Review by Zhuge was spot on
16 February 2022
First of all I did watch it the whole way through. And I love independent films and enjoy seeing good low budget films. This may be indie and low budget but it was definitely not good. The best actor was mediocre and the rest went down from there. They may have been better but the dialogue was so bad it kept them from showing they had any talent.

Fight choreography was attrocious. Costuming was anything goes, the Picts were the worst. I have to say the lighting was pretty good, using natural light and fire light as well as during an indoor fight scene.

That's it. Watch it if you have some time to waste.

Slayed (2020)

So much better than expected
25 December 2020
When an unrated movie has two main characters that are responsible for the script and the direction of the film I usually expect it will be schlock. However In this case, Slayed was absolutely not. The scenario for the story was a little implausible, the script nonetheless, worked through it explaining why and and all of the motivations for the horror that takes place. The characters were well developed and the acting was very good, from the one teenage victim who portrays true realistic fright. I thought they might not have told her what was going to happen, her screaming and physical actions were so true to life, to the security guard who wants to be a movie star which you can't help but believe and almost feel sorry for. The movie really moved, it ended in what felt like 30 minutes but was actually 74 minutes. Give it a go, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Who Knew?!?
21 August 2020
Very enlightening. I was surprised by a lot of the information. This is a game changer for me and my husband. The documentary itself was well done, packed with info, humor and inspiring stories. It was entertaining as well as educational. Well done!

Waste of time to put it nicely
7 July 2020
The acting wasn't too bad. The story was confusing and the pacing didn't help. It was hard to watch until the end and then it pissed me off because it was so awful.

Loners (2019)

Pls disregard the 4 star review
18 April 2020
This movie was very funny. The characters are sad loners that think they want to stay that way. Forced together in a support group with the worst therapist ever, they come together to overcome their oppression. The story is a clever satire. The characters are recognizable and funny. The writing is excellent as is the acting. You'll enjoy it.

The Chosen (2017– )

So beautiful and faithful
13 April 2020
I agree with all of the glowing reviews above. The Chosen was beautifully filmed and the acting was excellent. Although I think Jesus' hair should have been longer and Peter should have been bigger, these actors really brought their characters to life. I also loved the backstories for the characters we don't really know, like Matthew and Nicodemus. What the writers have provided are very plausible situations that tie logically right into the stories we do know. This makes the series believable, totally engrossing and very moving. Jesus is portrayed as totally human and yet makes it clear that he is much more than that and his followers can feel that. I will continue to watch and rewatch the series while contributing what I can to continue the production of the follow on films.

I dont like chase scenes but this was exhilarating
15 December 2019
If you gave it less than 5 watch it again and pay attention. It seems that those that gave this a low rating did not listen in the beginning, otherwise you would have understood the plot. This is the type of movie where you have to stop being a continuity nazi and just be willing to suspend your disbelief and go with the flow.

Draug (2018)
9/10
This hit everything almost perfectly
12 November 2019
It is the story of an area in 11th century Sweden which had been converted to christianity and where some local folks had been too hard on some of the pagan remnants. When a missionary disappears in this forested area, a village deputy gets a "posse" together to go onto the forest to retrieve him and his companions. The searchers are attacked by bandits at the edge of the forest and then, as they get further in, they are attacked by something else. These are the Draug.

As a historical movie it is very accurate; nothing anachronistic to distract in the dialogue, costuming, or sets. The acting was very good and the scenery was exceptional. Both used to advantage in telling a spooky story based on Norse mythical creatures. We loved it

The Unwelcoming House (2019 Video)
7/10
Very believable
3 June 2019
The story is compelling and told in a very normal, ordinary way. You believe he believes the story and you do get drawn in. The house and family seem normal except for the pesky problem of the evil ghost. The timing itself is a little amateurish but that's to be expected because it is a 1st person narrative and the main character does the filming. The writing and the acting are very natural and well done. This was a surprising good movie.

Morning Star (I) (2014)

Many plots. Many morals
17 April 2019
This is much better than people are crediting it. The cinimarography alone should give it a high rating. The acting was a little thin all around, no one stood out, well maybe the witch, but the screenplay was very light. By this I mean sparse dialogue which gives you room to THINK. The story is not fed to you like pablum. Perhaps I liked it so much because of this. Also. The costuming was excellent and the use of natural lighting really added to the story. Watch this movie with an open mind. Perhaps, when you are in a more introspective mood.

Extremity (2018)

Not sure what the poor reviewers were expecting
3 February 2019
I watched this expecting a horror movie with more extreme scares and gore but was pleasantly surprised with good acting and a more complicated plot than. The cinematography was very good. Some scenes were really quite beautifully filmed and juxtaposed with quite horrific scenes which added to the tension. What might be considered somewhat humorous or lighter scenes with the sisters that take the main character for a "run" or the Japanese filmmakers end up being twisted as well. There are many more psychological levels here than most reviewers have given the film credit for. Watch it yourself and keep an open mind.

The Actor (I) (2018)
3/10
Heavy Handed poorly done satire
6 December 2018
The acting was passable considering that the screenplay was so bad. The scenes were so uneven particularly the last one with the detectives. This was the worst thing I've seen in years and I watch B Horror movies! Unfortunately it is not bad enough to recommend as a "funny, you gotta' see this, it's SOOOOO bad" kind of movie". Keep trying though.
