Absolutely Touching
15 January 2023
What a touching film. I came into it with no expectations as it was recommended to me by a friend. It first starts off as a normal rom com and I suspected it would follow the same story line as do so many rom coms. As it twisted and turned the characters grew in a different way to how I would have expected it to. Character development is so important in films, almost as-or even more important, than the actual story. This was the case in this film; I felt as if I was growing with the main character with every step. This film so beautifully unraveled the main characters journey into self acceptance that it made me feel something so deep I have never felt before in a film. Themes of fatherhood were so brilliantly expressed towards the end it had me sobbing uncontrollably with such relatability and connection between Tim and his father. Despite the outlandish idea the film proposes (could it be considered sci-fi?), it so exquisitely subdues the absurdity with English humour that has you believing in it completely. What a terrific story. What incredible emotions this film can elicit, especially towards the end. Absolutely recommend watching it!

Fresh and good enough
3 December 2022
Got me hooked to watch the whole thing in two days after work. Good writing, story was good and kept you wondering who done it. It needed to show longer pauses when the camera shot was on pieces of paper or texts; I couldn't read what it said. Character development was slow, Miki did develop somewhat and the story had enough movement to keep you watching. There were some good acting moments notably from the "good news in a box moment" around the table, that moment was very believable. It just showcases a very Australian way of life from chops for dinner, Vegemite toast, pub life, driving Holdens, yeah m8. Good job 👍🏻

Actually quite nice
12 November 2022
I had lower expectations for the film based on the IMDB rating but overall it was a good film. Acting was good, character development was there, I didn't find it predictable as others thought, I just enjoyed the ride. Easy to watch, Demi Moore is great for romance films, it's her speciality. Great to see her again. Baldwin played great. There was a certain east movement and development to the film. It tended to just evolve like rolling wine in a glass. I think if you wanted to just watch an easy film that will not spike your blood too much and just gently roll you into the night it is worth watching.

Needed a better ending
13 August 2022
Acting was superb from Javier. He played villains in other films such as one of the later James Bond films but nothing is as menacing and twisted as the character he created here. Watching him was a great example of character acting. As the movie progresses there are more and more series of misfortunes which starts to become more tasteless, finishing with an ending of bitterness and a feeling of something unresolved. The only reason to watch again would be to see a deeply crafted character Javier had created, the story especially the ending could of been changed to make this more of a classic.

The Genius Reveals Itself Towards The End
12 August 2022
The beginning was quite cringe and not very funny. The first few episodes were hard to watch, not many laughs. But since I was a fan of the US office I kept persisting. Towards the end of season 1 it became much more funnier and you could see slowly the unravelling of Ricky's genius coming out. I was laughing at nearly every scene in season 2 (only 2 episodes)! Across the entire series you could really see his comedic style blossom and mature into what he has become after the office. Persist past the first few episodes (maybe 6), and you will thoroughly enjoy the last parts and a very satisfying ending.

A perfect thriller
9 July 2021
Such a great film that flew under the radar years ago and was so glad to have watched this film as it completely blew me away. The acting of both main and supporting actors were very spectacular. The chemistry was totally believable. I must say this is one of the top acting films from Brad Pitt, the vulnerability was very clear and brilliant. The story line had you on the edge of your seat for most of the last three quarters of the film. Overall, watch it! A perfect thriller.

Drama fuelled, dialogue packed experience
7 July 2021
The shear amount of dialogue and impressive array of dramatic themes makes this a very well made film. The character development is strong across the breadth of different characters, with a very mysterious story line that keeps unfolding as more and more information is unravelled. Overall, a great film to experience some mystery and dialogue impressive scenes.

Very warm good feeling film that touches the heart
5 July 2021
This film was fabulous. In particular mention was the superb acting of Rupert Friend, that brought the depth of emotion to this film. He was the rudder of introspection that kept the film moving throughout themes of past loves and loving parents. The connection between Mrs. Palfrey and the character of Rupert Friend had a beautiful evolution where the deep stroke of the films success was in the final expression of Rupert Friend's appreciation of Mrs. Palfreys gift of a loving relationship. Overall, a wonderful feel good film that however being on the lower budget level, still leaves you feeling warmly touched from something that one would expect to come from a higher budget production film. 8/10 IMDB rating.

Nice film
4 July 2021
Good film depicting her life before fame. There was a lot more content on her life before becoming famous. It didn't depict much suffering/hardship to her rise, neither did it show much character development. Overall, a nice film to appreciate her stylistic choices and individuality, but lacked in plot and character development.

First part masterpiece, second part lost it's climax
30 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The first part (DVD 1) was an absolute master piece and a definite 9/10 for film making even for these times. It was perfectly built up from the beginning of Moses's life until he witnesses the burning bush. The character development was very well crafted, drawing you into the transformation of Moses from Prince of Egypt to an enlightened man of God. This in itself (DVD 1) was a powerful story of mans transformation by the Divine, which had you soaring in heights of wonder and introspection. The second DVD however, shows the deliverance of the slaves from their bondage from the pharaoh but seems like the development of the main character Moses, was lost altogether. The second DVD was more informational at most and important to history but did not add much to the overall film's objective of gripping story telling. Overall, probably the best film to describe Moses life and message, but if you only see the first DVD, you won't miss much on film experience by missing out on the second DVD.

Powerful acting but too many words at times
30 June 2021
Very strong acting from Denzel and Viola, some quite powerful moments were captured here. The raw emotions captured in this film were under my suspicion of being unscripted (eg. Denzel hitting pots in kitchen). These moments are very powerful and were nice to see. The overall story really provoked some strong emotions in me of the family life themes that I can assume are quite common and universal. It seemed like there were too many words at times and one had to be quite attentive to hear what every word was being said. The accents were quite strong to hear the English clearly, despite being a native English speaker myself. The mass of words in high speed sometimes were not required and more suited for a live theatre setting rather than film. It seemed like it was a bit too long overall too. Overall, worth watching for something a little different and great acting.

Needed a more complete ending
30 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Was a great film, well made and a great testament to Whitney Houston's life. It was built so well and would of been an 8/10 as a really great film because the ending had her biggest song cut off at the beginning. A better ending could have been a full live performance of "I Will Always Love You", that would of perfectly summed up and concluded her life's work brilliantly. The attempt to cut off the beginning of this song left you feeling like something was missing.

Well made but too impactful
30 June 2021
Very well made film. It was very thrilling and each scene had you wondering what was coming next. The ending with the violence was disproportionate to the very well crafted first 3/4s off the film. After it has you feeling a bit disturbed, well made but the ending was too violent for good taste.

Takes you up and then "through"
11 June 2021
There are few movies that have the ability to do what this movie can. I am writing this review after finishing watching this film again on TV. The deep character development of the two main characters gets you so invested into the film, that you feel as if you know them. Then as the film unfolds and is resolved you are taken up in your being and then right towards the end you are taken "through". A truly perfect film in cinema. The height of idealism in all its glory. A perfect example of the height of brilliant film making and artistic craftsmanship. A movie that will be in museums. If you are watching this for the first time, it will be an experience you will never forget.
