so sad
15 February 2021
I grew up loving carry on films, I still think that kind of humour is brilliant

this true life film based on his diaries is the most depressing and sad film I've ever watched, what a sad story of a man who was so funny and who brought laughter to millions

worth watching as a precautionary tale, acting 1st class as always by the lead, was surprised to find out he lived just a few streets away from where I have lived since arriving in London

no one should live a life like this

truly sad

This film deserves an Oscar
22 January 2021
This film deserves an Oscar, in its entirety as a film, not for any individual or item, the film overall had me crying, (50 yr old man here) and laughing.

(I have now read other feedback, and am now more amazed by the facts, Mark Whalberg was heavily involved in all aspects of this movie - he deserves recognition for how absolutely incredible this film is, honestly, he's beyond talented for having produced this).

An incredibly emotive movie. Beautiful, kind, genuine, inclusive, heart wrenching. I don't think I've ever been so in awe of a movie concept - I'm having difficulty putting my feelings into words - it's the overall end product - this movie is incredible.

I've only bothered to make 2 other feedbacks on movies, and at 50yo I've watched plenty!

This movie manages to make an incredibly serious, and sad, but honest part of life on earth, into the most incredible moving and genuine story that makes those of us lucky enough to have love and family, realise just how lucky we are if we have family and love, and that such love et al takes all kinds of forms and should be truly appreciated.

Honestly, this is one of the most inspiring, heartfelt, emotive 90 minutes I have ever experienced, Absolutely incredible, especially given it's a true reflection of what goes on every day around us, that many of us do not and cannot ever fully appreciate.

Beautiful, excellent acting, absolutely incredible script, had me laughing out loud, and then literally crying, but thankfully tears of joy at the end.

Truly remarkable.

One of the best movies I've ever experienced, for the effect / impact it had on me. Truly inspiring.

The ending, plot not given away by reading this.
22 January 2021
Enough reviews about the series, I enjoyed, excellent, intriguing.

I want to write in response to lots of queries over the ending!

I believe that the daughter had taken part in a make up of the plan that the secret service had inklings about, and that her writer friend was also involved with MI5/6 and had been able to feed in to the comedy episode shown on the TV which brought all the dastardly plans to an abrupt end, after the daughter had unwittingly revealed a conversation with her dad.

So it all makes sense if you take this into account.

The missing son storyline, which again a lot of people were perplexed by, I believe again was that he had provided information to MI5/6 as soon as he had become aware, and had been advised to disappear to protect himself, and his preferred way of vegan life.

Overall, as good as any Agatha Christie. Kept you intrigued and confused right till the end!

I loved the acting, especially the lead lady.
