The Patient: Intake (2022)
Too short
It's a shame because if they released all of the episodes at once, the suspense would make sense. By the time the next episode comes out a week from now, all of the tension and mystery will be long gone and it's easy to assume that the next episode will likely leave me feeling the same. Drawn out Tarantino-like establishing shots work in Tarantino movies because they're typically 3 hours long. It doesn't work in a 20 minute episode once a week. It's too slow for the short run time and spread out episode releases.
All of that being said, I have enjoyed it so far but I'll probably wait until they release all of the episodes so I can actually get the experience they were going for until Hulu made the terrible decision to space it out weekly. Taking a series that would make a heck of a weekend binge watch and dragging it out over 2 months.
South Park: The Streaming Wars Part 2 (2022)
The irony of people saying South Park is toilet humor..
Most people have no idea "Imaginationland" was about the middle east. The majority of episodes have a deep satire based on history they don't teach you at universities. This episode is about something most people don't know is even happening and Matt n Trey are trying to dumb the depth of satire so much more, yet it goes right over your head. Enjoy your piss.
Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (2022)
Becoming one of my favorites
Started somewhat slow but it gets better and better each episode. I like the history aspect combined with how raunchy and real it is. John C Reilly is owning this role!
The Adam Project (2022)
Solid movie
Probably my favorite action movie of the year. More well rounded and better executed plot than "Free Guy" .
They could have had more gore and adult language to make it rated R, and if young Adam wasn't cussing, it could have been close to PG.
If it wasn't for that, I would say it's a great family movie with positive moral lessons.
Trading Paint (2019)
Easy watch, family movie, makes most sense to racing community
Otherwise a lot of this movie won't make sense. It should be a 6.2, but it's so niche that the average viewers don't relate.. It's not over exaggerated, and intentionally captures a more realistic perspective.
I enjoyed it because I grew up in Charlotte where racing is second nature. Even moms in minivans are 4 wide going 100 down the highway every day.
The Lost Daughter (2021)
I guess inflation hit the imdb ratings too
Who in their right mind watched this and gave it anything above a 6?
I'll tell you what the whole movie is about.
Nothing. An older English woman watching a family do nothing except cheat on their husbands. The English woman steals a kids doll, one of the moms get mad about it and end of movie.
It's a 6.9 right now but by the time all of the people like me get tricked into watching this because of the good reviews, this will be a 5.9 at best.
Emily in Paris (2020)
Emily gets passed around Paris
It's a man's world and Em is swimming in all it has to offer. It's a woman's show starring women, and written by women. It's a fantasy series but not Sci fi.
14 Minutes from Earth (2016)
Perfect example of why engineering is more than math.
Unfortunately, engineering has become some math cult you have to suffer through. Frying your brain to memorize formulas that a smart engineer would simply design a program for. Now you have a bunch of "certified" engineers who have lost grasp with common sense. Sending this guy 20 miles in the air and don't even have the most basic procedure solidified.
South Park: Post Covid (2021)
South Park used to be more sophisticated
It used to be more clever with an underlying metaphor that I loved. For example, Imaginationland was about the middle east being invaded. People who think South Park is dumb are actually the dumb ones and I always thought that was funny. Now it's become more and more in-your-face slapstick comedy that is getting away from that. Still funny, but not what it used to be. Are Stone and Parker really still writing the show?
Chuck's World (2016)
Luckily it was in my recommended on Hulu.
I like the traditions and customs of different countries but especially enjoy seeing the foods and ingredients. Chuck seems like a cool honest guy so the show doesn't come off as a fake personality going through the hoops.
