The Ghostbusters legacy continues.
31 March 2024
GHOSTBUSTERS 4....... That is how I see as I do not count that terrible so called reboot from 2016. Just like AFTERLIFE this movie continues with the legacy and continuity of the 84 and 89 movies as it should, and just like AFTERLIFE it doesnt slap the fans and lore in the face like the 2016 movie did and not only that both AFTERLIFE and FROZEN EMPIRE have not only women in it but also teenage kids, the difference between this and AFTERLIFE compared to the 2016 reboot......THEY ARE BETTER MOVIES THAN THE 2016 VERSION BY MILES.

Anyway I finally managed to watch GB4 in the cinema and I am glad I did, much like GB3:AFTERLIFE it brought me back to when I was kid watching the original two movies. Everything was in this movie....the nostalgia, the references, the enjoyment and entertainment that made me want to say........."Busting makes me feel good"

This is what I wanted from the franchise for years.....all tho the PS3/PS4 game came very very close to a true Ghostbusters 3 movie and reunion but I have to say I can accept both AFTERLIFE and Frozen Empire as good entries in the franchise, story and continuity to make me happy.

Bring on Ghostbusters 5.

So this is Gunns DCU? Meh
6 September 2023
Here we are the first movie in Gunns supposed Reboot and DCU and in fine fashion just like his The Suicide Squad Movie its flopping and sinking faster than the titanic.

I tried to give this movie a shot I really did but its terrible and generic to the point they even tried to play the ethnic card and it has completely fallen flat on its face.

On the good side atleast the special fx were an improvement.....atleast compared to the flash but come on the DC property since 2017 from its managment and choices has been low par.

The movies since 2017 Josstice League onwards have floundered and completely imploded, but hey thats what happens when a studio decided to listen to critics and haters and then started making the movies for those types of people, you get a mess, you get flops, you get mediocre, you get generic and pointless movies.

I have no interest in Gunns DCU because if its anything like this then it is over before its started, think I will download his movies because I sure aint going to pay to see them after how the studio treated the actors, directors and its fans for almost a decade.

James Gunn good luck with Superman Legacy because even that sounds like another retread of the flop Superman Returns 2006 all over again, gunn your going to very much and seriously need it.

Bond Out For Revenge
12 August 2023
1989 will always be remembered to me as the year major blockbusters Ghostbusters 2, Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, Batman and Licence To Kill came out in the cinema.

Unfortunately for me I was only old enough to see 3 of the movie listed and missed out on Licence To Kill, thankfully I was finally able to see it on TV and then video.

Licence To Kill is the 16th entry in the franchise and the last outing of Timothy Dalton as Bond, not long after this the writers strike hit and Daltons time as bond was over due to his contract ending and not being interested in reprising the role.

In the film James Bond (Timothy Dalton) is on a quest for revenge after his friend and recently married Felix Leiter (David Hedison) gets maimed and his wife killed by ruthless drug lord Franz Sanchez (Robert Davi). With the MI6 refusing to back him, Bond goes on his personal vendetta of revenge and destruction going rogue to infiltrate the international drug cartel and destroy it from the inside out in order to obtain his ultimate goal to kill its leader and boss......Sanchez.

Licence To Kill is easily in my top 5 of favorite bond movies along with Casino Royale, The Living Daylights, The Man With The Golden Gun and Live And Let Die.

Like The Living Daylights I really enjoy Dalton's take on the character. I very much enjoy the dark and grittier take in Licence To Kill, the fact that bond has his licence to kill revoked and MI6 not willing to back him in going after sanchez further makes me enjoy the movie more as bond now had nothing to lose and all out causes chaos destruction taking sanchez's organisation apart form from start to finish to get his revenge was just a massive blast and very satisfying.

That being said there hasn't been one year where I don't watch Timothy Dalton's bond films be it on TV or DVD.

One of my favorite bonds and movies
9 August 2023
As a kid up until 1987 I was already introduced to the world of James Bond thanks to my mum taping every single movie that has come out on tv from the Connery, Lazenby and Moore era's.

The Living Daylights is the 15th entry in the franchise and the debut of its 4th new Bond.....Timothy Dalton.

In the film James Bond (Timothy Dalton) is sent to help KGB officer Georgi Koskov (Jeroen Krabbé) defect during a symphony performance, investigate a KGB plot to kill all enemy spies and uncovers an arms deal that potentially has major global ramifications in which we see Bond cross several continents to confront and defeat an arms dealer Brad Whitaker (Joe Don Baker) who is conspiring with the Soviet general to start world war 3 for profit.

The Living Daylights is easily in my top 5 of favorite bond movies along with Casino Royale, Licence To Kill, The Man With The Golden Gun and Live And Let Die.

Dalton was contracted to make 3 movies as Bond with the third movie being the popular rumored Portrait Of A Lady, unfortunately due to the writers strike at the time his contract expired and he never considered playing bond again even when offered the role for Goldeneye which ultimately went to Pierce Brosnan.

As short as it was making only two movies Timothy Dalton ranks as the number one bond for me, I love his take and he adds a more serious edge to the character, you could say he brought what Daniel Craig brought to bond only way before its time, he doesnt come off as cheesy and doesn't ham it up like Moore or Brosnan either.

That being said there hasn't been one year where I don't watch Timothy Dalton's bond films be it on TV or DVD.

This Mission...IF you choose to accept it.
12 July 2023
I been a big fan of the franchise since 1996 when the first MI movie came out, had both M:I-1 and M:I-2 on VHS and up to M:I-6 Fallout have gotten each entry on DVD.

That being said Mission Impossible 7 has surpassed all my expectations, and without a doubt, this film deserves immense praise for its constant moments of awesomeness. This can be attributed to none other than the legendary Tom Cruise himself, his work ethic as an actor just brings excellence in everything he does and the high quality he demands when making a film. The action sequences in the movie are incredibly and have surpassed the action level from the previous movie. The stunts performed are executed fantastically as you would expect and have consistently upped the level in each entry. The dialogue is also well-written for most of the characters.

My only gripe is the main villain he comes across as a bit wooden and generic, now the entity and the organisation he works with behind him tho felt more interesting and since this is only Part 1 I am hoping in part 2 he is more fleshed out but apart from that M:I-7 Dead Reckoning Part 1 massive thumbs up.

A fitting end to the great archaeologist.
3 July 2023
Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny the 5th and Final movie adventure of the great archaeologist/treasure hunter.

Being a big fan of the movies and watching the first two on TV growing up in the 80s I was 10 years old when I saw my first Indy movie The Last Crusade in the cinema with my mother in the summer of 1989, so I found seeing another adventure by the man with the iconic fedora hat, whip and black jacket an absolute must for me as I really enjoy watching them, even Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull 15 years ago, here we are coming full circle on Indy's last adventure.

Now I am not one to listen to critics when it comes to films and never will, the only person I listen to is myself, did I enjoy the movie? Yes I did, in the end of the day its still an Indiana Jones movie.

Could it have ended better? Yes but that is my only gripe when it comes to this last installment in what is otherwise another great adventure.

The Flash (I) (2023)

Live Action Flashpoint
19 June 2023
It has FINALLY arrived, after waiting for 8 LONG years the live action movie The Flash has hit the screens.

I have to say as an adaptation to flashpoint I really enjoyed the movie, I enjoyed the cameo's when barry went through the speedforce, the movie is very much a love letter to DC fans or the Donnerverse, Burtonverse, Schumacherverse, Snyderverse and every live action comic book hero be it TV and Film for the past and present.

Set a year after the events of Zack Snyders Justice League Barry time travels to save his mother from being killed thus by saving her alters things. Its a story about loss, dealing with grief, acceptance and moving on for Barry.

Does it reset the DCEU? Not really. Does it lead into James Gunns DCU Universe? Not at all so I am not exactly sure what is going in that department other than its going to be its own universe.

Does it open the door to the multiverse? Yes 100% absolutely.

Fast X (2023)

Gone bonkers Since Fast 5 but I enjoy it.
24 May 2023
Who would have thought this franchise would have made it all the way to 10 movies and a spin off?.....I certainly didn't but here we are with Fast X - Part 1 with Part 2 and 3 also coming.

Now I have to be honest has the franchise gone over the top and crazy since Fast 5? Absolutely but I see them for what they are and that is popcorn action entertainment and fun and I enjoy them even tho they have gone all mission impossible/avengers now but hey there is only so much you can do in terms of racing to be the best and being the drift king of tokyo, so I can see why they jumped to the heist genre with 5,6 and 7 then to agency spies with driving skills with 8,9 and now 10.

Fact is this, as long as these movies continue making money then the studio are going to make more regardless of how some people feel about the franchise, there are people who DO like them and enjoy them and you are just going to have to deal with it.

The Death & Return Of Shazam
17 March 2023
Shazam: Fury Of The Gods sequel to the sleeper hit of 2019 Shazam.

The 12th installment to the DCEU I enjoyed the movie very much, for the budget it has the movie is very much larger in scale compared to the first and the action is also very much ramped up.

The movie does suffer from the generic villain battles unfortunately and cgi monster battles but they are still fun to watch.

I did enjoy seeing the daughters of atlas play there roles in the movie and Helen Mirren is always fun to watch as a villain. And I love seeing the Shazam family play there part also.

Both Shazam and Billy still act like two different people even tho they are meant to be the same person, Billy still acts reserved as a kid as apposed to when he is Shazam and then acts like the energizer bunny on full blast but I still enjoy seeing both actors play there roles even if they do act them differently.

No secret that the gleaming beautiful Gal Gadot shows up as Wonder Woman in the movie and even tho a small role and cameo is integral to the plot, but much like Henry Cavill's awesome and long over due but brief return as Superman in Black Adam I loved seeing her back even if it might be for the last time.

Overall I very much enjoyed the movie and will get on Blu-ray to add to my DCEU collection.

Scream VI (2023)

Scream 6: Ghostface Takes Manhatten
9 March 2023
And the franchise just keeps on giving and giving.

What started as a cult hit in 1996 is now a mega franchise over 25 years later.

Leaving the suburb of woodsboro and making its way all the way to the big city of new york. I remember when reading the synopsis of the movie and instantly what came to my mind was Friday The 13th part 8 Jason Takes Manhatten.....thankfully Scream 6 is nothing like that and there was no love boat either.

Minus Sidney Prescott the movie continues with its newest heroine Sam Carpenter and I have to say I very much enjoyed the movie, the typical formula of guessing who the killer is and suspects hasnt changed and like always the reveal is big, outlandish and entertaining.

Where does this rank in terms of favorite in the franchise? Well I have to say its better than 3 and 4 and borderline between 5 and 2.

Everything I used to love about wrestling in the 80's 90's 00's and with an attitude.
25 February 2023
I used to be a WWF/WCW fan since the 80's,90's and early 00's, once WWF rebranded to WWE in 2002 and went PG a shift in tone and quality it really started to put me off the product, no risk taking, the matches are not entertaining, they got lazy, there are no characters, no personality anymore, then 2011 I did what I thought I would never do and that was stop watching WWE.

For near a decade I didnt watch wrestling and had no intention of going back to it until AEW started up 2019 and brought back the old school and style of wrestling I used to enjoy especially the attitude in the 90's, there are characters that I enjoy cheering for and boo that I couldnt do in WWE, the crowd also and the atmosphere remind me of the old style of wrestling, they are vocal, passionate, they even bring signs to the shows which are banned in WWE, its a whole different atmosphere in AEW.

The camera work is better and they dont do any of the stupid shaking cam whenever a brawl happens or when a wrestler pulls off a move like some earthquake hits the building which WWE still do. The production quality is better and they dont over use the HD while WWE has full blown gone bonkers with 3D and lights ALL OVER THE PLACE including the ring like its some fair ground ride on LSD...its distracting and AEW doesnt do it thank god.

AEW is a massive alternative to WWE and it was seriously needed.

Its an ok movie but not as good as the first two.
16 February 2023
Looks like phase 5 is going to start off much like how phase 4 did...very poorly, which is a shame because I loved the first Ant-Man movie and the sequel, but this third outing feels like it took 3 different types of movies and stuck them together. I enjoyed the first act of the film, the 2nds act tho absolutely dipped in quality and performance and the 3rd and final act.....smh just went absolutely bat crazy and overdone with with CGI. I thought Aquaman's 3rd act was all over the place in what was going on but this was another level of "what the heck is going on".

I also notice they are trying to being the back the shaking cam combat....please dont, it was rubbish to watch then and still is now.

Personally I am not a fan of the third film, it started off strong but then like most the MCU films since phase 4 the quality just vanishes into its reliance on comedy which I am sorry to say is just past its time now.

Assassins (1995)
10/10
Underrated. Awesome Thriller
14 February 2023
I first watched Assassins for the first time in 1998 on sky movies and absolutely enjoyed it unfortunately I missed out on taping on my VHS but due to the movies showing on repeat I recorded it on my 2nd viewing.

About the film, made by the late great Richard Donner who brought fantastic movies like the Lethal Weapon series, Superman The Movie, Superman 2 Donner Cut. You know with Donner you are going to get character development, story and action.

So here you have an old lion meets young lion scenario in Stallone who's role as an about to be retired number 1 assassin and goes head to head with rising star Banderas (doing a complete 180 from his hero leading man in Desperado) as the bad guy and aspiring young gun trying to replace Stallone's character by any means as the number 1 hired gun in the world.

Not trying to take away from Stallone who plays off as pretty quiet than most of his roles at the time but Banderas absolutely steals the movie and whenever he is not on screen you cant wait for him to show up again because he is absolutely entertaining and fun to watch.

This movie is an absolute belter from start to finish. I even have it on DVD now and if I dont see a rerun of it on television or sky then I always grab it off the shelf and stick the disc in and press play.

Awesome film.

The Crow mixed with The Fast & The Furious
13 February 2023
What you have here is practically the crow movie but with fast cars, and that is not a bad thing at all. Classic revenge horro movie of a gang who killed a teenager who then comes back from the dead to right the wrongs of his death.

I was around 15 and never heard of this movie until it popped up on the sci-fi channel on sky and from that moment I was hooked and absolutely loved the movie.

The 80's soundtrack, the cars were awesome especially the Black Turbo Interceptor used to kill the gang in acts of revenge one by one.

The racing itself and cinematography was also well done. Its a classic 80's B Horror Action movie.

I have the VHS and the DVD, absolutely awesome film.

Wasnt ahead of its time, it was just LOST in time completely.
12 February 2023
The movie that crippled the batman franchise for near 10 years. This movie was ALL KINDS OF WRONG. From the tone to the costumes, from the castings to the bad story everything was wrong. Considered the worst and rightfully so in the 4 movie franchise at the time even with dashing George Clooney and mega stars Schwarzenegger, and oscar winner Uma Thurman (who would make you think she won nothing except for arousing) could not save this travesty of a movie. "Made specifically to sell toys" the actor Chris O'Donnell bluntly stated during the making of interview, even the actors themselves could not hide there disdain for the movie that they were starring in and the feeling is very much Globally mutual.

Who you gonna call? someone else.
12 February 2023
When news of a Ghostbusters movie hit in 2014 I was buzzing for it, finally a ghostbusters movie, finally a conclusion to GB 1 and 2 and a continuation with the old gang passing the torch to the new recruits. Oh how I was wrong, instead what we got was a slap in the face to the fandom, slap in the face to the mythology and a slap in the face to the movies that came before it. What was show was a complete reversal of what was expected and wanted which got rectified with the awesome and true sequel Ghostbusters Afterlife.

The fact that it had women has nothing to do with how bad this movie is....its just plain and simply a bad movie and rubbish storyline.

This movie deservedly thrown in the same category as Batman & Robin 1997 which nearly crippled a loved franchise, same can be said with this, the hate is justified.

Made for the haters and critics.
11 February 2023
Deservedly called JOSSTICE LEAGUE. This is what happens when the studios listens to critics and listens to the haters, this is what happens when the studio takes the death of a directors daughter and uses it as an excuse to let the original director go so they can bring another director to make a movie THEY want. What you have here is a mess of movie because of everything I stated above. The downfall of the DCEU all thanks to the haters, critics, and the bad management of WB headed by Toby Emmerich, Geoff Johns. Thankfully the TRUE, ACTUAL and REAL movie Zack Snyder's Justice League got released in 2021 and it was miles, leagues and 1000 times better than this pile of studio rubbish.

Superman II (1980)

Superman 2 By Richard Lester
7 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
That's right people Lester not Donner.

Much like Zack Snyder had his movie reshot and changed the same was done here with Donner who also got fired and let go before editing began had scenes reshot and changed, Gene Hackmen refused to come back to do the reshoots so all his scenes were from Donner.

Before Donner was let go he already shot near 77% of the movie, 49% by donner was used, The intro and ending was all changed and reshot and most scenes by Reeve and Kidder were reshot by Lester.

Thankfully the Donner Cut was released in 2006 and not only was it vastly different in introduction and resolution it wasnt fully finished as some effects.

Anyway Superman 2 by Lester as a whole was fun to watch for me as a kid, but it does show superman to be selfish believing he done enough helping the world that he could now turn his back on them to be happy himself, he not only does he professes his love to Lois but while superman and lois were making flambe and....well other things in the FOS gives up his powers for The POWER of LOOOOOVVVVEEEEE.

Zod and co are released from the phantom zone accidently and cause havoc on earth (Doesnt superman have tv on the FOS? Apparently not) anyway while he had his powers still when zod and co arrived on earth he clearly ignored all the screams of people from a local town, he was too busy having dinner and besotted by Lois apparently to hear ANYTHING, things eventually come to ahead in a showdown in metropolis once clark realises what a plonker he was and regains his powers after seeing a TV report by the president showing the arrival of ZOD at the white house and having his butt handed to him by a trucker (we will get to that later).

The BATTLE IN METROPOLIS

I can tell you at the time people thought this was a lot of destruction by superman and zod fighting through out the city.

Superman arrives and plainly asks zod "Would you care to step outside" changed from "Dont you believe in freedom of the press" in the donner cut the destruction starts as all 3 bad guys fly right through the daily planet to chase after Super Nonce.

After a brief kiss catch chase superman eventually gets taken out by Non by reverse dropkick through the street, not only does superman willingly punch NON from the sewer, through the street and into a couple of buildings with PEOPLE IN IT. Superman openly uses his heat vision to blast a thrown building block by zod, after back and forth between superman and the terrible 3 he briefly put out of commission by being sandwhiched between a bus and postal truck. Metropolis go all gangland style thinking they could take on 3 powerful beings (I dont know) get blown away literally. Superman recovers and flies away leaving the people of metropolis to fend for themselves with no idea where he was going or if he was coming back...nope he just flew off.

Claiming victory zod and co continue where they left off knowing superman gave up and fled. This is when things go strange out of pure luck lex decides to give up the location of the FOS to Zod to spare his own life, had this not happened Zod would have continued to rule the world while superman was making cellophane S.

After arriving at the FOS they all showdown again in a fight? Nope by playing playground games like peaka boo and laser tag with there hands apparently. In a for of trickery the same machine clark used to remove his powers he reversed on zod and co then proceeds to torture zod by crushing his hand then cripples him by throwing zod at a wall while plummeting to his death (So he had the choice to arrest him, no powers yet killed him anyway? And people thought superman killing zod in MOS was bad? Really? Smh)

With all 3 vanquished, lex in prison again, clark gives a mind spell so she forget everything including there romp at the FOS (So he raped her) the proceeds to go to the diner to get revenge on the trucker who beat him up by putting him in hospital but its ok he paid for damages and was "working out"......sure ok Super revenge.

And there we go, has problems but as a kid watching this it was fun, as an adult watching it there were so many problems.

Beauty, brains, brawn...Wonder Woman
26 November 2022
Was a fan of the wonder women series with Linda Carter so I have been waiting quite a long time for a movie adaptation for the Gleaming amazon warrior to arrive on the big screen. Makes her solo movie debut after gracing the screen in the epic BvS, Gal Gadot is a dream of beauty, bringing Wonder Woman to life in her first live action solo film for the DCEU. Set between BvS and leads directly into Zack Snyder Justice League 2021, it is also an origin movie and can be seen as the 1st chapter in the DCEU explaining how Diane came to be and her journey to modern day......Absolutely loved the film.

Terrible return made for critics and reeve fans.
26 November 2022
For waiting almost 20 years for a superman movie I was clearly disappointed by this. Was very boring, dull and slow set in a time that would have been a good sequel in the 80's but this is the 21st century and when you have your hero get beaten up by Kumar from white castle burger instead of zod or doomsday thats when you realise this is not the superman or movie you expected, its a movie made for critics, its a movie made for the people of the past who cant move on, its a movie made for christopher reeve fans, its a movie that flopped for good reason.................its a bad superman parody.

The man in black has brought the DCEU back from the brink.
21 October 2022
Absolutely loved it, even has hint of Zack Snyders aesthetic to it also similar to the awesome Man Of Steel 2013. The Rock has brought the man in black to life.

DCEU has been floundering since 2017 thanks to the old WB regime, first they sidelined superman and having him appear in a headless and shadowy cameo, then decided a 70 year old batman would be better to bring back. Thankfully due to the NEW owner Zaslav and NEW regime of WB Discovery that 4 year nightmare that began in 2017 ended and they are no longer listening to the haters anymore and have put thing right before the turmoil began.

The End of an Era and Saga
14 October 2022
Halloween Ends the 4th chapter and final movie in the saga of psycho killer Michael Myers and Femme Fetal Laurie Strode.

After watching the divisive Halloween Kills last year in 2021 which I enjoyed it, I was very much looking forward to seeing this final chapter. Set 4 years after the massacre of the last movie its does throw you a bit in the change of pace when you return back to Haddonfield for this movie but a few things are for sure......there are kills, there is a showdown and there is a definitive end to the journey for the characters.

Some will like it, some wont, some will rather have Halloween 2018 be the finale movie that goes hand in hand with the 1978 movie.

But me I have all 4 movies starting from 1978 to 2022 as one big story and I enjoyed it very much.

Its actually a pretty good pilot episode, but will see how the series goes.
19 August 2022
For a pilot I enjoyed it especially with the interactions with Mark Rufallo and his Hulk which makes me wish he too had a series much like Bill Bixby's Incredible Hulk.

That being said as a pilot episode it was pretty good but will see how it pans out as a series/ If it pans out like Wandavision, Loki, Falcon & Winter Soldier then its going to lose me as I couldnt stand those shows going up to episodes 3 and 4 regardless if the show got better later on, if you cant do that straight away and keep the momentum the see ya. If it plays out like Daredevil, Punisher, What If which I enjoyed and couldnt wait to watch the next episode then it will have me for the long run.

The review bombing is just sad especially if you havent seen the show or movie, I understand having a feeling about it and if it doesnt hit you right to want to see it then fine but dont lie on a review site if you havent seen it. If I dont feel right about a movie or show especially if I havent seen it yet I wouldnt waste my time on a hate review thats for sure.

If get the down votes for being honest then it just proves me right and clearly I annoyed you, deal with it :-)

Theatrical was terrible, but my near 2hr fan cut is miles better
8 August 2022
The fourth and final movie in the christopher reeve era as superman......and boy how the mighty have fallen, crashed and burned.

The theatrical cut was terrible, badly edited and the run time was also laughable for a movie with the stature of superman.

I did take it upon myself to make a fan cut of superman 4 as I believed somewhere out there with the 40min of deleted scenes included that there would be a better movie than what I saw as kid.....I was right, my fan edit compared to this atleast bring the rating to at least a respectable 6/10.

Absolute thrill ride and miles better than the first movie.
7 August 2022
I was 15 when this came out in 1995 and by then I was and still am a huge fan of MANGA, I have all Data's 1-12 of Guyver Bio Booster Armour Series on VHS and even have the whole series of the OVA Guyver series including Guyver: Out Of Control also on VHS, heck I even have Mutronics (The Guyver) in America which is the first movie.

Dark Hero is just absolutely fantastic, stars none other than solid snake himself David Hayter in his one and only lead role in a movie which is a shame because he had everything needed for a leading man but he chose to be behind the camera and produce instead of acting on the big screen, either way he brings out the best in his role in this movie.

The tone is very different to the first, its violent and dark the way the it should be, the costumes are fantastic the acting also isnt hammed up or comedic either like the first, its taken seriously as an action horror movie and thats what I love, hast been one day where I havent revisited watching this movie and is one of my personal favorites.

Best way to see this is the uncut version which is available on DVD.
