House of the Dragon (2022– )

Lacking

If this series was not related to GOT it wouldnt be a bad show to watch but it does not do GOT any justice. It feels like a period drama, albeit in a fantasy period. GOT did an excellent job balancing action, mystery and drama into a solid story that kept you captivated. This series solely focuses on the drama portion. The actors and cinematography are great but the storyline falls very short. With GOT I was disappointed when an episode emds but with this series I found myself with every episode looking at the clock to see if the episode would be over soon so I can carry on with something else.

Maybe I will eat my words and the rest of the season will be spectacular and this first half a season was meant as character building but I still dont feel invested in any characters. They could kill off any of the characters next episode and there would be no disapointment at all.

Hustle (2022)

Well put together

This movie was very entertaining to watch. It didn't make you sit on the edge of your seat or anything but throughout the movie the dialogue and scenes flowed very well and kept me entertained from start to finish. As a basketball fan growing up in the 90's and 00's I really appreciated all the cameo's by NBA players o this may have biased my rating. I really don't think you need to be a basketball fan to enjoy this movie as the story was well written, well casted and flowed very well.

1883 (2021–2022)

Off to a great start

The first 2 episodes were really enjoyable, I think Tim McGraw and Faith Hill did great jobs and to be honest I thought they may hold the show back. Isabel May and Sam Elliot were both great in their roles as well.

I am not a fan of the way Isabel narrates the story, if it wasn't for that there would be one more star. I will admit this is a biased review as I am a fan of westerns when done properly. So far it seems to be more action packed than Yellowstone so if you were into Yellowstone more for the drama this show seems to have that but a bit more action than the drama so far.

Cowboy Bebop (2021– )

Worth watching but not something you will want to watch over again

I think John Cho would have been better with better casting around him, without this my opinion he fell flat. The storyline in general does not flow well, it is very choppy . The episodes are entertaining but with the poor casting and choppy story they aren't memorable. The way they tried so hard to give it the old school feel mixed with the future just did not sit well. The settings, music, clothing, personalities, etc all really tried to push through the 60's feel throughout the movie really did not blend well with futuristic theme.

It would have been nice to have a bit of comedy mixed in, not overdo comedy but I don't think I had a single laugh throughout the whole movie. I think they might have though a few scenes you might laugh but not even close. With the choice of John Cho I think he could have pulled off a little bit of humor to lighten the moods of some scenes. I somewhat enjoyed the series but it had the potential to be a great series but didn't come close.

The Last Duel (2021)

Great intentions, Horrible choice of story

I am a huge fan of medieval history turned to film, even if not completely accurate so I was really excited about this movie. I could think of hundreds of events or wars that would have made a far better story then what Ridley Scott chose. Ridley Scott blames the low ratings on "kids not being able to put down their phones" when really he just picked a horrible story to tell. I don't think he did a bad job directing the film, I think they actors did well in their performance (Matt Damon was questionable in this role), and the cinematography was great but the story was bullet in my head boring.

The Punisher (2017–2019)

What this world needs is more seasons!

I watched this series when it first came out and loved the series. This series does more justice to The Punisher legacy than any of the movies (and I am a fan of the movies). I just finished binge watching the series again and I forgot how good it really is. If you like action there isn't a better series out there.

The Many Saints of Newark (2021)

Enjoyable but lacking

Anyone who loved the Sopranos series will enjoy this movie for the characters in it. The story was decent overall but to me the ending was a bit lacking. Movies usually have a climax and a conclusion but I didn't really feel like this movie had either. The movie feels like it was a build up to a part 2, which if they make would be an even better story.

Werewolves Within (2021)

I enjoyed this movie more than expected

Is this movie a blockbuster you will be talking about at work? No Is this movie one that will keep you on the edge of your seat? No

But going into watching it not having these expectations I found the movie to be very enjoyable and worth watching. It has the feel more of a Whodunnit movie than a typical werewolf movie.

The Green Knight (2021)

What did I just watch?

I have been looking forward to this movie for a long time to come out, the trailer made it seem like an interesting story. The show in itself was really painfully slow. I enjoyed parts of it and the acting was well performed, but it was far too dramatic for my liking. Hollywood critics will probably rave about the masterpiece of this movie but I think the normal viewer walk away feeling extremely disappointed. I am glad I watched it once but it is not a movie I would want to watch a second time.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)

Kevin Smith Should have just made She-Ra

I enjoyed seeing the He-Man characters brought back to life and like many here I liked the voice actors. My main gripe is the fact that He-Man wasn't a main character in a show about him. It would be like having a superman show but it is only about Lois Lane.

Emerald City (2016–2017)

I enjoyed this way more than I expected

The acting was spot on, the story was unique, and it felt like something new. It is disappointing that they never went with a second season but if you are into the fantasy genre this is a must watch.

The Misfits (2021)

I wanted to like it because I am an action movie fan and like Pierce but this was painful. Nick needs to stick to hosting game shows that he doesn't need to act in.

All American (2018– )

Good, but slowly getting worse

I really enjoyed Season 1, and enjoyed season 2. Season 3 starts to slide a lot away from Football and into more of a 90210/Degrassi High type of show. Season 4 went the drama way as well from an athletic show. I really enjoy when they base it off the young athletes life and struggles around their sport but the drama is just getting too much. They don't even show football games anymore, just the odd locker room gossip time.

The actors all play their parts really well, it is well casted and the characters have enough depth to enjoy the show, it is just the storyline that is making it become boring and painful as the seasons go on.

Maybe the show has better ratings going for the high school drama rather than being based on Football like the season 1 succeeded in doing, and I am not the intended demographic being a male older than high school but my interest is severely waning in this show.

The Tomorrow War (2021)

Better than expected

There have been a lot of alien movies in the past but this one seems unique. Part of the movie has a Battle: Los Angeles feel to it with more story and depth. I like how the movie goes a bit further past the typical ending point and carries the story a bit further. The characters were cast well and played their part well. Overall a good fast paced action movie with a good cast and unique twist to the alien invasion genre.

Nobody (I) (2021)

Nailed it

Awesome movie if you like action with a bit of comedy. The cast played their roles perfectly and the fighting was John Wick but a bit more down to earth. I really hope they make a sequel, they don't make action movies like this.

The Rookie (2018– )

Awesome show

The whole cast is great for their roles, I am late to the party on this show but I recently binge watched the first 2 seasons. The show has the perfect blend of comedy, action and drama. Many of these genre shows go to much drama that slows down the show too much but they found the right mix with this show.

Superman & Lois (2021–2024)

Off to a good start

I am grateful that the show didn't just do another remake of the coming of age of Superman, too many times superhero shows just retell the same story you have heard already. I really hope they keep it action based and exciting instead of going overly dramatic land slow down like a drama. The characters seem well cast and all suit their roles well.

Wish They Were Characters We Cared About

Watching this I feel like Marvel is grasping at how to create content. They have played out the characters everyone fell in love with Marvel over (Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, etc) and instead of tapping into the vast Marvel Universe to bring in new characters they moved on to the bench players that no one really cares about. Most previous main Marvel characters are good protagonists and they have solid antagonists but with Falcon and Bucky being B rated characters it will be very difficult to really get into their story. Marvel writers need to go through the archive and read all the old comics again to get better ideas.

The Unicorn (2019–2021)

Love the cast

This is a show I never thought I would appreciate but I really enjoy it. The cast is awesome and plays their roles great. The comedy is on point and the episodes flow like Seinfeld and Friends did without having to try as hard as other new sitcoms.

I really wanted to like this show being a huge fan of the Marvel universe but WOW is this show bad. I really don't know what demographic this show was made for but it definitely is painful to try to watch. I think the actors did a fine job portraying their roles but everything else about this show is extremely disappointing. I really hope Loki is completely different than this series.
