A Knife in the Dark (2024)
"A Knife in the Dark" has no edge
Far from the giallo masterpiece 'A Blade in the Dark' (or 'La casa con la scala nel buio'), Joe Sherlock's 'A Knife in the Dark' might mislead with its title, but it lacks any real substance. This film shouldn't be mistaken for the typical Sherlock flair; it predominantly features novice actors confined to a suburban setting, engaging in endless dialogue that barely progresses the narrative. It appears the film's aim is to stretch the content to reach a feature-length runtime, devoid of the inventive SOV gags or the playful inclusion of voluptuous fun gratuitous nudity, leaving viewers with nothing but prolonged conversations. Try "Zombie Chronicles: Infection Zone" instead.
Galaxy Warriors (2022)
Exploitation Without Any Exploitation
Galaxy Warriors (2022) attempts an homage to '80s sci-fi but misses the mark. Lacking the edginess and boldness of its predecessors like Galaxy of Terror and Forbidden World, it falls flat with a confused target audience. It's a tale of a female bounty hunter on a prison planet, aiming for nostalgia but forgetting key elements that defined the genre: a mix of horror, exploitation, and yes, nudity. These ingredients catered to a specific fan base, blending bad gags with daring content. Galaxy Warriors, unfortunately, feels like a spoon in a drawer of knives-safe, but uninspiring. Skip this one and just rewatch the classics.
After Truth: Disinformation and the Cost of Fake News (2020)
Even as a left leaning person this is a terrible film
Remember when documentaries were investigative and covered both sides of a topic? So much disinformation by CNN, MSNBC, etc aren't touched. Anything that might blow the liberal talking points are ignored.
"Hands Up Don't Shoot" in the Michael Brown shooting for example was proven to be a lie in court but left leaning media spread it so hard and caused so much hysteria on that lie it caused riots, deaths, assaults, millions of dollars in damage... it was probably the biggest 'fake news' of the last decade but ignored here. Certainly WAY more destructive than 'pizzagate'.
This movie comes off as jealous of Fox News popularity than actually covering a fake news problem.
