A worthy long awaited sequel we never thought we'd get
27 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow! I'm impressed. This movie was really well done! I don't really have any complaints with the storytelling. Sure it hits similar beats as the first one, but this time most of it is told through Jake and Neytiri's children, and just like last time they spend a good majority of the first two acts expanding the world of Pandora. You thought it was beautiful just in the forests? Naw! The oceans are just as spectacular.

Another thing that Hollywood has seemingly forgotten about is the family dynamic, which in my opinion is the high point of this movie. It's the main drive of the story, and it helps Jake and Neytiri grow as characters themselves.

I'm excited for Avatar 3 and 4 and for what it has in store for us next. It was nice to revisit Pandora again after 13 years and I'm ready for more.

Very Well Done!
8 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow! This movie was awesome! I loved the first Sonic film, but this? Very well done, guys! I had fun the whole time.

Whether or not you're familiar or a fan on the Sonic games, this movie is a really fun family adventure your kids will enjoy. Almost all the kids in the auditorium were super excited the whole time, and there were some adults too that laughed at a lot of the jokes and references to the games.

Idris Elba KILLS it as Knuckles. He made me laugh majority of the film, and Tails was a great addition and didn't feel underutilized at all.

If you enjoyed the first movie I highly recommend watching this one.

It's good, but not a kid's movie
10 November 2021
I honestly wouldn't show this movie to my kid until they were like over thirteen years of age, because this movie is DARK, like nightmare fuel dark.

The story itself was fine. It tackled interesting themes here and there, and the CGI (for it's time of release) seemed to have aged fairly well.

But the atmosphere and the stuff that happens in this movie is just gritty and dark, and it's told by the perspective of a kid (yes, I am aware it's a robot, but it was programmed to behave and live as a young kid, so it still counts). The way the movie ended shocked me as well.

I will say that I do like this movie and I do recommend it, but I would hold off on showing your kid(s) unless you feel like they can handle the tone.

The Last of Us: Part II (2020 Video Game)
1/10
No. Just no.
10 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There is no way I am accepting this game to win the 2020 Game of the Year Award. No! That award should gone to Ghosts of Tsushima.

Playing this game once was enough for me, and I found it painfully hard to keep going as soon as I learned that you play as Abby the majority of the game. To this day I still don't understand why people even like her. To say she was poorly written is sugarcoating it. There is absolutely zero depth to her at all. Besides, who wants to play as her after she kills Joel, the very character we fell in love with in the first game? Joel should have gotten a way better send off than what he got!

I want to give it a higher grade just for the great visuals and intriguing gameplay, but the story just kills it. They did so many things out of convenience that benefitted Abby she was unlikeable, and to demonize Ellie to force us to like Abby is unacceptable.

It is so painfully obvious that Neil and Naughty Dog paid off the critics to give this game 10/10 ratings for it to win almost every single award during last year's GotY Awards.

CGI mess with too many plot holes
2 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm sorry, I really wanted to enjoy this film, especially after the way Desolation ended, and at first the beginning seemed fine with the fall of Laketown, but when the conflict started...oof.

To start things off, how in the world did the orcs get those giant worms that dug them into the battlefield? I hate to be that guy that complains how they weren't in the book, but they weren't. The orcs just showed up and started attacking everyone. Plus it adds a major plot hole to the Lord of the Rings. If the orcs were able to get the worms in this, why didn't they in Two Towers or Return of the King? It would've made their job so much easier, also why didn't they use them to dig through the Lonely Mountain?

I still don't understand the dwarf-elf thing with Fili and Tauriel. Like who asked for that? It made no crucial relevance to the story.

Don't even get me started on Legolas' Jedi run up the collapsing bridge. That almost made me leave the theater when I saw that. I know elves supposedly have better agility than humans, but there's no way they can pull that crap.

Now not every bit of the film was terrible. I still enjoyed Martin Freeman as Bilbo, and of course Ian and Orlando nailed their respective roles, also the music by Howard Shore was great as always, along with the song in the credits done by Billy Boyd, but that was it.

The Predictable story and Horrible Acting overlaps the great CGI
23 June 2021
I'm sorry, but the acting in this movie was HORRENDOUS! Delivigne and Dehaan have literally no chemistry at all in this film. Not to mention the story was so predictable that it literally told you who the bad guy is the very beginning of the film, when it was supposed to be somewhat of a mystery kind of thing.

The only good thing I can say about this film is the CGI. It holds up fairly well, and I do like where Besson was going in making this movie based on the European Comics, but overall this movie was a mess.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (2021 Video Game)

Ratchet and Clank return in a blaze of glory, with new faces
11 June 2021
I just gotta say I've loved the Ratchet and Clank series for years, and to see it come so far has been incredible. This game is no exception. The story is awesome, I love the new character Rivet and her story and I hope to see more of her in future games.

I just gotta say though the graphics are SPECTACULAR! Insomniac really outdid themselves with this game.

Definitely pick this game up! It's awesome.

Anyone that gave this below a 5 doesn't know good content when they see it
11 June 2021
I don't know why this movie got the amount of hate that it did. I loved it. I loved the premise they were going with, giving it a post-apocalyptic vibe made it feel different. The characters weren't "flat" like a lot of people are saying they are, and the story is nowhere near predictable. There were quite a few things in this movie I wasn't expecting.

The story was simply about trust and forgiveness, and that's a good message, especially in crazy days like this.

Definitely check this movie out. It's not perfect, but it's not a terrible film like people are saying it is.

Just one question: WHY?
6 June 2021
I'll admit I was excited to see this when I first saw the trailers, especially after how well I thought Hemsworth and Thompson worked together in Thor: Ragnarok, but boy was this not only a huge letdown, but by golly was it a slap to the face.

While Hemsworth and Thompson's on screen relationship seemed believable, the story was just bland. There wasn't any depth to it at all. The comedy wasn't as good as it was in the trilogy either.

It wasn't as bad as Ghostbusters 2016 (another slap to the face), but it was bad. Just stick to the MiB trilogy.

Venom (2018)

Anyone that says this movie is absolute trash have no idea what they're talking about.
21 May 2021
I guarantee that 90% of the people trashing on this movie didn't even bother to go see it before saying it's absolutely horrible. I went in to watch it not even knowing about the reviews and still loved it. I thought it was a fun movie. While it does have some moments that were "meh" it wasn't enough for it to be a bad movie for me. I thought the casting was good, the CGI was well done and Venom's design looked way better than he did in Spiderman 3.

To say this movie was bad is like saying Disneyland/Disneyworld and it's rides suck, yet you never even bothered to go see them for yourself to truly know what you're talking about. That makes those opinions irrelevant and no one wants to listen to that.

Do yourself a favor and check this movie out. It's not perfect, but no movie ever is, but it is still fun to watch.

Deserves way more praise then it got!
4 May 2021
I don't get how this movie ended up with a 6.9. It's a great movie! The actors fit their roles perfectly, the CGI holds up real nice (especially after 10 years), and the storytelling is top notch. As far as an origin story is concerned for a superhero none other than Captain America they got it well done here, and if you watch this first in chronological order it's sets the tone for the majority of the MCU (Iron Man is and always will be the kickstarter to the MCU, but that doesn't mean our boy in red, white and blue here doesn't deserve some praise)
