I found this show on accident and fell in love instantly!
6 November 2023
I found this show on accident and fell in love instantly! I was looking for shows that were funny and lighthearted to get away from all of the "in your face" negativity in the media and TV shows that focus too much on dark material.

I instantly fell in love with this show and its characters -- reminding me A LOT of the old show "BEWITCHED" from the 1960's and 70's. It's sweet, funny, engaging and the characters are quirky, hilarious and relatable.

Great writing too. I watched a couple of the UK versions of the show, but I found them too slow and dull; whereas the U. S./Canadian version is fast paced and very witty, with more twists and turns to keep us on the edge of our seats.

Kudos to the writers for great writing -- as well as the show's historian for inserting so many things from the 1960's - 1990's that I had forgotten about, and to the cast for being able to pull off the outrageous story lines and bringing humanness to their characters. I can't wait for SEASON 3!!!

Not your FORMULA Style Novela...
1 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Eternamente Amandonos ("Eternally Loving One Another") is a complex and very well written NOVELA that deals with various modern issues faced in Mexican Culture: <> Overcoming old-school "classist" bigotry.

<> Overcoming old-school marital roles and "machismo." <> Spousal Abuse and how in this case, one partner's mental health and emotional trauma affects their relationship -- a very good example of how "Hurt People, Hurt People."

<> Drug usage and the importance of family support to succeed in rehab.

<> The fear of parents letting go of their adult children, especially in the often rigid social norms of Mexican "elites."

<> Sibling rivalries that are often a result of parents not treating their children equally; assigning unfare roles such as the "meek child," the "responsible one," etc.

<> The most important feature in this Novela is learning to put aside our egos, and learning to forgive one another, because we often don't know the backstory of something that we feel we're facing. Plus, lets face it: Life is hard, we need one another to overcome life's many challenges.

I give extra KUDOS to the production team for an excellent and very talented acting cast, great script and storyline and wonderful cinematography -- 50% of the novela is filmed outdoors which is rare.

Much better than I expected...
23 June 2022
Overall, I find this biopic to be better than I expected. Although the production team took many artistic liberties, I believe they captured Chente's overall "essence and spirit." For die-hard fans this series may be a let down, but it's difficult to portray a huge iconic singer accurately in paintings -- let alone on film. Chente wasn't just a voice -- he had a huge presence despite his small frsme. Of the 3 actors portraying him, Montero does a great job of capturing the singer's speaking style and swagger. But for me, the real star in this biopic is Chente's wife, Refugio (Cuquita). The woman was amazing and pretty badass; sacrificing her own wants, needs and desires to defer to her husband's success, and remain the pillar that holds the family together to this day. According to this adaptation, even her 3 sons appear to hold her on a higher pedestal than their father; who, despite making great efforts to project a moral high character to his public, had a serious addiction to women. In the end, this series presents us with a complex and multi-faceted portrayal of El Gran Chente. He may have had his faults but he had a heart of gold and a great love of Mexico and its people, especially those who like him, came from very humble beginnings.

Great UNCONVENTIONAL TeleNovela...
7 September 2021
This is a new and refreshing mini-series that tackles the outdated socio-economic, cultural and political mores that plague Mexico: The Chauvinistic/Toxic Machismo Culture, Elitism, Racism, Addiction, Alzheimers, Ageism, Social-Media Bullying, Draconian laws and Corruption. The cast is all top-notch. The writing and dialogue are real and profound and it has a lovely soundtrack that's not distracting and doesn't overpower the scenes, nor does it overwhelm the senses. I actually look forward to watching each upcoming episode.

Among The Worst TeleNovelas Produced...
7 September 2021
I am convinced it was written and produced by a handful of 5th grade girls. 👎

Una TeleNovela que parece ser escrita y producida por unas chavalitas del Quinto Grado. 👎
