Boring
3 February 2023
Can't point to any thing specific, the entire movie just seemed kind of flat and meh and literally nothing envoked any emotional connection for me. T'challas fathers death in Civil War was for me waaaaaay more impactful than anything in this entire movie, eventhough he had very little screen time in that movie.

Iron Hearth could just as well have been left out of the movie, as she has almost no development or character...and the suit is horrible.

Most of the other characters, I can't say much about as I just didn't care about them. Except M'baku which is still great.

Shuri was fine...I guess.

I was really not expection it to be this damn good
7 June 2022
First off, the less you know about the movie going in the better.

Second you really should take the time to watch this whether you like Nick Cage movies or not.

The movie constantly switches between genres, it is basically like 3 movies layered on top of each other throughout the movie....it really shouldn't work, but by some miracle it does.

The chemistry between Cage and Pascal is amazing, funny and at times heartwarming.

Don't want to spoil anything, but do your self a favour and watch this movie.

Pretty entertaining
20 May 2022
Nothing new or spectacular, but besides underwhelming but serviceable CGI, I was well entertained.

Acting is decent, and there are some tense moments.

All in all pretty decent B Movie.

Decent but kind of meh
4 September 2021
The movie as a whole is a decent watch. It has some great ideas and fight scenes, but it all just seems a little shallow, and like the movie is scare of commit to anything so it just ends up falling like none of the great potential ever amounts to any thing.

The actor who portrays Shang Chi does a good job, but he unfortunately does not get much depth to work with, he starts and ends his character ark at basically the same spot, he does not really get any moments to express any real emotion.

For me there are 3 main problems.

1. The sister character is only there to show a female character can be a badass..."we know, don't cram it down our throats" it makes it feel forced, and takes away the impact of the character. But the main problem of focusing so much on her is that the main character in the story never really gets enough time to develop a character.

2. The Mandarin, never feels really intimidating og loving, they try to be so middle of the road on everything with this character, that he neither feels believeable as any of those opposites or as "real person" in general. A shame because I don't think the actor is to blame, it is simply poor writing and directing.

3. Shang Chi, doesn't feel like he has much impact on the story, especially in the second half, where the is more focus on secondary roles than him. And his impact on the final battle is minimal at best. The first half of the movie is clearly the stongest, and goes kinda downhill from there.

There is one special cameo though, that is sure to delight and give some laughs.

Over all it was worth a watch, but not much more than that.

Crappy episode
18 August 2021
None of the characters match their personalities and makes T'challa like the most perfect human ever. Marvel characters have always been great because they are NOT perfect, they are human (for the most part) and humans are fundamentally flawed.

Really dissappointed, this episode had nothing interesting to explore or say and felt misplaced from everything the MCU has previously built.

Surprisingly good and intriguing series
17 February 2020
This series didn't really catch my interest from the trailers, but I was bored and watched it anyway, and now I can't wait for season 2. It is one of the best uses of nordic mythology I have ever see, the acting, characters and story are all great and I would advise actually watching it in the original Norwegian audio and simply reading the subs. No spoilers, but I would recommend it to almost anyone

Weird for the sake of being weird
18 May 2019
I think you have to be an art fanatic, in the sense where only a select few will appreciate this nonsense and call it art, claiming they see a million hidden meanings to everything. I call BS, this is simply just a waste 2 hours of your life, where a few simple subjects are given an extremely surreal spin to make them feel artsy and let pretensious people claim it is simply because you are not smart enough to understand it, that you can't see how brilliant it is. It's just garbage

Absolutely incredible show
26 April 2019
This show is the true Karate kid sequel I didn't even now I needed, but now I can't imagine a world without it.

It is a perfect continuation of the story, with amazing call backs to the previous films.

I really hope it keeps going for season after season.

I don't want to spoil it for you, just watch it, especially if you are a fan of the movies.

Just wish that stupid Demetri kid gets his ass handed to him. He seriously needs a good beating from the Cobra Kais...or literally anyone and everyone XD

A watchable movie that could have been great
9 March 2019
Maybe Brie Larson really is the world class actress people keep saying she is, but she sure does not show it in this movie.

The movie has an interesting story at its core, but it just fails to deliver on it due to the wooden performance by Brie and the often hollow execution.

The biggest problem is that the movie tries to make Captain Marvel a feminist icon instead of just an incredible character that men and women alike can look up to. She has no personality to speak of, no flaws of weaknesses you can relate to like all the other great Marvel characters. The feminism propaganda is so heavy handed it often feels like it is literally being shoved down the audiences throats and it really takes you out of the movie. Sam jackson plays his part well, but it feels like he is playing a completely different character. Sam Mendelson, Anette Bening and Jude Law for the most part do a great job.

The makers of the movie are also pushing Captain Marvel as the "end all, be all" of the MCU that it is devaluating all the other characters. A couple of scenes really screw up what was built up in previous movies.

I makes me sad that this movie could have been so much more, but ended up mostely being a forced political statement that hurts female leads more than it helps.

Here's hoping Scarlet will set things right with the Black Widdow movie and that Hollywood realizes that great female leads comes from great acting and a good story, not by trying to force a message

So much potential, but ultimately so disappointing
25 March 2016
I'm so sad to have to say this but unfortunately this is not a great movie it's not even a good movie, it's a passable movie and that is just not good enough for a story of this caliber.

Here is a summation of the best and worst things about the movie.

The good:

Affleck is great as Batman, and I look forward to seeing a sole batman film with him.

The scenes with Wonder Woman in civilian disguise are very intriguing

Henry Cavill is still well cast as Superman.

Jeromy Irons is a good Alfred.

The bad:

There are so many interesting story lines and ideas in the film, but none of them are seen to a satisfying conclusion, if they even receive one at all.

The doomsday fight is shallow, you have no emotional involvement in the scene and you don't care about the stakes. Unfortunately he seems completely unnecessary as he himself is not the actual threat, but the pulses he emits feel like the only real danger.

No of what Lex Luthor does makes sense. He actes like the Joker from the Dark Knight, just wanting to create chaos with no real point to it all. That's no the way Lex should act.

The Justice League stuff is just awful, it seems so cheesy and stupid especially Cyborg and Aquaman.

The movie wants to do so much, but ultimately does so little and what it does do ends up feeling unfulfilling and as a wasted opportunity.

The Flash (2014–2023)

Entertaining but stupid
18 January 2016
The show is actually very entertaining, but it unfortunately suffers from constantly ranging between being a little dumb to going all out and being insanely stupid. It's full of potential, but would be a lot better if there weren't so many gaps in logic and moments that are way too cheesy. On the plus side it has some very likable characters and an intriguing overarching plot.

If you can look past these things you'll probably like the show. It's targeted at a younger audience and similar to Smallville and Arrow, so if you like those show give the Flash a watch, but be prepared for it being the cheesiest superhero show out there.

1 step forward, 5 steps backwards
13 May 2014
I am a big Spider-man fan, but never really felt like any of the movies really hit the mark, but Spider-man 2 came closest.

I'm really disappointed with The Amazing Spider-man 2, most of all because it had so many good things going for it, but ultimately ends up feeling like a bad movie because for every good thing, there are 5 bad things.

First the good: Most of the casting choices are very good, especially for Peter, Gwen and Harry. The costume looks awesome (most of the time, some times it's waaay to shiny) The relationships between Peter and Gwen and also between Peter and Harry, feel real. Interesting visual palet. The Gwen climax is pretty good.

The Bad: The Max character is just plain stupid, and feels like something straight out of Batman and Robin. The Electro character lacks any real personality or motivation. The Rhino character is perhaps even more stupid than the Max character. Both before and after becoming Rhino. The romance between Peter and Gwen can be a bit too much at times and almost feel like a twilight movie covered with a little Spider-man paint. The doctor Kafka character is also insanely stupid. The movie is so busy building up to the sinister six movie, that this movie forgets to have a plot of it's own and all the interesting story lines that are started in the movie, never reaches a fulfilling end. The little kid in the spider-man costume, feels ridiculous and annoying. People constantly lining up right next where Spider-man is fighting the villains, with no concern for their own safety, and the villains never attack them...apparently because they are standing behind a safety railing...and who the hell puts up all these safety railings so fast every time Spiderman fights. All of the sinister six characters are just some equipment created by Oscorp, essentially making all the characters behind the villains completely irrelevant, as anyone can be the Rhino or Doc Ock. Peters mother and father flee and leave Peter behind to protect him, which makes no sense as in more danger left alone.

The worst part is that I could easily keep listing bad things.

The movie gets some things right, but also takes hugs steps backwards towards the stupid campy superhero movies like Batman and Robin.

The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror XXIV (2013)
Season 25, Episode 2

Amazing intro, terrible episode
8 October 2013
The intro directed by guillermo del toro is amazing, it really captures the feeling of halloween and the best Treehouse of horror episodes. What I really want is a full length episode of this quality.

That is not the case how ever, all three segments are boring, with the first being the best and most original, the second is horrible and is too much of a rip-off of a previous episode, the third is just boring.

I really miss when the Treehouse of Horror specials were centered around classic horror, like ghosts, vampires, zombies and such and I realize it's hard to keep it interesting if you just reuse the same ideas over and over, but when it's a halloween special I just think it should have a scary theme and there are still plenty of great horror movies to take inspiration from.

Terrible and disappointing
13 October 2012
I was actually looking forward to this film after having read and enjoyed the book, However what I was expecting and what I got were two completely different things. The movie has practically nothing to do with the novel, the stories are very different and not for the better.

The movie constantly jumps many years ahead, leaving important questions unanswered, it's as though the producers knew the movie was terrible and just wanted it over with as soon as possible. As I said this leaves many questions unanswered, you are never given any real reason for the different characters motivations besides some very shallow reasons. You never really care about the characters because the movie does not spend any time developing them. And even the main character mr. Lincoln himself is not given much motivation for going in to the vampire hunting trade, nor for becoming a lawyer, politician or president.

What the novel did so well making all the characters so human and making you feel that all the sacrifices that Abraham makes through his long and lonely life, are worth it in the end. Instead we get a shallow and stupid movie that has nothing to do with the book and trades a great story for ridiculous action and a super hero like Abraham Lincoln.

Take my advise, don't ever waste your time watching this piece of garbage, but pick up the book instead because that one is actually good.

Just a final note, no I would not have liked the movie any more if I had not read the book first, but I probably would have never read the book afterwards, which would have been a shame.

No spoilers
21 August 2012
The title of this review is "no spoilers" not only because I won't spoil anything for you, but also because you should definitely go into to this movie, knowing as little about it as possible.

What you need to know is that this movie is WEIRD and it will divide people, some will love it for being so different and crazy, others will hate it and just think it's stupid.

If you want to get the most out of this movie, don't label it a horror, Slasher, comedy, thriller, adventure film, because it is none of these and yet it has elements of many different genres.

You get a feeling of classic Whedon with this movie, and if you like what he's done in the past, you will most likely like this one as well. It often feels like one of the crazier episodes of "Buffy the vampire slayer" if it had been a full length movie, that is all you need to know.

This really is a great movie, but you have to be able to let the movie step out of the box you normally define genre movie by, and just accept the weirdness of this tale. If you do then you might just love it as well.

Good movie, but nothing more
23 July 2012
The Dark Knight Rises is the final chapter in Chris Nolans Batman trilogy. I will not go in to details, just in case you haven't seen it yet.

As Nonal has said from the beginning this was the last movie in his Batman universe and therefore he has tried to tie up every loose end, and close the movie of without a cliffhanger or the sense that there will be more to come.

I will avoid spoiling anything, but the ending is most likely the part of the film that will split peoples views of the film the most. I personally didn't really like it all that much, but it also didn't, ruin the movie for me.

This is more of a Bruce Wayne movie than a Batman movie (much like the Amazing Spider-Man movie), as Bale is only in his cape and cowel for maybe like 30 mins. of the movie. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I would have liked just a little more Batman as this is the last chance to see him in this line of Batman movies.

There are tons of amazing set pieces and big money shots, but nothing that will really blow you away like The Dark Knight did. Unfortunately they way too often show Gotham from camera angles, from which anyone in the world can clearly see it's actually Manhatten, NY, it's a little thing but it sadly ruins the illusion that Gotham could be a real place.

All in all it's a very good film, that captures the feeling of the previous films very well, it moves along at a little slower pace, but that doesn't matter. I wasn't absolutely in love with it and I'd suggest people don't listen to the ones calling it "the greatest movie of all time" and such, because you will most likely be disappointed if that's what you're expecting (unless it's the only movie you've ever seen, then you may agree ;)

Would not even scare a baby
4 May 2009
I was not expecting a lot from this movie and yet I was still disappointed. The directing is so god awful it's actually painful to watch and the reason for me saying this is that every single shot is a missed opportunity. It's like they intentionally looked at the scene and said wow it would be really scary if we filmed from these angles, with this lighting and these sound effects and background music....and the went in the complete opposite direction. This might all be on purpose because the movie studio thought it would make more money on a cheesy movie that even the biggest wuss would dare to see.

Besides all this it lacks several of the other key elements:

1. Bad character development - you don't care about the characters at all or relate to them.

2. Lame killer - No reason for him killing the people (Yes a killer with no motives can be scary, but it's very hard to pull off and this movie doesn't come close...at all) And also no reason for the way a does it and no back story.

3. Just generally a poor story that seems half baked and with lots plot holes and stupid ideas.

So to sum up...NO ! this is not a good movie.

I really love horror movies and I hope someone will come along and bring the genre back on track (Basically it's needs the Begins/Dark Knight treatment...In which I mean it has to be a serious project for all the parties involved)
