The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango (2023)
Horrible script!
I was really looking forward to a new movie with Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp. I know these 2 are wonderful together so it was just an awful script. The disjointed plot, the sequence of events and the dialog was terrible.
I was hoping it would be a series but it's going to have to improve tenfold. It was as if they were short on time and cut out entire scenes that were integral to the flow of the movie. What a downer.
I've seen every Hallmark movie starring these actors so I know they are fantastic together but I guess even their chemistry can't save a bad movie. Please give them some decent material to work with next time!
If you get the chance, watch them in Love, Romance & Chocolate and Christmas Waltz. I have watched these movies many times over! Absolutely love both the acting and the scripts!
We Need a Little Christmas (2022)
Sweet and refreshing!
I've seen this movie a few times already. It's sweet and different from the usual feel good Hallmark movie.
I love the actor who plays the son, Gavin. Aziel Dalman. He is just the sweetest boy and perfect for the role he plays. I think he's the star of the movie.
It's a great movie for the holidays and I'll be watching it every year now.
Another plus is that it did not have the gratuitous snowball fight or kiss at the end of the movie. Hallmark proved that they can stray from the usual predictable script. I hope they will produce more original material. Lately Hallmark has been doing just that.
Her Pen Pal (2021)
Love Mallory Jansen but not the plot of this movie
After I saw Mallory Jansen in On the 12th Date of Christmas, I was so anticipating another movie starring her. So I was excited to hear about this new movie. I still love her but this storyline couldn't be saved. The actor was too handsome to believe he was unattached for over a decade, just waiting for her. The rest of the movie was predictable and not engaging at all.
I didn't even finish the movie.
In the meantime, I'll watch On the 12th Date of Christmas, every chance I get, while waiting for another Jansen movie. Just give her a decent script!
Snowkissed (2021)
Reviewer confirmations
To be honest. I didn't see this movie because I am not a fan of Jen Lilly. She has turned me off with her snarkiness and rudeness in the few movies I have seen of hers. But I decided I would read some of the reviews to see if anything had changed.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. A majority of the reviewers confirmed my opinion with many negative reviews. Hallmark...are you listening?
Love at First Bark (2017)
Stopped watching after 30 minutes
Jana Kramer portrayed a character so snarky and was such a know-it-all that I couldn't keep watching hoping would get better.
Why does Hallmark think antagonism is a great storyline, especially when it's one-sided or unwarranted? Do we really treat people we just met with rudeness?
Sometimes certain actresses are too good at snarkiness. I'll have to see if other Jana Kramer movies fall into the same pattern before I cross her off my do-not-watch list.
After All These Years (2013)
Refreshing! Not your typical young, good-looking main actors.
What a refreshing departure for Hallmark! Kudos for casting an older woman as the main star of the movie. On top of that, the storyline is fun and engaging.
Wendie Malick is good in all her movies. There are a lot of roles in the movie which makes it a bit confusing to follow but it's still enjoyable. Give it a try!
Like Cats & Dogs (2017)
Cats, dogs and romance...what's not to like?
Great casting on people and animals! This is the first and only Cassidy Gifford movie I have seen. I wish she would star in more Hallmark movies. She is a natural. Both She and Wyatt Nash have great chemistry. First and only movie I've seen with him too.
The story is sweet. Their romance develops naturally. It doesn't start out with ex-boy/girlfriends meeting up again after many years or after a bad breakup. I'm really getting tired of that Hallmark plot.
Please bring them back with more enjoyable scripts!
Sweet Autumn (2020)
Tiresome storyline
I used to like Nikki DeLoach but after watching several of her movies I have tired of the snarky, know it all attitude she portrays. Maybe it's the Hallmark scripts that keep repeating the same theme. Hallmark needs to show more originality or risk losing their fan base. Rude acting is starting to turn me off.
Christmas in Homestead (2016)
Easy way to pass some time
Normally I don't watch Taylor Cole movies. I don't find her engaging so her movies don't keep me focused. But if you like kids then watch it to see Brooklyn Rae Silzer as the mayor's daughter. She is just the cutest and most adorable kid!
The movie has a few storylines besides just on the main actors so this also makes this movie worth watching.
Radio Christmas (2019)
Distracting lead actor
Unfortunately, I couldn't watch more than 15 minutes of this movie. Forget 90+ minutes! The false eyelashes of the main actor, Keshia Knight Pulliam, were so distracting the story was lost on me.
Christmas Waltz (2020)
Was thoroughly impressed and charmed!
Kudos to Lacey Chabert for how well she took on the challenge of dancing for this movie. She was so graceful and elegant! In most of her movies she looks so self-conscious clutching a shoulder bag or throwing a snowball (at the most inopportune times, I might add) that her dancing skills were that much more impressive.
I am a huge Chabert fan. I make sure to see all her movies. I think she does a great job conveying emotions and engaging the viewers. Yes - many comment on her nervous giggle at times which can be annoying. I wish the movie editors would just cut out the giggles. How hard could that be?
I have a crush on her dancing partner, Will Kemp. too. I love all his Hallmark movies. He no doubt made Lacey's dancing accomplishments a bit easier. lol
All in all, it was a nice change of pace from the usual Hallmark Christmas repertoire. It actually could be aired year round.
The child acting and dance performers were wonderful and helped to make the movie finale quite special.
The end was a bit abrupt. I wouldn't have minded seeing more.
Don't miss it!
On the 12th Date of Christmas (2020)
A gem I could watch all year round!
I literally signed up to IMDb just so I could review this movie. I just couldn't contain my love of this movie! lol
For me, Mallory Jansen was the main reason I loved this movie. I must admit that initially the fact that she looks like Audrey Hepburn (my all-time favorite actress) drew me in but she is wonderful on her own. I DVR'd the movie and every time I watch it I appreciate how expressive she is. She can communicate so well without saying a word! She's sweet and engaging and I hope Hallmark brings her back for more!
The chemistry between Mallory and Tyler Hynes is natural and evolves, unlike many of the Hallmark instantaneous attractions, some of which are downright unbelievable. Don't get me started on that! Here the chemistry was much more real and engaging!
The formula of the movie is very original. Not the overused Hallmark theme where one of the stars starts out with a motive and keeps it from the other.
As far as the supporting cast, I felt they were all well cast in their roles.
My wish is that excellent reviews will incentivize Hallmark to bring back Jansen and Hynes with innovative storylines like this one. Please!
