Diamantino (2018)

Wtf did i just watch
22 July 2023
Im sitting in my couch this very moment wondering what i just watched. The politics of this movie are... wierd. Ig to have a lesbian couple break up just so diamontino (a man) can have a romantic relationship with what in his head is a child boy who he rescues from poverty is an odd (to put it lightly) decision from the directors. The movie would work perfectly without the lesbian (Aisha) turning straight due to dimantinos massive honkers. The exact same stuff could have happened without the need of converting a lesbian, Aisha could've pretended to be a boy indefinitely, she could've said that she was a secret agent saving him or some bullcrap. Another example is the ideas surrounding EU and immigration, i think the movies message is EU good, Nationalist bad? And that immigrants shouldn't die crossing the ocean?

What does this movie want to tell me? So the message of this movie is totally lost on me.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021–2024)

Hills and valleys, and alleyways dark

My first is a complaint I don't see very often, but for the love of god please light the damn thing. I have watched episodes half not knowing what the characters are doing because the only thing i see is a black screen. It's very annoying and it feels like they tried to save money on animation.

The series main episodes are fantastic like; S2 ep7 and ep8. But sadly for the show, episode 7 and 8 is also the episodes where the main characters aren't present as heavily, I don't hate them but I really don't like them either. What is especially annoying is the writer's insistency that the crew shouldn't make a profit, and the only wins they have is moral ones. And having predominantly moral wins (goals based on ideology, loalty or morality; achieved ) isn't an issue in clone wars where the goal is to defeat the separatists aka the baddies but in bad batch their goal isn't to defeat the empire, their goal is to survive, and you need money and profit to survive.

If most episodes were like 7 and 8 I would give it a 9 but sadly its a really dark 6.

Realism (as in the artistic ism of the latr1800-century)
12 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
For once there wasn't only high pitched comedy action or another insight in yet another powerful; jedi, monarch, politicans life, it was about normal people. I have never seen a trial in star wars or someone getting picked on by a board "police" officer or the act of reminding ur mother to put on the heat. We got for the first time exceptionally realistic people but also realistic revolutions!

Slow, planed, deliberate and surely criminal. No longer are there only innocent blue eyed heroes, but revolutionaries: Che style. For example they showed a group taking hostages and robbing a bank... as a good thing, the films and series before andor would have portrayed this as a "extremist taking it to far" situation which is boring and unrealistic. They also showed that there are different factions besides the alliance, and these factions have a very different view on how society will be post empire.

Besides that there isn't much that hasn't already been said weak cgi in some places but besides that fantastic set design, acting etc.
