Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Last 75 minutes were incredible
I'll admit, after about an hour and a half I was starting to get a little worried that this was just about world building, which, don't get me wrong was entertaining and did have some great moments to keep me interested, but the last hour to hour and a half saved this movie and more. The action sequences, emotions, cinematography, score, and so much more came together so incredibly to make a truly memorable movie. In my opinion it far surpassed the original and also sets up sequels really well, as we now know the characters better, and I'm excited to rewatch this before the third movie comes out.
Rick and Morty: Rick: A Mort Well Lived (2022)
This should be much higher.
After watching this, I came here to give it an easy 10, expecting it to be another 9.0+ episode, or at least like 8.8, but I was so surprised to see it at an 8.1. The idea and concept of the 5 billion Morty's was so funny and interesting, and literally spanning a whole lifetime of Rick as Roy trying to save Morty and escape was so fun to watch. And while Summer's die hard was not as complex, it was still really entertaining and funny. Are you all seriously gonna tell me that this episode was worse than Vindicators? Because, by far it is better and I'd compare this in quality to the opener of this season, or season 5's opener, and its' a great standalone episode. I hope we got a lot of canon this season, but we need classic rick and morty episodes like this too.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
So far disappointing, but I haven't give up on it yet.
I'll admit, I had higher expectations going into this, and was thoroughly disappointed by the first two episodes. Of course, as you've probably heard, the huge budget does make some scenes pretty pleasing to watch, but this can't make up for the lack of story or interest in the characters so far. Maybe this is due to the fact that there are four separate storylines going on, each with a similar amount of screentime. This cuts down what should be 2 hours of story to 30 minutes of four stories. This makes the two hours feel like a worthless investment, giving us nothing substantially interesting yet as the stories are just getting set up. However, I will continue to watch, as I'm sure the stories connect and there is a purpose, I just hope I won't need to watch too much more like this before it begins to pay off.
The Rehearsal: Pretend Daddy (2022)
Wow.
Honestly, the whole part around the kid not being able to let go of Nathan, who he thought was his dad was so sad. Him saying "I don't want you to be Nathan" over and over was just heartbreaking. And the last 3 seconds made me laugh so hard though, I didn't expect that.
The Rehearsal (2022)
After the finale, easy 10
In the end, I was so confused on what this show was and what it was trying to accomplish, as it strayed far from the simple (yet still amazingly complex) first episode. And yet even through the confusion came lots of emotion in what must be the most original tv series ever.
Better Call Saul: Saul Gone (2022)
It's all gone, man
I've never once cried during any breaking bad or better call saul episode. And there I was, one minute left with this final episode, thinking I never would. I was perfectly satisfied with the finale up until that point, and I felt like everything had concluded perfectly. And then, as Kim walked away, Jimmy did those finger guns. And I have no idea why, but that was it right there. A tear rolled down my cheek as it all hit me, the end of an era. I don't know why it was that simple movement, but it made me realize that it was over. Perfect finale, amazing series.
Mr. Robot (2015)
Greatest Series of All Time
After watching season 4, I can confidently say that this is the greatest television series of all time. Seasons 1 and 2 are pretty well done, and entertaining, but the pace really picks up with season 3 and season 4 is just amazing. Honestly, 407 and 413 just blow my mind, the reveals in both those episodes were perfect and emotional. And, now starting to rewatch it, I see a brilliant amount of foreshadowing that makes it clear Sam Esmail knew where this was going from the beginning.
Mr. Robot: Hello, Elliot (2019)
Greatest Episode of Television Ever
Just wrote a review for the previous episode, which I thought was amazing, but then I went and watched this and it was even more spectacular and emotional. Ozymandias doesn't have anything on Hello, Elliot, which honestly is the greatest episode I've ever seen. When I watched 407 Proxy Authentication Required, I was enthralled the entire time, until the end when I completely bawled after the reveal for a good 10 minutes. But, in this episode, the insane reveal comes early in the episode, just as heartbreaking, and the episode is mostly what follows this shocking truth. So, I was actually probably crying for 40 minutes of this episode, emotional at every turn and unbelievable. This finale secured Mr. Robot as my all-time favorite series, and I don't know what will ever be able to top it.
Mr. Robot: whoami (2019)
Top 3 Episode of Mr. Robot
I don't know what I expected of this episode. Being the penultimate of the series, I knew it would be good, but this blew me away. The entire sequence took place in whatever fantasy world Elliot was in, and it was absolutely thrilling and emotional. In my opinion, this is either the 2nd or 3rd best episode, only behind 407 I think. I honestly think this episode should be more like a 9.8 rather than a 9.5, but either way it's amazing. So excited for the finale.
Stranger Things: Chapter Nine: The Piggyback (2022)
How is this only a 9.3?
I'm looking through reviews and seeing either "This is the best finale ever" or "it was good, but some issues". Tbh, the issues people have with this are so dumb, like "there weren't enough deaths". Maybe not, but I'm so glad Max survived because she's a great character and actor and character, and this episode was perfect. It was thrilling and intense the whole way, and by far the most emotional stranger things episode, and most emotional episode of tv I've seen in a long time. Not only is this a perfect episode, but it perfectly sets up the final season. The huge gate opening is making me think that next season is going to be absolute chaos, with the upside down and the regular world seeping together and all the upside-down monsters wreaking havoc on Hawkins and the world. So, maybe there weren't many deaths this season, but now we have all our favorite characters to make the next season an amazing one. (Except Eddie, that part was heartbreaking along with Max's part)
Overall, it was an amazing episode that perfectly sets up the last season.
Stranger Things: Chapter Eight: Papa (2022)
It's coming...
Really good episode before the season finale, which I'm looking forward to watch in five minutes. I won't spoil anything, but it's clearly building to something epic. There are some emotional moments, the cinematography is amazing, and all of these subplots we've been following are seeming to finally come together. Should be an epic finale to conclude what has been my personal favorite season of stranger things so far.
BoJack Horseman: The View from Halfway Down (2020)
Amazing
This might be the greatest tv episode I've ever watched. And Secretariat's poem was amazing, and emotional. The entire episode was so intriguing from the beginning and the ending was so good too.
Encanto (2021)
Stunning Animation, Great Songs and Emotional Story
Being a high budget Disney movie, of course the animation was amazing, but that's just the start of the movie. The music (Lin_Manuel Miranda) was really great, and each songs' lyrics contained so much story and depth as well as great instrumentals. I was also surprised by how deep and emotional the story was, considering it's about a magical family. Overall it was amazing, and I definitely recommend it.
Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
My all time favorite movie
This stunned me in every way, I had already known the soundtrack was amazing because I'd listened to it like every day for the past month, but seeing it onscreen was just so much better and I strongly recommend you check it out. And honestly, all the critiques about ben's age is kind of ridiculous, almost all movies about high schoolers have people his age- ever seen grease? Plus his voice is amazing and he nailed the role.
