You have to binge it

The animation is decent, the writing can be a bit iffy at times, but the overall plot is pretty great. The character development across the existing 4 seasons is fantastic, and almost every episode ends in a cliffhanger and makes you want to keep watching. At times I feel like it's more intense then Jurassic world, it's really well done. It adds mythos to the Jurassic park universe as well, and I wouldn't be surprised if it winds up tying in with Dominion here this year. With short 20 min episodes, and short seasons, it doesn't ever feel dragged out. So pop on Netflix and get watching!!

1/2 Batgirl movie, 1/2 The Killing Joke
3 February 2022
If you want a near shot for panel adaptation, skip to 31:03.

I understand what the we're trying to do, I understand why, but the execution just falls flat on that first half. In an attempt to fill time and provide a bit of emotion(?) I guess into one of the darkest Batman graphic novels ever made, it just falls flat.

It was a mistake to have a whole 30 mins dedicated to batgirl, and also how they did it, decisions she made, it really took the wind out of events later in the film in my opinion. It really puts a sour taste in your mouth. But then...

Yes, The Killing Joke actually starts!! At 31:03, a very near panel for shot adaptation begins! With just fantastic voice acting from Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy, it's truly a sight to see. It had been a while since I read the graphic novel, so I was surprised by some things that happened, and thought they added it in for the movie. Nope, reread it yesterday and it was faithful to the tee!

I wish they would've just released this as a 30 minute masterpiece instead of an hour ordeal.

I would highly suggest for any fan of the novel, or of dark, gritty Batman stories, to watch this from 31:03 on. If you have an extra 30 mins to waste, watch the whole thing.

Batman: Year One (2011 Video)

Visually stunning? Not quite, but A true adaptation!!

I've made it my goal to watch the animated Batman films in a somewhat chronological order, after I've read the comics. Because why not. And what a one to start on! I'll cut the chatter and lay it out for ya:

-Almost a panel for shot adaptation -Solid voice acting for Batman and Gordon -The story is solid and keeps you involved
  • The art style also is right there with the comic

My only gripe is the animation feels a bit stiff at times, but that's just Warner animation for ya.

All said and done, if you want to watch a solid animated Batman movie, this is the where to start! Despite occasional stiffness, it's true to the comic story, art style, and has some solid voice acting. Definitely watch it!

Is it groundbreaking? No. Does it fill in some gaps in the alien mythos? Absolutey

Seeing as how it's an add-on video, not it's own seperate movie, I feel like you can't expect much. But if you're looking for some answers as to how Covenant could lead to Alien, this provides a satisfying enough of a bridge that if we never get a third prequel to finish off the trilogy, you can still reasonably assume how we finally get to Alien. Again, it's not a visually stunning video, but story wise I feel like it's captivating enough to garner a watch.
