only the special-effects make it worth the while...
8 July 2002
really: Bad story, terrible Hollywood love-scenes... I should give it a

5 or bellow. But then the great special-effects save it again, and

makes it worthwhile. And only because of these effects it is

another of those movies you don't want to miss on the big screen,

but are not really worth-it...

o.k. it's an eight
8 July 2002
To be honest, I think if I would see the film now, I would vote a 6.5

or 7, but at the time, when I saw it at cinema, it made a huge

impression: Being a kid, ripped away from the parents and then

living through those hardships! And then the great scene of the

airplanes flying over the camp! Wow! So... it's an eight!

fairytale

Strange how some people call this film respectles. They say so, because the images of the concentrationcamp would be idialising and much to 'positive' about how it looked there in reallity. The whole point of the movie is not the historical correctnes, but the fact that it is a modern fairytale! I think it is one of the best films ever.

Comic with real life actors
1 August 2001
This film is great, basicly being a comic-strip film with real life actors. The world it depicts is strange: It is not fantasy-like, and not science-fiction like. It's more like the sad Eastern Europe after the cold war. And also the behaviour of the actors is strange, unhuman. Like in comicstrips

Best parodie to a livestyle
1 August 2001
Manta manta is one of the funniest films I ever saw. The film is a parody description of a parallel world that has existed in Europe in the eighties and nineties. And may be still: It's the world of Opel Manta drivers, of man called 'Mani' and blonde women, often hairdressers called 'Ushi'. All sharing one passion:

OPEL MANTA

Great Parody
1 August 2001
Great parody in the way 'rockers' and their stories are being made fun of. The absurd stories of death of their bandmembers. The painfull way the band is getting to see their popularity is waning. And so one! Great!
