KaBlam!: Won't Stick to Most Dental Work (1997)
A great classic episode of Kablam.
I going to keep this brief. Not only this episode has Action League Now, Sniz and Fondue, Prometheus and Bob, and even Life with Loopy, but it also has Henry and June showing their true colors. Happy 25th Anniversary Kablam!
Rick and Morty: Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion (2021)
You want to know what makes a bad Rick and Morty Episode IMO?
Just like the dreaded and poorly written S5E4, which looked like that it was written by a fifth grader that couldn't graduate or know proper English, this is yet another textbook example of one of Rick and Morty's not so great and necessary episodes for the following reasons:
1. An entertaining, but not strong enough plot: This episode does show significant Sci-Fi with the Power Rangers reference at first, but then it got out of touch with the unnecessary Mafia reference build-up structure that was designed for domestic emotional abuse. And like most adventures, Morty is the black sheep of the scenario, but got constantly crapped on by Summer as she looks like an unlikeable and overpowered bully, just to get Rick's attention, even if Rick was shown as a poor example of an uncaring asshole.
2. Weak Joke Telling: Rick and Morty has it's ways to say the right things at the right moments, and sometimes, it doesn't from a randomly chosen talking cat to Rick and Morty being intimately entangled to horse culture. This episode in particular tries to keep up with the wonderful world of Anime and Power Rangers, but after seeing the portrayal, it's like making a dish with ingredients that aren't compatible, or just don't connect successfully.
3. Unnecessary sexual innuendos. To reference from other bad episodes, like dragon sex, or Jerry's privates almost being cut off, or the dreaded S5E4. In a matter of perspective, the angle of sexual practice, even in comedy shows, can be very difficult to show properly, like being creepy instead of funny. One reason that this episode shows it is actually mentioned in the fourth and last reason below.
4. Their worst idea ever, the Incest Baby. It's bad enough that they created that gigantic abomination that shouldn't exist to begin with in their worst episode, now they really want to bring it back again. (Even if it did save the day) I know that cartoon baby characters are cute, but this is like a troll that could be told by Teen Titans Go, when the show tells the viewers to get over it, even if it really is a very bad idea. If there's one thing that I find interesting about Rick and Morty, is that it knows or tries to make good from the bad, like a chemical reaction; sometimes a chemical reaction could spill toxically when not handled or prepared carefully.
Rick and Morty is a good show that stands unique on its' own, but every show has it's bad side and bad episodes, and a definition of a bad episode is something you are not comfortable or interested at watching. At least this almost train-wrecked season was saved by a great Season finale; let's hope that Season 6 will be not only different, but mostly traditional to Rick and Morty Sci-Fi fandom that viewers come to know this show by. Moreover, let's hope to see more of second badass Beth, and little of to no more of the stupid incest baby. (I've always like babies BTW)
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous: The Long Run (2021)
By far the Best Episode of the Season and the Show
*Spoiler Alert*
If there's one thing that this show is good at besides its' extensive use of Jurassic Park/World nostalgia, it is also its' excellent way it portrays the characters and their relationships. This episode is a heartwarming example of that, even with the rocky relationship between Yaz and Sammy.
In the episode, Sammy got infected by the Scorpio Rex's poisonous spikes, and Yaz decided to run a long distance to the medical labs to retrieve a cure in order to save Sammy. The main reason that she chose to do it is because that Yaz told Sammy that their friendship couldn't last forever. Yaz wanted to prove her undying loyalty, even if she was going to sprang her ankle again, but didn't.
Like other episodes, this episode is boldly unique through its' concept of survival perseverance and the true meaning of friendship, even if you need to save someone's life. It also has a good funny/serious balance from the true terror of the Scorpio Rex, to Kenji making cow noises. This episode truly shows that this is an action/adventure made for a family audience.
My Score for this Episode: 9.2/10.
