The Loch (2017)
5/10
A mess, a parody, or a travelogue?
20 October 2020
I watched this in May 2020, when my cable service offered a free week of Acorn. The original title of The Loch was changed for Americans, evidently, as Loch Ness would have more meaning. The appeal for me was the location, as I had visited Loch Ness in the spring of 2017. Indeed, the scenery was lovely. Nothing else seemed realistic. If there really is a village on the banks of the loch, one couldn't tell from this show, as the only exterior scenes were of very nice houses, which could be rich people's summer homes. Is there really a college on the edge of the lake? Several others here have detailed the problems of plot, all of which bothered me as I watched. One called it a "quietly humorous parody"-but was it an intentional parody or just so full of craziness and clichés that one cannot otherwise explain it?

Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000)
7/10
semi-memorable
20 October 2020
Watching Blue Murder for the first time this week, I keep thinking, Where do I know Caroline Quentin from? I recognized the name and face...but from where? Finally remembered to look her up here and Kiss Me Kate rang the bell. I did enjoy this show, but I needed the details in the two reviews here to bring it back to me. Perhaps I'll watch it again some day. Ms. Quentin is one of those actors who stick in your mind.
