Maybe It's You (2023)
Don't Bother - Horrible
I am disgusted I wasted my time on this movie.
I found the characters to be extremely annoying, some even downright unlikable. I couldn't stand the "banter" between the two main characters. It was grating. In my opinion, none of the characters had any chemistry with each other, so the fact this was meant to be a rom-com is a head scratcher.
I know a lot of people are unhappy with the ending, which I can understand. But given how the entire movie went, I was not shocked with how it played out.
I would warn if you are lookong for a fun, pick me up movie to steer clear of this one. This movie did not bring any smiles to my face, and I did not laugh once.
Where Your Heart Belongs (2022)
Female Lead Character Is Horrendous
I am well aware of the Hallmark movie playbook and all the cheesiness that comes along with it. Usually it is good for a mindless 2 hours, but this movie was beyond terrible for one glaring reason: the lead female character. Mac is incredibly unlikable, selfish, self-absorbed and written as a complete moron. She leaves a viewer unable to root for the happy ending. The only reason I was able to finish it, after falling asleep twice during viewing, is my stubbornness to always finish what I start. Don't waste your time on this mess.
Panic (2021)
Loved It!
I am one who reads a lot and normally prefers the book to the screen version, but this is the exact opposite case here! I was not a fan of the characters in the book as much, whereas in the TV show I was rooting for them more, finding them to be more "fleshed out." I couldn't stop going from episode to episode, a true binge worthy show in my opinion. I watched all 10 episodes in one sitting (and of course was sad when it was over, just because there were no more episodes). Overall, I see it as a show worthy of a high ratung because it is something I have been and will continue to watch over and over again (I am on my 11th go around as I type this and I am not one to watch something over and over again ever). There is just "something" that works in this show. With that being said, below are my thoughts on the good and the 'eh' if you are looking for the "nit-picky."
I can see how people are saying parts are unrealistic, but it is entertainment and I was certainly entertained. The stunts were mostly cool, though you could tell what was CGI and what wasn't. I had more trouble telling when they were using stunt doubles, thinking that some of the actors did more of the action work than I would have thought. There were some continuity issues here and there, but nothing too glaring (in all fairness, I notice this in shows/movies all the time).
The music for the series was really good, which led me to download a bunch of new songs. I enjoyed a lot of the actors and how they were cast for the roles, particularly one actor. They were spot on and if this doesn't propel them to stardom I would be surprised.
My biggest "complaint" of the series was the lack of screen time between two characters that I felt played really well off each other (I won't say which two, as to not spoil anything). This was not renewed for a second season, but works as a standalone single season.
