Grow Up (I) (2017)
2/10
Saw this on Mubi, wasted my time!
22 March 2022
The protagonist has a crisis and spends time with teenagers and is more confused than them? There were moments in between that I enjoyed enough. Liked the spirit but then...it has a lot of background noise, hums, hisses, noisy crowds that can be distracting and sometimes hard to hear dialogue (especially in the opening scene).

More effort could have been put in to prevent that, such as using a shotgun mic that focuses on sound only in the direction it is pointed. I watched because I had nothing better to do and wanted to know how it ended. Was tempted more than once to switch it off.

Would have liked a film to match

Twigs sounds angelic and sweet, while 645AR's melody is bizarre, but somehow kind of gentle, too. Their back-and-forth is as heartfelt as Usher and Alicia Keys on the "My Boo" hook, while their voices are so far off the scale that they're better described as mouse-like squeaks. But they're certainly the most romantic squeaks you'll come across, and the SenseiATL production-reminiscent of the colorful '90s R&B influenced beats currently used by SoundCloud staples like Summrs and Autumn!-elevates the lovestruck mood. It's the summer love song we probably didn't need, but we're lucky to have anyway.

I don't no why some of the people has given negative reviews and less star for this film.

It's comedy movie and teach us the important lesson. Parent in todays era should spend more time with there kids. Should play the outdoor sports and tell them its good for them.

All characters in this film has done good acting.

Could have been longer, not enough depth.
31 March 2021
Pros The film was shot on a small budget (I saw this on YouTube) through the dedication of the team. It was probably shot in the writers local community. I even recognized some of the places myself (although not the canal). Some of the cinematography really sets the tone of the scenes.

Cons The story seemed to lack clarity. The acting was adequate but (perhaps because of the character personalities) the dialog seemed stale. For a short film drama, it all seemed a little bit fake and unengaging to me. I think that with a compression of the story and a couple of good reworks of the script. The actors would have had something to get their teeth into. It seemed too short and more could have been told and would have liked some more dialogue from some of the characters. In my opinion this would have made a much better 15-30 minute short film.

For every Star Wars fan
31 March 2021
I'm a huge Star Wars fan so I can watch the movie and enjoy it any day of the week, however There's a mix of good and bad in this movie. It kinda took to far of a dive into trying to make this movie for children . At times it feels like this movie was made by Disney instead of lucasfilm .

The two worst parts of the movie is undoubtedly any scene jar jar binks is in , and the cringe worthy line from a young 10 year old anakin skywalker who has never flown before "I'll try spinning that's a good trick " he goes from never flying to blowing up a separatist ship , while teaching himself to fly in the process .

I mean I know it's Star Wars but it still feels to unbelievable for even a galaxy far far away . The best part of the movie in my opinion is darth maul, and being able to get a chance to get a look at obi wans mentor Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson). Darth maul leaves such an impression he barley has any dialogue but you can just sense hes someone you don't want to cross paths with , and he proves it in the end of the movie by taking on obi and Qui-Gon in one of the best Star Wars light saber battles in my opinion .

I hope this review helped and I just want to state that by no means do I think it's a bad movie , I don't think any Star Wars movie is bad , but if your not a Star Wars fan it's very possible your not gonna like it.

Carrie (2013)

Lost potential
31 March 2021
They added some aspects from the book, but I really wish they did more. I know it's difficult when doing a remake to balance trying to give an homage for the original script while trying not to sound like a wannabe actress who repeats memorable lines and it falls flat.

Someone did get lazy with adding lines. There isn't really a solid build up of suspense. Trying to have Chris struggle to get the pigs blood bucket to pour out, and showing Chloe-Carrie getting hit with it 3 times...nice try but...it keeps getting lamer. Chloe-Carrie just had her sour face looking confused and confusing. No having the gym teacher survive, Chloe-Carrie to consider Tommy innocent by checking on him, and Sue being pregnant didn't save the film.

Sea Oak (2017 TV Movie)

Just a great show. That's all.
31 March 2021
An incredible pilot , with Glenn Close embracing the insanity of her role and with Jane Levy , Rae Gray and Jack Quaid seeming perfectly casted as the loveable life screw ups Sea Oak grabs you in and makes this 30 minute pilot go by so fast it leaves you begging for the full series.
