When Calls the Heart: Along Came a Spider (2024)
Along Came a Writer...
Along came a writer and sat down beside her (WCTH) and frightened the fans away.
I couldn't even finish this episode. Such sloppy, terrible writing.
Firstly, at the end of Season 10, Lucus only ran for Governor to save the town of Hope Valley, while Elizabeth encouraged him to do so. Basically, she tossed him to the wolves. The season ends with the entire town hailing Lucus as the hero of Hope Valley
Secondly, the character of Elizabeth not only has carried the show all these years, but it is the bones of the show. So why are we destroying her character and her goodness?
Thridly, Season 11 begins with one hero of Hope Valley, and it is not Lucas, but Nathan. What is he a hero for? The fans who make up "Team Nathan" may be swallowing this, but fans of the show (WCTH) are not swallowing this tripe, so now in episode 4, the writers are trying to balance the scale, by demeaning Lucas's character.
These writers have muddied the waters so much that you can't tell right from wrong and good from bad.
Elizabeth's behavior is shameless, and we never see the story line which should have followed such behavior. Where was the shock in the residents of Hope Valley? Where was the truthful common sense approach, which Rosemary usually displays? Where is the moment Elizabeth realizes that she has treated Lucus terribly, faces her students, their parents and her friends with honestly and remorse for her shameless behavior?
Are you kidding me...Henry was told by Elizabeth that hitting a man in the saloon was inappropriate behavior, and he should talk to her students and tell them so; but now it is acceptable to treat Lucas the way she has, without feeling any shame? Oh please give the writers their walking papers.
It feel like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Maybe we need to start calling it "The Hallmark Zone", where lives continue on in a distorted dimension.
Just for the record: I have never been team Nathan or team Lucas. I have only been Team WCTH. It is about the show...the story line ...the summation and completion of a well told tail. What a shame to see it dismembered.
I am so done, there is no way to fix this mess, and it has rendered the entire series as disingenuous.
When Calls the Heart: Starry Nights (2023)
So the real Elizabeth emerges
Carefully disguised under a veil of truth, goodness, sincerity, kindness, and integrity, Elizabeth emerges as the selfish, self centered diva that she was raised to be in Hamilton. Try as she may, she obviously can't escape the spoiled child within her. This turn in the story line has rendered the whole series as disingenuous.
We may never know for sure what inspired the creators of the show to go in this direction, but I feel that they did not think it though. I don't think they meant to ruin the show or disembowel Elizabeth's character, but unfortunately that is the reality.
If I were Nathan, I would lose all respect and love for Elizabeth, and not trust my heart to her. What a shame it is to see the show implode.
FYI: I care not how they wanted Elizabeth to find love again and with whom. I was never a "Team Lucus or Team Nathan. In reality, I didn't not think either of them was as good a fit as Jack. However, the writers helped you see though the story line, that this new direction for Elizabeth was through Lucus. It was a lovely change and new direction for her. So it is not so much about which direction they chose to take her love story, as it is that they destroyed Elizabeth's character. I highly suggest that people re-watch Seasons.7-10 again and take note of this fact.
One Christmas Eve (2014)
Instantly, a Classic
I read some of the negative reviews, and I guess some people just don't get comedy. You won't see any sex, nudity, bad language, or blood and gore, so if you prefer those types of moves, then don't watch this. However, if you like a "what else can go wrong on a holiday" type of movie with wit and charm, then this one is for you. Relax, and enjoy life turned upside down for 86 minutes, and you'll come away, feeling better about your own mishaps.
The cast was spot on, and Heche is wonderful at comedy. Who knew! This Christmas movie won't dissapoint, as mayhem leads they way to the true meaning of Christmas...love and sacrificial giving.
