Full House: D.J. Tanner's Day Off (1988)
Season 1: A Good Start
I really enjoy season 1 for what it is, it feels quite raw, and probably feels the most realistic and grounded of all seasons. With this season having the most focus on Pam who died in a car accident (later on we realize from a drunk driver). With episodes like the "Our Very first Show, and The Miracle of Thanksgiving" having great performances by the actors. This show has always done a good job at handling more serious topics and balancing comedy well. I love the gag only in season one of Joey (Dave Coulier) mirroring the mannequin clothes in the alcove. We have some of my favorite episodes in this season, like "The Big Three 0", "The Miracle of Thanksgiving", "Joeys Place", and "Our Very First show". The beginning of this season is really strong with the first three episodes being some of my favorites.
This season does have some weaker episodes like "Sea Cruise", "The return of Grandma", "But Seriousply Folks", "Half a love story", and "Jesse's girl" I wouldn't say any of them are bad, because I never skip them (except sometimes "But Seriously Folks"), but there's some parts in them that I notice that either don't fit the character and our experiencing with different ideas. Honestly I like idea of "Sea Cruise" with just a guys episode, but it's just kind of slow for me. Also the house doesn't feel full yet I know there is already 6 living there which is quite a lot, but we don't have aunt Becky, Comet, Nicky and Alex, and Steve and Kimmy feel like they live at the house in the later seasons. Kimmy only has three episode appearances in season 1, which is crazy I did not realize that until I did the math (4 including a spoken mention in the pilot). Overall raw season and good start. Wish more seasons explored Pam's character more. There's only a couple of more heavily featuring her.
Rough Rating- 81% B-
This episode "Dj Tanners Day off" is above average for me, it's fun. I always love this side of Joey and miss it, wish we saw more of it. That's why "Joey Gets Tough" is one of my favorites.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Frank vs. Russia (2023)
"KILL THE WIFI, KILL THE WIFI"
This is the first review I have written for the season, but wow we are halfway done already and I hate it. Even 2 more episodes would be fine, but 8 is just not enough. It also sucks that this season has been the best I would say since since season 12. This episode might be my favorite episode, since 'Times up for the Gang'. There has not been a weak episode all season. It seems the like the crew of IASIP is taking the criticisms of the last couple of seasons, like the side characters missing, as well as focusing too hard on the issues happening around the world.
This episode was great both plot lines were really good. The main one with Frank, Charlie, and Uncle Jack is hilarious. This plot has Frank competing in a chess competition with a Russian grand master. Just having uncle Jack in because they are borrowing his spy stuff is hilarious to me. I just love uncle Jack so anytime he is in an episode, it's a win. The joke with the ice cream truck was random, but hilarious "There's no ice cream", I knew exactly where it was going, but made me laugh so hard. The other Uncle Jack joke with him asking to get a picture of the kid Frank was versing was also great. Charlies line delivery of "What am I suppose to drink whine or something" is great. Whenever they have conversations with normal people it's great. I'm just surprised Charlie gave it up so fast. Charlies mom was also in the episode not for very long, but made her presence known, "Charlie and Frank are gonna play spies" and the binoculars she made with her hands is top tier. Also love the call backs to previous episodes like in the very beginning with 'Mac Finds his Pride'. In the very beginning frank says he's not homophobic any more since Macs dance, and then instantly takes it back when Mac brings up anal beads, as well as good foreshadowing to the end of the episode. We also got another surprise shoutout to another episode 'The Dennis System' one of my favorite episodes of the whole show. In the B plot Dennis "helps" Mac and Dee find boyfriends. It sounds like nothing special, but it was hilarious. The decision to do a Dennis System for getting a dude was hilarious and also choosing to call it Sinned, Dennis spelled backwards was simple but great writing that I didn't catch onto until they revealed it. Mac and Dee's faces were hilarious in that scene a lot like mine. The scene with Dennis going over each letter and then cutting to dee and mac in the restaurant using the tactics was hilarious. As well as Kaitlyn Olsons line delivery of "Grabbing your ding dong" with food in her mouth, is just too good.
The ending is also hilarious with going back to the cold open and now knowing they roofied Frank and stuck an anal bead up his cheeks is messed up and so funny and Dennis face in that montage of him messing with Frank and then the phone breaking. It was actually insane the gang took a dub with Frank actually beating the Russian grandmaster, all thanks to the anal bead 💀. I love the ending shot of Charlie celebrating with Frank and him yelling "Kill the WiFi, it was quite quiet and almost missed it but it made me laugh so hard. Also I think they called back to 'Charlie Goes America all over everybody's a**' with him wearing the same bandana a good subtle one not everyone will catch. I really liked what they did with Dennis in this episode, he wasn't just psycho for no reason, the entire gang were asking help for Dennis and he was loosing it. So his anal bead ploy at the end makes sense and the finale of this season 'Dennis takes a Mental Health Day' will be more satisfying since the gang have actually been quite reliant on him as of late. A great episode honestly my only gripe is quite small but it seemed like they were gonna do a plot of Charlie and frank sneaking in beer but then nothing ever happens. It could have just been a throwaway joke, but it seemed like they were gonna do more with it. This ep I want to give a 10, but I won't for now, since I've only seen it once. One of the best of the season so far.
*Edit (7/6/23)- after multiple viewings and watching the last couple of episodes. So far this is my favorite episode of the season and the best episode imo since "Times Up for the Gang"
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005)
One of the Best TV Comedies of all time
One of the best written, acted, and consistent tv comedies I've ever seen and think that has a large part to do with the characters as well as how the show is made. Our fun loving bunch consist of Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Charlie (Charlie Day), Mac (Rob McElhenney), Frank (Danny Devito), and Dee (Kaitlyn Olson). They all own a bar called Paddys Pub and get into terribly funny situations. The characters are written as the worst people in the world and your not suppose to like them, and they aren't suppose to learn from them mistakes, and is one huge reason why it's so successful and doesn't feel stale still after 15 seasons. As well as the main 3 guys Charlie, Mac, and Dennis writing and starting in the show, which really helps it keep from having silly continuity errors that most tv comedies face (most of the time, it's not perfect, nothing is).
Now after seeing the show multiple times I'm not gonna sit here and say every episode is a 10/10 but this show has multiple of some of my favorites tv episodes of comedy of all time like The Nightman Cometh, The gang tries desperately to win a reward, A very Sunny Christmas, Charlie Work, The gang goes on Family Fright, The Maureen Ponderosa Wedding, The gang goes to a water Park, Franks little beauties, and the list goes on and on. Now I do think after season 12 the show had a little bit of a dip in quality with some epsidoes focusing a little to much on poignant issues like Covid, and Trump, which I just don't think hold up as well, when they have aired episodes like the gang runs for office and Charlie goes America all over everybody's ass in season 2 so I know they can execute political episodes well. But again it still has episodes like Times up for the gang, The gang get new wheels, the gang solves the bathroom problem, the gang Carrie's a corpse up a mountain, and the janitor always mops twice. There are still really good episodes just not as many. Season 16 is right around the corner and this show is so consistent where I think i think it could be like South Park and have a renaissance with this upcoming season if it focuses more on the gang together and even hit us with some vintage IASIP with some controversial episodes again. This show has been renewed through season 18 and the whole cast is still together so they still have the potential to give us some more classic IASIP episodes. One of the new episodes supposedly have the gang go bowling and that just sounds like classic IASIP just from that can't wait.
IASIP Seasons (not in order)
B tier- Season 1, 13, 14, 15
A tier- Season 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11,12
S tier- Season 4,5,8,9
Overall though seasons 2-12 for me is all the best, with a miss here and there. One of the most consistently funny shows of all time 11/10. My favorite live action comedy ever.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Goes on Family Fight (2015)
"Hey Dennis, what is this enticing bowl of white?"
One of my all time favorite episodes of the whole show. It is just joke after joke. One of my favorite settings, with the game show and the amazing parody of Family Fued and game shows in general. There is so many amazing episodes in the show and in this season in general. I don't think it's the most consistent seasons but it would prolly be in my top 5. I honestly don't know what to write with pretty much of every second of this episode gold but we'll give it a shot.
I think this is the gang at their "best" with all of them fully drawn out at this time and everyone being perfectly aligned to their characters. I have to mention the gang talking to the host in the beginning and the audience and telling them a little bit about themselves it's so gold, dropping so many jokes that only the fans would know and just making it confusing for everyone and the face of Keegan the host is so gold. We have Frank being the best Frank just being completely chaotic and spitting out random mumbo jumbo like toe knife and his iconic "I've seen many pigs eat many men". Dennis taking it way to seriously, trying to keep everyone in "check" when at the end he was the one who had the biggest break down on live tv. Also his annoyance to the wrong sound effect is pure gold. Taking common gameshow stereotypes and turning it into jokes, it's such good writing. The fast money scene is fantastic and the reveal of them watching it is hilarious. Charlie oh my god Charlie is probably my favorite character and he was at his best with him unintentionally getting an answer right each time with the most bizarre answers like eating dragons also love the touch of one by the answers he pick each time and then the reveal that he filled out the survey for the quiz show is again really good writing. I have to mention Charlie not knowing what cottage cheese is and always makes me laugh. Then we got Mac who kills me the whole episode all of their facial expressions are amazing but Mac man was just killing me. Him mixing up all the game shows with this one like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and him of course saying survey says instead of the host is hilarious. Dee of course with her thought on using double entendres and what she thinks the show wants her to do, her delivery on cock always makes me crack up. As well as her breaking the buzzer is a hilarious scene great physical comedy. Now the host portrayed by Keegan-Michael Key is one of my favorite guest stars his facial expressions are gold and they picked the best actor for the host his slow demise into insanity is acted perfectly. With his discography focused heavily on comedy and in one of my favorite comedy sketch shows Key and Peele he knew exactly how to tackle the character, also I don't know if it was intentional but at some parts like when Dee says Cock his "No, No, No" reminded heavily of Steve Harvey. I also love how happy he is when Dennis starts to have his breakdown. "Alright I have never seen a more embarrassing display in my whole career. His laugh and his enthusiasm on how the show always goes up on tv is delivered perfectly, also love how the audience is also clapping against the gang.
This episode perfectly shows the characters and is an episode I would definitely recommend to someone wanting to get into the show. You don't need to have seen any of the episodes but a lot of the jokes land even better if your all caught up on your IASIP. 10/10 classic sunny.
Scooby Doo, Where Are You!: Never Ape an Ape Man (1969)
"Wait a minute, wait a minute, watch this shot"
Ik I might be giving a little to much of a high rating, but it's hard, this one was a favorite of mine as a kid. The monster is not scary, the person who it is probably the most obvious in the whole original series, but this is prolly one of my most rewatched episodes.
Pros- This one is way more funnier than most not really being that creepy, but the (pretty close to) abandon movie set is really good atmosphere which this show always seems to nail. The gang are showing up here because Daphne's uncle is a famous movie director, which I'm not gonna gripe on for to long, because I could believe Daphne has a famous movie director uncle, but when they do it over and over and they know every single celebrity it's get a little old. There is some of my favorite gags in this episode like Shaggy and Scooby trying on wigs and playing pool in the billiards room. Shaggy and Scooby steal this episode and the scene in the billiards room is iconic with Scooby counting the heads on the wall and one is missing and shaggy is distracted by pool. The music slaps and I'm a sucker for the Hanna Barbera and Will Hanna 60s animation. Also quick add amazing performance by Carl when he was "shoved" in the trunk and locked in by the ape man. It was a good attempt but sadly did not work. Also they did a good job at making the ape man a threat for his design. The scene when the apeman almost kills Candy on the bridge is iconic as well as Scooby saving her 🍑. This scene showed brave Scooby which we don't get nearly enough of, he didn't even ask for a Scooby snack bruh. Really good episode.
Cons- Well let's start with the obvious it was Carl, when I was younger I was really hoping they didn't go with this ending but they did, normally the pool of suspects isn't that wide but it's not gonna be Daphnes uncle, cause he wouldn't wreck his own shoot. The only other person was Candy who left earlier in the episode. Also I wasn't a huge fan of the way the figured out it was Carl, I mean I liked the idea of taking a picture of the culprit without their mask on its cool, it was just executed poorly. If you show the bald head of someone and there is only bald person in the episode, that's gonna ruin the surprise for when you try to reveal it 🤦.
It's not a perfect ep and I did have some complaints but honestly this is a really fun one if you ain't looking for a "super scary" episode, and some great gags. The Ape Man is pretty intimidating when he almost wrecked Candy he is a threat even though if he isn't real scary. I'll give them props when he shows his teeth and starts roaring he looked pretty ferocious there.
Sam & Max Season Two (2008)
I hope I don't have to bend over provocatively to...
This is a review of the remaster not the original game. I love this game it's easily in my top 5 funnest games I've ever played I don't think anything will top Stick of Truth tho. Sam and max are becoming one of my favorite comedic duo of all time. Max's chaotic attitude and Sams more calm and collect but also insane. I love the episode layout like last season. Each episode stands out to me episode one is evil Santa love the setting of the North Pole and the snow. Episode 2 is like the complete opposite being a deserted island being sunshine and beachy. The Bermuda triangles and stone heads were introduced as well as the baby missing people from history is so funny to me. This episode also introduced kid versions of Sam and max which is one of the funniest things in the Sam and max games to me so far. Episode 3 is like haunted castle and dark spooky vibe perfect for October. Episode 4 is like sci fi in outer space and episode 5 is hell. Every episode is drastically different setting wise and makes it district from each other. All the villains are great evil Santa, Bermuda Triangle, Jurgen, THEM, the poppers, I'll count the devil but he's more of an acquaintance then anything. Episode 4 is one of my favorite episodes of the both games, because Bosco really shines. I was worried at first because he wasn't in the game much like save the world wirh a disguise in every ep, but I like what they did with him in this game he is one of the best parts of episode 4 and 5. They improved most of my issues I had with save the World remaster. I felt like Ogie Banks was way more into his role (voice of Bosco). His parts when he's in his personal hell and Boscow is one of the funniest reveals in these games I've witnessed. Episode 4 is one of my favorite episodes just for all the reveals and the story in that episode is great. We learn so much Boscow, Bosco was made a very confusing way with his mom and I think the president combined together in a machine that Mama Bosco made. That's why Bosco is always making gadgets because of his mother. We also learn who THEM is which i think is hilarious being the Mariachi Band that sing birthdays I thought it was an amazing twist. The song is also great, I don't like it as much as War, but that would be hard to step up. I also love the layout form switching from the town to outer space in a space ship time traveling to different eras, for the case I think is a great switch up. We get some of the funniest gags in the whole game BNANG, you just have to witness it. Meeting old Sam the way he talks is gold. Slightly younger sam and max stealing the time machine and Sam and max having to live through save the world up to the present all over again. It might be my favorite it's just so repayable. I physically can't comment on all of the funny gags that happen. You really do just have to play the Sam and max games if you haven't. I would say in this case the remaster is prolly better but it doesn't add anything but also doesn't take anything out of the original game, thank god cause that was a huge flaw in save the world. Amazing game not really a great remaster but there's been worst it just doesn't really add much that is one of the few flaws I could find with game. I need to play Hit the Road and Devils Playhouse which I hear are both a lot of peoples favorite sam and max titles so I'm excited and hoping for a new game after the devils playhouse remaster. I'm gonna give it a 10/10 because it's prolly the second funniest game I've played or fs in my top 5. Love this game. The voices of Sam and max Are perfect and will be sad if they are ever switched. Sams voice actor nails Sams sort of comedy. 10/10. A few more great moments- the devil poppers, the stripper, Hugh bliss being a censor, all the swearing is hilarious and a lot more than save the world. I don't remember any swearing in the first game. Overall one of the best point and clock experiences I've ever had.
Resident Evil 2 (2019)
It's not Perfect but I love it
As a horror game I will say it's fantastic prolly one of scariest experiences playing a videogame. Now I am quite new to the horror genre, as growing I pretty much played only fps games. This game was the first Resident evil I completed all the way and made me really into the lore of the franchise and wanted to play all the games, so I'm in the process of that right now but I don't think my opinion on this game will change. I loved the puzzles and the big open locations my favorites were probably the Police Station and Lab, and then playing as Sherry in Claire's campaign. I got Mr X over Nemesis easily (talking about remakes only). He just scared me so much that first encounter with moving the chopper. His footsteps are so terrifying. I found myself multiple times looking for him because of the footsteps and not finding him and then him just charging at me. He's definitely at his best at the police station trying to solve puzzles and then him just showing up. It does kind of have a linear feel but way more random then nemesis in the most recent remake. I quite liked the voice acting especially Claire and Sherry, i don't know I just found their relationship so wholesome the shot of Claire carrying her with her laying on her shoulder is quite sweet. One of my favorite missions was easily the one at the orphanage with Chief Irons and Shelly seeing him as her own version of Mr x was very cool to me. I actually didn't mind the boss battles I liked most of the William battles, I enjoyed the crane one and the final one just some of them kind of blend together. Also back to the voice acting the scene with the gun shop owner I thought was suprsingly fantastic and I'm so glad the daughter didn't bite her dad. The main story if you start with Leon is about his first day of the academy and learning about the G virus and how it's affecting Raccoon city. I really like Marvin I kind of wish he didn't die. I love the way the map layout and the combine feature as well as the gather feature. I enjoy going into rooms and finding the key items and trying to find gunpowder or heals. The stuff in sewers has great atmosphere the whole game does with it raining throughout the entire runtime. My favorite part in the sewers is easily the chase scene with the alligator it looks so good and the chase is also fantastic not being able to see what's in front of you. I also enjoy finding notes and learning more about the lore of the universe. All the zombies and monsters for the most part are scary. I still have the image of that officers face with walkie talkie and had like the ripped face the reveal of that was mental. So much of this game is fantastic. Those slickers might be one of the scariest things in the game. I do love this game but there are some misses
The most obvious and what everyone points out is the different campaigns. The game is set up where you can do Claire or Leon A and then after you do Claire or Leon B. So about 4 play throughs at the least if you want to play all of it. Honestly though after I finished Leon A and Claire B I didn't really feel desired to play it the other way which I will cause I have leaned that's the cannon version and I still love the game so I'll play it again probably after I play all of the other Resident Evil games. They just didn't add enough to Claire's or Leon's rather on how you play it, with doing multiple of the same puzzles wirh both characters and going to a lot of the same locations. Which I was expecting it to be drastically different since Leon and Claire barely saw each other throughout the whole game which in the original they actually interacted with each other via radio. While I was playing I kept saying this doesn't make sense Leon already got the wristband or having to do the Jack puzzle again which wouldn't make sense but I can ignore that cause the game overall is scary and entertaining. As well as locations being cut from the original game. The sewers is probably my least favorite area but it's still a great area for me first play though I was dreading walking the down there. Wasn't a huge fan of Ada and didn't really care for how at the very they tried to redeem her character, but I do know a lot of people say the personalities of theses characters were way better in the original with Leon being more assertive, not really sure how Ada was, but in this version it just wasn't for me. Annette as well is a bad mom and I have leaned again that she actually cared about her daughter in the original. Why would that be something they cut, her death felt very underwhelming. I do think the good outweighs the bad and most of the problems aren't to bad but kind of leads to the 3rd remake which does what 2 for the cons did but did it 10x worse. I still love it and prolly would give it a 9.5/10 but it's possible it could change down the line.
Rick and Morty: Total Rickall (2015)
I know it's an easy pick but it's one of the best for a reason
This show is only in the beginning stages of season 6, and are renewed through season 10 so it's possible an episode surpasses, but most of the episodes as of recent have been good but not top tier episodes for me. This episode though is the everything perfect about a Rick and Morty episode as well as a cartoon episode in general. The amount of times I've watched this episode and found new characters in the background is astounding. The amount of work you have to put in to get that many different wacky characters on screen is a lot, especially coming up with so many original ideas. Cartoons for me seem to have some of the most memorable plots and episodes just because of how insane animation can go, they have way more boundaries can break, because a lot of the times live action comedies and sitcoms need to have some kind of grounded feelings and animation do whatever they want. There's so many classic moments like pencilvestor introduction. All the fake flashbacks making the parasites duplicate. The whole premise is classic Rick and Morty. I love that the whole epsidoe takes place in the house, episodes like this in shows that take place in one area I always tend to like quite a lot and this is no different. Rick is hilarious not an asshole with one of my favorite 4th wall broken jokes "NOOOO, shoot now it's like a where's Waldo page. Can you find me, check out all these zany characters. We'll be right back after these messages". As well as himself forgetting the right amount of people that are supposed to be in the house. One of my favorite parts of the whole show is the family teaming to take down the parasites, besides Jerry of course who has his own little story with Beth's "husband" sleepy Gary and Jerry's lifelong friend is so funny to me. The parts when the family try to figure out if the have bad memories of each and having flashbacks of all the bad times is comedy gold especially summer to morty. "WHY IN THE KITCHEN" Summer. "I do it everywhere stop shaming me" Morty. Fantastic exchange. I also love the little bit continuity kept between this episode and the last, with in this episode showing rick disposing some kind of glowing rock, which we saw in a previous episode. A lot of people have theorized this episode took place in a different timeline mostly because of mr poopy butthole being a real person that the family knew in this episode, which obviously up to this point we had never met him. The most recent premiere (Season 6) pretty much confirmed that this episode was in a different timeline. The scene of Beth shooting Mr Poopy Butthole always gets me as well as the very first scene of the episode with Rick shooting the parasite at the table coming across as their uncle. The opening is a great way to introduce us to this premise and episode. Most shows I have such a hard time deciding what's my favorite episode but in Rick and Morty ever since I saw this episode it's been my favorite and probably will never change.
Full House: Fast Friends (1993)
One of the best from the season
Season 7 was very hit or miss, but whenever Full House decides to tackle important issues they automatically stand out from the majority which tend to always take a similar route. The episodes including the underage drinking, the abusive father, earthquakes, the one when Dj is trying to loose an unhealthy amount of weight. There is many more but this another one when Stephanie has to decide if she's gonna smoke with her new friends. This is a great peer pressure episode about smoking. It also has some alright funny moments like when Stephanie calls Joey and Jesse's radio show, I can't remember the name she used tho. I believe Dj and Steve are there as well and Steve is always a highlight he's hilarious. It does of course have the cliche talk at the end but at least the subject matter is quite important. Stephanie of course ends up choosing against smoking. The dialogue in the bathroom scene after she's making up her mind is quite cheesy but I will give her the "you should know you've been there for 3 years" which if that's true as Kelso would say BURNNN. I will say Mia Sokoloff is actually quite a good child actor as well as the other girl in there who's more of a friend with Stephanie then Gia, Mickey played by Molly Morgan. The B plot is Yakkin with Youth plotline which is pretty funny with Steve, dj and kimmy coming on Jesse and Joeys show to talk to kids about random stuff. The kids are great but Jesse and Joey, Dave Coulier and John Stamos shine in this ep arguing over the name of the show Yakkin with Youth or Teen Talk, what can I say sometimes the simplest plotline is the funniest. B plot funnier but a plot is equally as good with the subject matter. Classic Full house episode.
The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror (1990)
A classic
This is the one that started the tradition and it's still one of the best in my opinion all 3 stories are great and allows the animation team to go out of boundaries for what they normally can do. Classic Simpson's really is on another level. It captures the Halloween vibe so well with Marges opening love the jab at parents who blame tv shows for things they have control over. I also really like how it's at night and the kids and Homer are at a fire just telling scary stories. The first story is prolly my favorite of the episode but it's they're close. Love the classic family move into a new house that ends up being haunted cliche. The knife fight gag between the family and them apologizing to each other still cracks me up every time. I like the reveal that Marge was not hypnotized by the house. The house talking to the family is also great. The reveal of the Indian burial ground is also amazing. I think everything works in this episode and has a very creepy vibe to it. The second story is also amazing as well with the first time seeing Kang and Kodos who are great like always. I still love the twist at the end that they weren't going to eat them. As well as when the aliens kidnap Homer and his family. The first two are some of my favorite stories of the treehouse of horrors and the third one is great as well with the kids mostly Bart interrupting the story at some points making it even better. I still really enjoy the Raven story it is my least favorite of the three though. Bart as the raven is hilarious and the narrator and the music is top notch. Also love the jab at the first Friday the 13th which is even more tame compared to nowadays. I also lobe how it ends with Homer scared of the childrens stories more than the kids. All three stories are classics and are great parodies of what they were going for.
South Park: The List (2007)
A fantastic final episode of one of the best seasons
The last episode was great this one is amazing. Everything that makes a top tier South Park is all here. It also feels like a huge nostalgic trip for the fans especially with Stan puking on Wendy which hasn't happened in many seasons, it's also weirdly heartwarming the show implies she enjoys it. Also the main plot is South Park at its best, with the kids acting like kids which tend to go higher up on my lists. When I first watched this I noticed some similarities to Marjorine in Season 9 just the girls vs boys vibe but that's pretty much where the similarities end. The plot in this episode is the girls posting a list of the boys look on a ranking displayed on a list for the boys to see. Which messes up Kyle because he's behind Cartman and ranked the lowest out of all the boys in his class and he goes quite crazy thank god Stan the man and Wendy got to him in time. I love how it starts with the boys trying to get the list. Also it's slight but I also love how Butters always knows everything like the list and when all the fights are going down. Whenever he says fellas it's great. Also Butters in this episode is amazing being appreciative for getting 11th on the list maybe a little to much, but it leads to hilarious moments just him being excited about it is hilarious. Him going home and telling his parents is also great. Clyde being number 1 was hilarious especially for what they do with the ending. Clyde acting all snarky now because he's number 1 and all of the sudden has a letterman's jacket for some reason was funny to me and the scene of him on the phone with different chicks. Stan is also great throughout this episode trying to get to the bottom of why Kyle is at the bottom of the list, as well as Wendy in this episode, when she finds out the list is a fraud she feels betrayed and working with Stan and pushing aside their differences to figure out what's going on with the list. Their conversation together felt so real and Matt and Trey are great at this. Also there line of "sparkles, sunshine" is great. Also the third act is a highlight of the episode with Stan and Wendy working together to take down the corrupt with Bebe in charge of this and the reasoning to me made me laugh so hard the first time, doing this all for shoes bruh, and then her getting arrested was also great. Wendy and Bebe's conversation was fantastic with her thinking about switching when Bebe shows Wendy the shoes. I think this episode also succeeds for focusing more on the kids then the adults, don't get me wrong some of my favorite episodes involve the Park adults being clueless, but this one just felt back to basics. In my opinion a top tier episode but there's a lot of top tier. I won't say underrated because I feel like a lot of South Park fans enjoy this one quite a lot just for a lot of nostalgic shown for the earlier seasons in this episode. This season is up there for me for sure in my top 5 but there's so many amazing seasons. I also love the way they choose to write Kyle with him being the guy that takes things to seriously. Don't really have anything wrong with it everything works for me.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: A Very Sunny Christmas (2009)
One of the very best
Off the bat another Christmas episode I'll be rewatching every year as long as Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas a classic Community episode, as well as Christmas Who? Which is the first sponge bob Christmas episode. Pretty much every South Park Christmas episode season in the first 8 years especially Mr Hankey the Christmas Poo and the Woodland Critters episode which might be my two favorite Christmas episodes (besides this one of course)
Just everything from comedy and Christmas feel is matched perfectly and then of course has that special "sunny ending" that no other show could physically pull off. Some of my all time favorite and iconic moments of the show is from this episode including the Santa brawl at the mall, Frank coming out of the couch naked and the animation or puppet scene with Frank and the song is a classic. Very similar style to Rudolph the red nose reindeer and I just got to appreciate how much work that must had to have been especially with all the ways Frank's puppet gets mutilated and they really knocked it out the park using advantage for the time it's not live action. Mac and charlies traditions are some of the funniest things ever put into a Christmas episode. Mac and his family going into strangers houses and stealing their presents. The reveal of the family at the top of the stairs and young Mac kills me everytime still so much like his adult counterpart. Charlie explaining how all the Santa's would come over and cheer up his mom and his breakdown. The scene of the gang caroling and getting booed and bottles chucked at them gets me every time. Another one of my favorite scenes is Mac apologizing for stealing a robot and not even returning it just for the apology from a kid name Ricky. It's comedy gold. Especially the line "Some people can't be helped". The music throughout the episode is perfect. Also the rock throwing tradition is just the icing on the cake. Charlie and Mac are prolly my favorite parts of the epsiode, but the stuff with Frank, Dennis, Dee, and Frank's old associate is also great, and the ending makes it so much better, with the iconic snow blowing scene right after "Frank has a change of heart" shortly after his close death encounter. If I could rate it an 11 I would I have no negatives. Last thing I want to mention is Frank faking his death just to get the gang down to the hospital is so funny to me and the "yo" when they walk in god this show. There is many top tier episodes but not as many I would rate 11. Really there is no down point all throughout the epsiode and it's longer being a special at about 44 minutes. If you want a happy ending for a Christmas special you are not getting that, but if your a sunny fan its a fantastic ending. 11/10. I don't think there is another episode of the show with so many iconic moments as a fan this is one I throw on all year long.
*Edit- this is also a great Charlie and Mac episode. I miss these two paired up like in "Mac and Charlie White Trash", "Mac and Charlie die", and this episode. There's others but it's all mostly in the earlier seasons.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Dennis and Dee Go on Welfare (2006)
2x3: Dennis and Dee Go on Welfare
This is one episode that has grown on me so much when I first watched it I didn't really get all the hype around this episode, but now after many rewatches this is one of the best of the season and prolly my favorite of the season so far. So many iconic scenes on par with Charlie gets Crippled. This episode I will say all the characters are really starting to get into their groove, with Dee really getting into the scheme and this episode feels such like a classic sunny episode with the gang exploiting something to extreme levels. This episode being Welfare, and being one of the best written episodes of the season. This episode is also the first one to break the order being the 4th in production order and followed by the 6th episode of the season The Gang Gives Back, it doesn't matter to much but you notice after watching the season multiple times.
Some of the best scenes being Dennis and Dee getting welfare. Dennis intro with Dee wearing the helmet is a classic sunny line. Charlie and Mac showing up to pick a roommate is so funny and makes me laugh everytime. I love how the plot goes so off the walls from the opening with Dennis and Dee leaving to prove a point and try to follow their dreams to them doing crack. Dennis and Dee confrontation with the dealer is iconic and him opening the window just a smidge is so good. Dennis and Dee waking up realizing what they did and wanting more is hilarious. The B plot is equally as funny with Frank giving Charlie and Mac money to watch over and yea of course it goes as expected with them going on a spending spree and getting a limo with chicks and laughing is so good. Them stopping and then driving off after Dennis and Dee ask for money is great. The ending with Charlie being promoted is great and I like it even more since Charlie doesn't get a lot of breaks in the show and he's prolly my favorite character. I love Frank's line to Dennis and Dee "Your crack heads children". Also another amazing scene is the stoop scene with Dennis and Dee singing Biz Markie You've Got A Friend a classic. Such a great episode and like it a lot more since I know this show writing is amazing and do talk about the crack addiction and have another episode talking about it in season 11 which I was worried about at fiest and also Frank is not perfect but I like him in season and in this episode as well Danny DeVito is always great it's not perfect but easily above a 95% really sets stone for the show moving forward and makes the template for future episodes.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Goes Jihad (2006)
2x2: The Gang Goes Jihad
A great follow up to the premiere I do think it's not as strong. I feel like there is a few more slower parts than the premiere. The writing is still excellent and only sunny could do an episode like this. This episode is about an Israel businessman claims ownership of of the street that Paddys Pub which makes the gang go to extremes to make the guy leave. There are some iconic scenes in this episode like of course the jihad tape and I love how even they thought the tape was to far and Charlie complimenting his camera work was hilarious. The flaming poop explosion does kill me every time. One thing I do have to mention is I really do like how they have an overarching story for season 2 which I really do appreciate. Also the episodes were released out of order so I will mention it when it starts to go out over so far we're good for now this follows right after the last. With the opening Charlie in his cast still and the conversation between the owner and the gang is great. The conversation between Charlie, Mac, and Dennis, "you dropped the hard J" Charlie. We also get introduced to Barbara, Frank's ex wife I believe they are divorced in this episode. I also believe this is the first time the camera is used by the gang and man will it to go through some memories. The last scene of the episode is iconic of police showing up to the bar to arrest the gang.
I guess the only thing keeping it from a 10 is would prolly be the plot with Frank getting the possessions from his ex wife is somewhat forgettable even though Barbara is brilliantly acted by Anne Archer and there is some classic episodes involving Barbara like of course the iconic episode Mac Bangs Dennis mom which is in a few episodes. A great episode just one I don't choose to watch as much as some other episodes where I feel like the last episode has iconic moment after iconic moment this is still a great Sunny episode and one I never skip.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Charlie Gets Crippled (2006)
2x1: Charlie Gets Crippled
The first of many many classics. This really feels like the first sunny episode where they were figuring out their show. The episodes that are 10/10 are a lot different then the ones in the later seasons around season 6 or 7 where it started to drift from the controversial episodes and went more to the characters and I enjoy them both for their different ways.
This episode is amazing almost every thing from start to finish is gold. From the opening scene of Dennis hitting Charlie with a car, because of Frank coming back to see Dennis and Dee and at this time he thinks they are his kids. The writing in this episode is a huge jump up from any episode in season 1. This episode is the first one they really shows how messed up the gang is by using handicap advantages for the gangs profit. By using Charlie in a wheel chair to get sympathy points from strippers. The whole scene at the stripper with Mac, Frank, and Charlie is fantastic even though Mac is somewhat out of character here. I love that Frank is in the show, even though this isn't my favorite version of him I'm just glad Danny Devito is finally in the show. Everything with frank trying to get into Dennis and Dee's lives is great. Charlie dressing up as a war veteran to get get even more points is even better and the costumes are some of the best part of the show. We also get the iconic wheel chair race scene in the mall is fantastic. Also I think this is the episode when they really show they are gonna be king of awkward conversations. When Dennis and Mac run into the actual guy in the wheel chair is an amazing scene. Also the ending is fanatic with the guy in the wheelchair talking to Dee and the reveal of Dee in crutches never fails to make me laugh. We also get the scene of Charlie in the hospital is also amazing. The very end of the episode is also great karma for the gang which I feel like they do run away from that later in its run. When Dennis falls asleep at the wheel with Mac in the back and they crash and the jump to them in the hospital now actually crippled is great ending, and man that reveal after "at least no one important got hurt" of the guy who caught on to the gang faking being crippled. Man what an amazing episode, this is the episode that really sold me on the show and made me really love the show. Easily a 10/10 prolly closer to more of a 9.4 or 9.5 but I still have to give it the 10 just for really selling me on the show.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Charlie Got Molested (2005)
1x7: Charlie got Molested
The finale of the season 1 is solid but prolly one of my least favorite finales. The theme of season 1 of tackling controversial topics is still very much in this episode and prolly one of the more controversial episodes.
Again I feel like the execution of this episode could have been better which seems to be very consistent in this season. The main plot is okay and the ending I feel is kind of a cop out and not one of my favorite endings. I will say there is still quite a lot to like in this episode. I will say one thing that makes me laugh every time is the little B plot of Mac wondering why he wasn't good enough to get molested and him telling Dee and Dennis and their reaction really shows how messed up Macs mind is. Also the scene of Mac at the coaches house is also hilarious. The main stuff with Charlie is okay but has some great introductions to some of my favorite side characters like Uncle Jack, the mcPoyles and Charlies mom. Holy smokes the portrayal of Uncle jack played by Andrew Friedman is amazing and just gets better and better with every appearance and same with Jimmi Simpson as Ryan McPoyle is unreal. There's a lot of potential with all these side characters and the plot could have worked better if it was executed better. Sadly there isn't to many great moments besides a couple of iconic moments like with Mac. The intervention scene though is great and even though he may have not been molested by coach, Uncle jack in every appearance looks more and more guilty. It's a solid episode and having all the side characters does help it, but I think it would have been better if they used the The Gang finds a Dead a body as the finale. Solid episode, but it could have been better right in the middle of the pack for season 1 episodes, not the worst not the best.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Finds a Dead Guy (2005)
1x6: The Gang Finds a Dead Body
This episode is extremely underrated in my eyes. I'm surprised this rating is lower than The Gang gets Racist. This really starts to feel like a sunny episode and there's only a couple of reasons why I prolly wouldn't call it a classic and just short of a 10 for me.
It does suffer for me for again being in season 1 and doesn't have Frank and also the main plot is also like every other one in season 1. I kinda wish they would have titled it off the other plot with Dee and Charlie going to see Dennis and Dee's grandpa, because that plot alone feels like Sunny starting to find their footing. There is so much good stuff in this plot with Dee starting to feel like she's getting in the gang a little more and not just the wet rag and I have to give all the props to Kaitlyn Olson, because if she didn't step up and say she wanted to get involved in the hijinks, Dee would be a drastically different character. Dees fear of old people is introduced in this episode and it's hilarious. We get the first costume Charlie or just someone in the gang dressed up in. Charlie dressed up as a Nazi Soldier is great and the scene with him eating the banana is gold. We get the first look at Pop Pop which I believe has only been in two episodes. Also the scene with Mac and Charlie in the alley burning the box is great. The main plot isn't bad by any means it's actually pretty funny and prolly one of my favorite of these "the gang getting chicks in different ways". When the gang finds a dead body in their bar Mac and Dennis use this to try to get to the granddaughter. Which has its funny moments but not to many memorable moments, and Mac is pretty out of character in this one. Dennis eulogy is fanatic and prolly my favorite moment of this plot. Overall a great episode and easily my favorite of the season really feels like the first Sunny episode with them starting to find their way.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Gun Fever (2005)
1x5: Gun Fever
Honestly one I don't got to much to say about and I think they execute gun safety and both sides of it better in "Gun Fever too: Still Hot" a season 9 episode. This one I think is fine and really feels like a season 1 episode, with Dee being the straight person again with them not thinking they should have the gun and of course the guys think the other way.
This episode plot is pretty simple someone is robbing Paddy's and the gang want to get a gun to protect the place. Dee also has a new love interest is very suspicious. I actually think this is prolly the best writing of the show so far, I really enjoyed how the story continued throughout and the ending with Dees boyfriend actually being the robber was a nice little twist that I honestly didn't see coming on first watch but I prolly should have. There is quite a few moments that stand out for me more then in other season 1 episodes like the gang at the shooting range and Charlie accidentally getting shot by Dennis. Also the ending is fantastic with the gang in Charlies hospital room and Dee saying no more gun and then when she walks away the whip it out and say nah we keeping it. It has its funny moments but again is held down no Frank and Dee being very out character. This episode has funny moments but it doesn't really have any iconic moments and the show starting in season 2 has so many iconic moments. I feel like there is funny moments but not really any iconic, but charlie getting shot is close, but I don't think it's as good as him getting hit by a car by Dennis in the season 2 premiere. It's a fun episode but I think is done better in the sequel one of the few of the show I prefer over the original.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Charlie Has Cancer (2005)
1x4: Charlie Has Cancer
I enjoy it, it's really hard to find an episode of the show that I can't find something about it that I enjoy and there is still some funny parts in it. I do have to give this episode props for the scene with Charlie telling Dennis he has cancer being a huge part of the show becoming of what it did. One of the creators Rob McElhenney dreamt this scene one night and when he woke wrote it down. The original pilot not The Gang gets Racist, "It's Always Sunny on TV" (2004)
is a very similar plot to this episode.
Prolly the best scene of the episode is the iconic scene of Charlie telling Dennis he has cancer. I mean we knew the characters were unlikable but I feel like this really shows the characters more especially Dennis reaction by slowly walking out, it's perfectly acted by Glenn and Charlie. Some other great stuff is of course the introduction of Artemis brilliantly acted by Artemis Pebdani and the beautiful Brittany Daniel portraying the trans woman Carmen. Also the waitress is always great. Honestly other than what I've mentioned this episode is one that I would call somewhat forgettable there isn't to many funny moments and I feel like a lot of the B plots in this season is the guys going to get girls which is fine just they kind of all jumble together. This is a very predictable episode even for sunny standards. Charlies reasoning was also eh I mean i get it for the waitress it just didn't lead to too many memorable jokes which this show is usually fantastic at. I would say the weakest of the season for me but still not bad. Also the scene with Charlie telling Dennis he doesn't have cancer is kind of ironic for what dennis reaction is and how in a few seasons faking cancer would be one of the least worst things they have done. Some of the best side characters in any show I've ever watched and they come back so consistently for a long time, I feel like in the last couple of seasons there hasn't been to many side character appearances besides the waitress.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Underage Drinking: A National Concern (2005)
"This is classic Tammy"
Easily one of the best of the season really feels like the first "Sunny episode". This is the first episode Dee really feels part of the gang besides being the wet towel. The premise is very memorable and I like this is one of the only times I've seen this many people in Paddys and of course they're underage. This is the episode they seem to call back on the most in later seasons I definitely see why, it's not amazing but it's great and one of the better ones of the season, easily the best so far.
The opening is hilarious with dennis realizing everyone's underage. The main plot is the gang decide to permit underage drinking at Paddys and they way the gang think it's their responsibility to have a safe space for underage kids to drink is pretty funny. We get the first time Charlie sniffs glue and it's with Mac. Dees plot is the best one so far with her dating a high school student and then not being able to go through with it still having a little soul left not like later Dee when she's giving everyone 0's on a dating app. Charlies outburst on the underage kid is great all of the gangs outbursts are amazing but my favorite have to be dennis, Glenn's acting in those scenes are amazing and we see glimpses in this season but we are nowhere near peak Dennis. The gang all dressing up I'm Tuxes always gets a smirk from me. The scene with Mac and Charlie deciding to get alcohol for the underage kids party because they suck up to them. It doesn't take much to make the guys completely 360 if you compliment them in any way. Dee getting drunk is a highlight we get a glimpse of Kaitlyn Olson's fantastic acting and later her physical comedy is always gold. Dennis plot with trying to figure out if the women are underage are not, it's very realistic and it's even harder to tell now a days. The gang going to the prom is also a highlight. These guys are always trying ways to relive their younger days and pretty much will do whatever other people say is they compliment them in some way. A great episode overall 9/10.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Charlie Wants an Abortion (2005)
1x2: Charlie Wants an Abortion
I think this episode is a jump up in quality for me, I think both plots are executed pretty well it's pretty average for a sunny episode maybe a little below it has that season 1 feel that every episode in this season has and it's missing Frank which I don't know how I didn't mention in the last review. It's very noticeable especially cause he's one of my favorite characters the episodes without him are missing something. I really like Charlies plot line in this episode and I wish there was more plots with dee and charlie I mean there is a few here and there but I feel like they don't have a lot of episodes of together and they even talk about in a future episode. I really like Charlie's and Dee's dynamic in this episode even though I still don't care for dee as the straight person of the group. The scene at the store with Charlie and dee and the waitress is great, all the actors were fanatic. Charlies first real outburst which all of the members besides really frank have outbursts on occasion. Charlies outburst on the kid is great. Even though at the end it's revealed it's not his actual kid I think what they do which the plot makes it more rewatchable . When the kid gets drunk and Charlies reaction to it is great. I also think the plot with dennis and Mac is good to. I think the plot with the abortion rally holds up a little more than the previous. Macs sign is a highlight. Mac and dennis going to opposite sides of the abortion rally. Dennis hitting on girls at the abortion rally. I was laughing a lot more in this episode and after I finished it I was like alright I'm gonna give the season a shot. Also the ending I think is great with Dennis jumping the fence. Great follow up and one of the better episodes of the season 9/10.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Gets Racist (2005)
1x1: The Gang Gets Racist
The pilot has grown on me over time. It is definitely one of the weaker episodes of the season and of the show, but it's not even my least favorite of the season. This episode isn't bad or forgettable though and they really show in this episode this show is gonna be different than any other sitcom before it and tackle some very controversial topics that most tv shows would never tackle at this time, this was the time sitcoms were still having mostly laugh tracks, friends was ending, and How I Met your mother was starting, That 70s show was late in its run, but another monumental show The office also aired this year also getting rid of the laugh track and going for the more mockumentary style. It did take a couple of episodes for me to get on board, the first time I finished this episode, I paused and thought does this work for me. There was moments when I snickered but I was thinking shouldn't I be laughing more in a sitcom, and it wasn't the shows fault it just took me a while to get on board with the shows humor and realizing it's satire and how the main cast of characters are suppose to be unlikable and terrible people and is now probably my favorite sitcom of all time. The show just works cause in most shows there's a time when the characters have finished growing and there's nothing else left to tell for sunny the characters have minor changes but never have they actually changed as people, but if they can keep thinking of great stories and interesting settings to plop our characters this show could go on forever
For a while this was my least favorite episode of the show, and it's still a weaker one for a few reasons none of the characters have hit their peak which is fine it's the pilot but they all change somewhat by the next season. Dee is more of the straight person and telling the gang they are being out of line, which I don't care for by because I'm so use to her being part of the schemes by season 2 she fully starts to be in the gangs hijinks and it's been like that for 14 seasons. Dee is almost unrecognizable from later seasons and just shows how talented of an actress Kaitlyn Olson is. Charlies being illiterate is no where to be seen. Dennis psychotic tendencies are also pretty absent besides Glenn's acting school shining through even in the first episode. Mac feels more like Charlie and him being in the closet really doesn't start to be brought in around season 2 or 3. I also think the execution isn't done great, especially when Sunny's executions for episodes are almost always flawless besides a few rough ones in my eyes. The main plot is funny in writing with Charlie trying prove they're not racist and has some funny moments like Mac and Charlie fighting over the wallet and Charlie fitting in pretty quickly. The bar turning into a gay bar is fine has a couple of funny moments like dennis as the bartender and his spin. Also the scene when Dee is introducing Terrell is pretty good well acted by the main three. Also the introduction to the longest running returning side character the waitress Charlie Day's wife in real life Mary Ellis Elizabeth, who is one of the best side charcters. Charlies obsession with the Waitress is one of the best recurring gags of the show. Overall I think they did fine job for the budget they had back then, but it's a pilot and it's a little rough and you can tell by watching it. Not one I normally throw on just to watch but never skip it on rewatch.
Regular Show: Free Cake (2010)
1x5: Free Cake
I really enjoy this one not the best of the season for me, but still is funny all throughout. The main plot is pretty funny with Mordecai and Rigby just wanting cake and they can't afford it leads to some great jokes. The opening with Rigby finding a plate and the two going to different stores to try to get cake and even a wedding. The free store bit was pretty funny. Also Mordecai and Rigby's "ughh" is also a highlight. Skips turning old and the flying babies are hilarious and a very memorable third act. We also learn a little bit more about Skips really the first one to give a little bit more a backstory to the characters besides Mordecai and Rigby. One of my favorite Skip episodes the characters all feel in character and its nice they would throw skips a birthday party. A underrated Regular Show episode. Finding out skips has eternal youth is actually ingesting and I hope it's brought back up at some point and the babies make a return, a very good episode nothing much wrong with it all. Also Muscle man mistaking the party and getting naked in the dark is pretty funny and love looking for the adult centered jokes. "It's not that kind of party Muscle Man" Benson.
That '70s Show: Eric's Buddy (1998)
1x11: Erics Buddy
One of the shows most controversial episodes especially for the time, but overall I think it holds up pretty well and the B plot is also pretty funny and has a nice ending. I think for a sitcom it's one of the better ones for handling the LGBTQ topic. The main plot has a lot of good moments like the best friend montage and all I can think of is Child's Play. I wish the cash register guy was a recurring character most of his lines made me laugh. The kiss scene is really well done, Topher Grace's facial expressions are hilarious. Their last scene together is pretty solid with the line exchange, "your so cute" Buddy. "I guess I am" Eric, great delivery by Topher Grace. The stuff with the gang is also really good with Fez being the only one who knew he was gay. "Fez if Buddy was gay he would be all over me" kelso. Erics "hypothetical situation" is also really well done by Topher. The B plot I really like cause it is tackling real life and trying to adapt new skills in this episode it's Red trying to become a good salesman and has a a lot of good parts like kitty and reds forplay. Red at the store trying to sell fridges and blenders and asking for bobs help. Also the ending I really like and is awesome to see red excited about something when he finally sold a product and tells Bob and then calls kitty and I think it's a really well done ending. Both plots are good and It would have been cool to see Buddy as a recurring character, to see his dynamic fit the cast. Joseph Gordon Levitt did a good job portraying Buddy and overall a memorable season 1 episode.
The negatives really is with Hyde still trying to get with Donna and wasn't a fan of the hand grabbing leg scene but the rubbing bit did make me grin. I'll just be happy when they drop the storyline.
That '70s Show: Sunday, Bloody Sunday (1998)
1x10 Sunday, Bloody Sunday
This episode is carried by specific scenes and the casts acting. Like Kitty in the Kitchen and Red slamming the tool box with the hammer in the garage. If this is one of the weakest of the season for me then this show is very well done especially for a sitcoms first season. I love how grounded this first season feels and the next couple of seasons. They feel like a struggling 70s family and we all have that one family member we can't stand and wish they executed the main plot better and not have the smoking part in it cause it's not really funny watching kitty struggle not to smoke and Reds mom being terrible to Kitty. The fake smoke I I think is funny if they did it for comedic purposes. Also I think I might enjoy the B plot better even if it's not amazing with the gang trying to help Eric out by doing his paper and so much stuff does wrong. Hyde and his conspiracies is a highlight. Donna telling kelso not break up with Jackie yet. I really like Kelso and his running gag of breaking up with Jackie is funny and Ashton Kutcher always carries in his performances and his delivery everytime of the line never fails to put a smile on my face. It reminds me a little of friends "We were on a break. Especially this line reminded me of it. "I'm so tired of hearing you say that" Eric. "OH MY GOD, if you say that one more time I'm gonna break up with you" Chandler. The fantasy is also pretty funny with Kitty red and mother Forman. The church prayers in their heads is also very funny especially reds line. Also Kitty asking for a cigarette is an iconic scene of the show. Debra Jo Rupps performance was one of the best of the season if not her best of the season. Fez being the only one who likes grandma and get along with is pretty funny. Also the opening scene of them playing horse is also funny. What also really helps this episode I think is the ending with kitty breaking out into laughter is hilarious and I think their whole conversation is really wholesome.
Now the negatives is pretty much everything with mother Forman even though I can relate doesn't mean I enjoy it and it's hard for me to enjoy the main plot with her on the screen so much. I'm glad she's only in the first season. That ending scene always irritates me with grandma saying the opposite of things earlier and Eric about to let grandma have it, I wish he did she deserved it. It's a fine episode saved by the ending, the casts acting and just general chemistry together.
