Being one of the biggest fans of The grand tour, or better said Clarkson Hammond and May, I've watched both of James's shows, I have watched the grand tour literally 6 times beginning to end. My problem with the great escapists is the cast. James's shows work, because he'e alone. Jeremy's farming show will definitely work, because he's alone. You can take any of the three of them on their own, and it's truly great. You can take only two of them in a show and it's great. But you just can't add anyone else into the mix if you ask me.
What I do sincerely believe however, is that a show like The great escapists, with Hammond Clarkson and May would be the hit of the century, and could be as good or even better than The Grand Tour. Of course they could change the format slightly, make it slightly less staged looking.
The three of them have a dynamic between them that is unique to them, and once they retire there'll never be another group like them. Nobody can ever replace them ever, and I think that they just can't really work with other people. Either alone, or together but anyone from outside just doesn't work for me.
Having said that, the other guy that Hammond is with I'm sure is excellent in his own right, and a show with three other people that just aren't as iconic as hammond clarkson and may would still absolutely work.
