The Con, The Greed, The Homosexuality
6 September 2007
Every once and awhile, seemingly always at the oddest of times, I finally sit down to watch one of those films that everyone's heard of, but no one has seen. And every once and awhile I find a film that stirs my passion for storytelling.

Six Degrees of Separation will most likely never be understood, as the themes and allusions are often colored and complex. Even this writer doesn't begin to fully understand everything Guare is trying to say. It is however, quite disappointing, that in all of the internet chatter Google may churn out, the themes of homosexuality are ignored as if they have absolutely no bearing on the story. They are as vital a part of the story as is Louisa's breakdown scene, and Flan's realization that he does actually love Paul.

So, when you're at the video store, bored with the drivel Hollywood pukes out these days, pick this film up. Pay close attention to the cracks that begin to form in the characters, and run your fingers along those cracks to the end, and you may find yourself caught up in a story with a star shaped meaning. But be careful, it is the type of story that may have you looking inside yourself and who you're connected to.

One of the best movies made!
25 April 2002
This is by far one of the best movies on the market today, it's to bad the advertising didn't bring in the money at the theaters. A mistake thats happened with lots of great movies.

This movie is to-well acted(not a bad thing), to the fact that I was actually crying at some parts, which is something I don't do very often, for anything.

I have not found a thing wrong with this movie, this movie is an emotional rollercoaster. Speilberg did an excellent job of taking over the story. I've heard this film regarded to as 'Un-intelligent' this is completely false. For those who missed the main moral message in the story, it is that human's have no right to make life. The boy in the film is emotional, and feels the sting of society. And yet the world seems to approve of creating life, by Cloning, and creating AI.

For those who didn't feel something while watching this film, something wrong, your 'emotionaly constipated'. How can you not feel the emotions played by Haley Joel Osmet, and not feel symathy for his character.

The ending was perfect, it left us in a state to reconsider our own lives, or at least that's what I felt. If anything it promotes peace, and the need to stop playing 'GOD'.

If you haven't seen it yet, go buy it, and when your done you'll sit in your chair silent.

The ACADEMY should have awarded more to this film, Haley Joel Osmet should have took Denzel's Oscar home (at least they didn't give any oscars to Peter Jackson for his slaugher of the LOTR Screenplay), The acting was phenomonal, as stated above.

10.9/10

Go... Watch.. NOW!!

Armageddon (1998)
A Great Movie
24 April 2002
I don't understand the criticism of this film. I admit that some parts are fictionalized to make the story flow better.

As for sending 'lunatics' into space, what would you do with eighteen days? It's never happened, and until it does you don't know to what extent NASA will go to.

The story in this film is excellent, it provides so much of what we look for in films, sci-fi, action, drama, and humour. None of it is overbearing.

When watching a film don't over-analize it, because it's not entertainment. As for the old 'GREATS' in film-making, if these are so great, and demontrate the highs of film-making, than why aren't they very popular, musicals, people singing-in-the-rain, what is so great about that?

Don't comment on gravity if you have no understanding of physics!!!!

I give this film 9/10

Smallville (2001–2017)
People Are Too Negative
15 April 2002
Warning: Spoilers
I have read alot of the comments on smallville, and I wonder why some people continue to watch it? Because they like it, these people know stuff from almost every show, and that is in their message. Why do they keep watching it? Because it's an Excellent new show.

The story of Superman is about 50 years old, although I have never read the comics, I have watched the movies, and some of the cartoon. Superman was generated for a completely different generation, and I am happy to see a new-spin put on the show.

--- Possible spoiler ---

The friendship between Clark and Lex, hasn't been the main focus about the change in the show, but I would like to comment on it. I think that by making Clark and Lex young-friends will only make their falling-out more interesting, and make the fact that Clark's Arc-enemy more than the usuall enemies we see in the weekly show, or even in the movies.

As I've said I never read the Comics, so I don't get the discussion about Lana, and Pete. I think that the story is great so far with them.

I would like to discuss more in the forums, but no one seems to go there and leave messages, so I invite anyone wishing to educate me on the comics, and original story, and to discuss the plot to go to the message boards.

I would also like to know if anyone thinks that the Actor's in 'Smallville' would make an excellent resurrection of the movie(s). As far as movies go I could see using smallville as a the template for a movie an excellent Idea, especially with the advances in special effects, when the series is done the special effects will be great, but the original superman movies just don't look real.

To anyone who is considering watching the series; Try it, I don't find a very strong resemblance between 'Smallville' and 'Dawson's Creek'.

Thanks,

Rob

Smallville (2001–2017)
One of the most promising shows on TV
10 April 2002
I read an earlier comment on 'SMALLVILLE' that refers to it being like 'Dawson's Creek'. I would have to disagree, 'SMALLVILLE' isn't very soap-opera like. If you haven't watched this show yet, watch it, it's on a bunch of channels on different days. If you liked the superman films at all, or the comics, than you can't miss this one.
