The Bishop's Wife (1947)
One of the best movies ever made
This movie is a classic from start to finish. The story is superb, the writing is superb and the acting is outstanding. The story flows very well with quite a few comedic scenes and comments. Cary Grant as Dudley couldn't be better as are Loretta Young and David Niven and the supporting actors. One of our favorite movies which is our Christmas favorite. Wish they would make more movies like this. Minor complaint- the "baby" in the carriage looks like a straw doll. Didn't like Dudley getting too close to Julia but guess that had to be part of the movie. Liked the skating scenes and Sylvester is priceless in his role. Who did his wild skating scene? Stevens looks like he could play Abraham Lincoln. Cast overall perfect. The bishop/angel actor swap gets a negative here. Try to watch it with the roles reversed and it doesn't work for me.
La otra mirada (2018)
Outstanding storyline and acting
Really enjoyed the acting and storyline of this series. Think it presented a very good snapshot of the 1920s attitudes and biases.
The acting was outstanding which also reflected a great absorbing writing talent and direction.
I have recorded some of the episodes and will go back to look at them again.
Without giving spoilers the 13th episode was a roller coaster of emotions with spectacular acting.
Great ability to draw the viewer in. Great translation at bottom of screen though tried to follow with my high school Spanish.
Was very disappointed to find there isn't a second season yet but hope one comes along and is picked up by PBS.
