see a butterfly! This is very difficult to achieve. Orcs are on their way to attack, I don't care! The Numenoreans are on their way, I don't care! In the whole series, only Durin and Elrond's scenes catch my attention, that's all! Non logical things are flying around! Characters go out of their character! They should just call this "Rings Of Power" leaving the name LOTR out of it. Even the so called "bad" Hobbit's scene where the White Council fights against Nazgûls Dol Guldur is better then all 5 episodes and it is just 3 minutes long! Stop protecting bad things just because of your ideals...
