Vikram (2022)
BEGINNING OF AN ERA.
This movie is definitely the one to watch in theatres.
Watching Kamal Hassan after 4 years on big screen is just magical and the performance he delivered is even more mesmerizing.
At the age of 67 the fire he set on screen is just unbelievable.
Vijay sethupathi is as usual in his best.
Fahad Fazil runs the first half as he establishes story with engaging screenplay.
Soundtrack by Anirudh is by far one of his best albums he ever given.
Interval is just awe.
Suriya cameo is another cherry at the top.
And the very idea of Kamal Hassan, Suriya, Karthi sharing screen is just spine chilling.
This movie is not just a regular flick or Kamal Hassan comeback movie.
This is an origin story for the multiverse Lokesh Kanagaraj set in motion with a lot of potential.
Cross-over, sequels, prequels, spin-off are all set in motion with this movie.
As he develops the script he can add more superstars and more blockbuster films he can deliver with ease.
This film series can most probably become the future of Kollywood action movies.
Must must must watch in theatres.
K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022)
ROCKING STAR YASH ROCKS AGAIN!!!!!!!
Flamboyant style and mesmerizing writing, outstanding costumes of yash which made audience spellbound with his character in chapter 1 are on a whole new level in this one.
He got a antagonist who is on his level.
Adheera played by Sanjay Dutt is just majestic.
Raveena Tandon as Ramika Sen is too good.
Entire cast lived upto the role and more.
Yash penned down most of his dialogues which are on a whole new level.
Writing of the movie, DOP, Costumes, and most importantly Background Score puts this piece of the movie in the list of masterpieces india produced.
Mother sentiment worked well in this one too except not as frequent as chapter 1.
This movie has all traits of chapter 1 only difference is that they are enhanced, amplified and worked even better.
Action sequences are very wisely choreographed.
Overall this is definitely one to watch in theatres.
RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) (2022)
RAJAMOULI HITS BULLSEYE AGAIN!!!
Stellar performances from NTR. Jr and Ram Charan.
Rajamouli is synonym for perfect filmmaking with absolute precision so lovingly called as 'jakkanna'.
This movie has all typical mouli signature mark moves.
Outstanding performances from cast.
Jaw dropping action sequences.
Top notch visual effects.
Keeravani blend of class and mass mixed with melodious and emotional touch music worked very well just like all Rajamouli movies does.
He absolutely brings best in every cast and crew he works with.
He knows how to convey emotional scenes on screen in a way that hits right chords of audience.
Interval scene is more powerful than any other scenes from movie.
But this movie just falls short of one thing.
After completing every Rajamouli movie we are left with a satisfactory feeling while we leave screen.
But after completing this movie there is a vaccum left in audience.
It maybe because climax is not as powerful as interval or too much emphasis on either of one protagonist or anything that makes us feel there's something that leaves us thinking that something should be done other way around.
Except that this movie is like any other Rajamouli movies a masterpiece.
Radhe Shyam (2022)
VISUAL FEAST WITH VERY LITTLE HEART.
Any love story should hit the heart first and eyes later.
This movie is other way around.
Keeping aside the jaw dropping visuals at some places this movie has very little to offer.
Chemistry between the cast is not upto the mark on which a romantic flick runs.
Writting is very lazy and music doesn't hit you the way it has to which is another backdrop for a romantic flick.
Costumes were brilliant.
Star studded cast who were used to their minimal capability.
Keeping aside the fact that filmmaker Radha Krishna has worked on the script and palmistry for more than 6 years that doesn't reflect on the screen.
The boat capsizing at end of the film was poor depiction of Titanic where they tried to recreate it.
Summing it up this movie is not something we expect to see nor is this the one that makes you regret if you don't watch it.
Die Hard (1988)
YIPPEE KI YAY......
No one in entire Hollywood can pull this die hard cop flick better than Bruce Willis.
He literally defined what a die hard cop is.
With his tiger eyes and sharp sarcasm and his grumbling about situation he is trapped is just iconic and defined how a cop action movie can be pulled off with equal comic sense and nail biting action sequences.
He provides bigger than live commentary being trapped in a building with full of professional world class criminals headed by Alan Rickman and he too nailed the role.
This movie defined how cop action flicks should be executed for next few decades.
All movies are great in this franchise but this is probably the best in entire franchise.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
SOLID WEAPON IN MCU ARSENAL
Lot of MCU movies are visual feast but this movie is just on whole another level.
They explored and mastered almost every aspect of superhero trait only thing they left was Kung-Fu this movie fills that void with added Asian tinge.
Lot of credit to casting director.
With so many speculations on post credit scene this character can be used in any mainstream MCU movie.
It has everything MCU movie has comedy, breathtaking action sequences, music, screenplay, that father element.
This movie also has that one thing which majority of MCU movies lack like a good storyline.
Definitely End Game isn't end of MCU.
No Time to Die (2021)
DECENT WAY TO GO.
Keeping bond stuff aside this movie is fairly good action flick.
Daniel Craig is a good BOND but he got mediocre scripts in past two outings.
But this being his last one as 007 is a good tribute paid to his cameo in this big franchise.
Every James Bond element with a pinch of sharp sense of humour.
Too little of Rami Malek and Christopher waltz.
DOP, Action, Music will all do just fine.
If you are Bond fan enough you will find this near 3 hour flick fairly entertaining.
If you aren't just hang in there it's still a pretty decent action movie.
Free Guy (2021)
GUY WANTS TO BE FREE
Ryan Reynolds iconic comic timing is getting better with every film he's making.
He's like Jim Carey without overacting.
He's got everything in perfect proportion and his voice makes the most of it.
Every gamer can relate with this movie.
Making NPC as artificial intelligence being is a good plot and it being mixed with "inoperable"
Taika waititi english is great.
He's making an actor out of himself.
Pretty decent comedy with every Ryan Reynolds element.
Don't Breathe 2 (2021)
THE KID, THE DOG, THE OLD MAN.
There are a lot of things that changed from first movie to this one.
Stephen Lang love towards dog is overwhelming.
He became theist from atheist.
Became a father who's trying to be hard yet soft.
Definitely not scarier than first one.
It's mediocre even for a regular film.
His age which is one of driving element in first part is his dragging element now.
They kept him alive at the end I don't know what they are planning to do next.
This is decent one to end the franchise.
If there is another outing it'll be bad.
No country for old men.
Jai Bhim (2021)
SENSATIONAL SURIYA.
It's been years Kollywood is exploring and producing masterpieces based on caste discrimination.
Yet after all these years they are finding a new way to do it with equal artistic brilliance.
It's hard to keep something up for so long without disappointing.
All actors are too good.
In these kind of movies we need a protagonist who is not too dominating yet he should look impactful.
Suriya exactly fills that void.
It's like he's made for these kind of roles.
He acts as that piece which keeps everything together.
It's based on a true story that happened in 1993 yet it connects recent custodial deaths in tamilnadu.
Kollywood mastered the art of representing controversial and sensitive issues with utmost cinematic experience.
Everything is soo good in movie writing, music, DOP, screenplay.
One of the fewest quality courtroom dramas India produced.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins (2021)
GIVES YOU SOAR EYES.
With all due respect Henry Golding is a great actor but he's got no fighting face.
Action lacks intensity.
Boring plot and outdated film making.
You roped in Iko Uwais for this??
Seriously are you kidding??
After watching this it makes G. I. Joe series even unwatchable.
Ninjas,Guns,Swords we've seen it all except in a good way.
F9 (2021)
THAT'S IT. I'M DONE.
I am one of the hardcore fan of fast and furious series since tokyo drift.
I even liked fate of furious.
But this movie is too bad even for mediocre action movie.
Action - unwatchable.
Plot - unbearable.
Comedy - irritable.
Family - Better be separable.
If it wasn't for these elements this franchise wouldn't have garnered too much popularity in the first place and this movie is just a bad bet.
Dom's superhuman strength is adorable and pitiful.
Everyone dies and no one dies.
We have magneto too.
It's like X-Men in cars.
As a genuine Paul Walker fan please don't use Brian name anymore.
Star studded yet so little with so much.
It was good until they went to space.
Probably the end of fast saga.
I'm afraid not what fans expected.
Sarpatta Parambarai (2021)
PA.RANJITH SET EVERYTHING ON FIRE.
After watching trailer I thought why Pa. Ranjith chose arya he should have gone for someone else.
But after watching movie it's clear that Arya owned the movie.
His performance is beyond expectation.
Not just him entire cast is just fabulous.
Santosh Narayanan is at his best as expected when he gives music for Pa. Ranjith films.
DOP is so fresh it's a sight for sore eyes.
Writing is perfect.
Pa. Ranjith as usual exploited the aspect of class struggle and represented it in much more artistic way than he did with his earlier movies.
Watch out for kabalin and dancing rose bout it's most stylish representation of kick boxing ever.
Captured the soul of what boxing is "it's not about victory it's about keeping up the fight"
Arya is everywhere he is relentless throughout and desperate.
Arguably one of the best sports drama Indian industry has produced.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
DC IS FINALLY GETTING IT.
Margot Robbie is the very life of suicide squad.
But this movie has many lives imbedded into it.
The change of squad is exactly what the suicide squad needed and it worked out so well in this.
Thank God they killed Captain Boomerang.
It's always funny when bad guys get to make jokes.
Cena and Elba bromance is just feast for the eyes.
DOP is soo UHD and one can only appreciate it in good screen.
John Murphy vintage soundtracks are just as lively as Gunn's pictorial representation.
The creation of starfish in the end may seem a bit silly but the way he did it and the colours he chose is just pure bliss to watch on big screen.
One can see Cena dance.
Ends with rats in the city.
Worthyto wait for a sequel.
Finally something worth watching in theatres lately.
Don't miss it in theatres for OTT's.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
ROCKS...PANTS...PETALS.
Emily Blunt is just pure fun to watch.
Great performances all round.
Disney has money and ROCK has popularity so this movie is the outcome.
Decent comedy.
Doesn't matter how good the visual effects are and how decent comedy is and how great stunts are there is a drawback watching Dwayne Johnson in an adventure comedy movie that is at the end all movies feel the same way.
You really can't tell the difference between any of Dwayne Johnson fantasy adventures.
They all feel the same and it's getting a bit old.
It's a fun ride.
Don't know how long Rock can keep this up.
Friends (1994)
COULD THEY BE ANYMORE FUNNY??
It's not easy to maintain something this funny for 10 years without disappointing.
They made it look too easy but it isn't as easy as it looks.
6 characters and their relationship extending for 236 funny, crazy and emotional episodes and delivering such good hearted comedy is iconic.
Everyone loves the environment and by the end of all seasons we'll have a mental map of all houses and places they hang out.
That's more than just a connection.
Casting is just brilliant.
No review is complete without characters,
PHOEBE BUFFAY- The crazy one.
MONICA GELLER- Competitive, clean freak.
RACHEL GREEN- Dramatic and cute one.
ROSS GELLER- The smart one.
CHANDLER BING- The funny one.
JOEY TRIBBIANI- The sexy one.
Everyone portrayed so well that some people still remember them with their screen names.
Guide to Sit-coms.
Outstanding impact made by characters on viewers.
Watch out for cameos they are too good.
A fun ride overall.
12 Angry Men (1957)
NOT GUILTY.
I've watched this movie 64 years after it came and it's absolutely stunning how gripping, engaging drama it showcases even today.
Just 12 guys in a room with a single guy having reasonable doubt about crime and how he turns rest of the jurors with absolute logic and observation skills is sheer brilliance.
The success of these type of movies lies in connection they make and impact they create with characters, in this particular movie even with a room and a fan.
We can visualise the entire crime scene with just their arguments and counter arguments.
Successful drama essence lies in making us feel we were there.
This movie has done a extraordinary job.
All characters are equally important they are like moods of a single person.
Arguably one of the iconic courtroom drama ever made without actually a court room.
Writing is top notch.
One of the best classic drama that lies in one's mind for a long time.
One must not miss it.
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021)
THAT MOUTH NEEDS EXORCISM
Well lot of people say it's not good as first one.
Yeah it maybe but this movie is no less fun.
It's great with all the A-Cast and performances.
It's action comedy why would someone expect extraordinary plot.
This type of movies doesn't need any plot.
Pure fun and decent action sequences.
Well in first part Samuel Jackson dominated Ryan Reynolds iconic comic voice with his F words.
But in this movie Salma Hayek dominated even Samuel Jackson with her charm.
She is pure exotic and violent.
It's no less to say that it's her show entirely from first to last.
So don't think just enjoy.
Ryan Reynolds voice.
Typical Samuel Jackson.
Salma Hayek's grace.
It may not be as good as first one but it's no less than a decent action comedy flick.
Black Widow (2021)
WONDER WOMAN OF MCU.
Regular Marvel movie without the soul as we feel we are watching left offs even though she is one of main avenger.
It has all the traits of typical MCU movie.
It got decent action choreography, comedy, DOP, hyped end credits scene but everything is just falling little short.
I was soo excited to watch Scarlett again but it is not what we expect.
Her role even though it's already garnered enough fan base in all Avengers movies but this movie makes us feel like Black Widow has no depth in her character.
At the end of the day essence of the Marvel movie is saved and the franchise lives on.
A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
GETS YOU IN THE END.
A quiet place does have one new element we haven't seen in other Hollywood movies..... Quietness.
This gives us a whole new experience and changes each and every aspect of regular alien invasion or dystopian movies.
Emily Blunt brings all the calm and seriousness this movie required so does the rest of the cast.
Befitting and worthy sequel which is a must watch.
Everything seems so natural with perfect editing and no non sensical screenplay.
Finally something worth watching in theatres after so long.
The Boss Baby: Family Business (2021)
DEFINITELY NOT OUR BUSINESS.
There were days even animation movies appealed to adults and there are some classics which we still sit back and enjoy.
I still don't understand what's wrong with animation stuff nowadays.
They are seriously trying to reserve animation movies to kids.
Well this is a decent attempt and they succeeded.
It's already too much to ask if anyone says watch it once.
The Dark Knight (2008)
WHY SO PERFECTION NOLAN??
Getting obsessed with Nolan filmography is just like gravity all it needs is a little push.
This movie is definitely that push.
I could just type every dialogue of Heath Ledger it would make a great review because no matter how good you describe this movie there is always better way to do it.
Everyone are soo perfect.
Ledger set the bar with his performance and rest of the cast just follow him.
Film Score, writing, DOP, Direction, costumes no stone unturned to perfection.
This movie is definitely moon among stars in comic movies.
Natsamrat (2016)
TO BE OR NOT TO BE
This is a straight marathi movie which remained highest grossed movie until Sairat breaked the record.
I watched it with english subtitles and the poetry of the movie baffled me.
I just can't imagine how marathi people enjoyed it.
It belongs to the category of movie which we'll regret for not knowing the language.
Nana Patekar was already a well established actor when this movie came out but this single performance of him stands tall when compared to all other roles in his career.
Manjrekar even though he adopted movie from play by same name he nailed the movie by bringing out best in every actor and succeeded.
Nana Patekar makes sure that no one gets attention in this movie other than him.
And poetry OMG!!!!!!
Few lines in this movie are better than whole generation of movies on same concept.
Pain and precise poetry.
Life of an artist is always throttling between personal and professional life where they can't differentiate to what extent they have to value eachother.
One thing rose them to prominence and family came after he made name for himself.
It makes perfect sense to value art more over personal life.
But it comes at a cost where actor has to burn inside out throughout his life.
This movie has philosophy of life.
Amazingly executed.
One shouldn't miss a masterpiece like this one.
Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020)
RISK HAIN AUR ISHQ BHI
Indian industry has produced many great series but none matched the naturality of this show.
This show makes us feel like it was never shot it feels like they have shot while the events actually happening.
No wonder it's the only show from india which placed in world's list of top rated TV shows.
It's about dream of middle class man who dreamed something bigger than and in order to achieve it stirred hornets nest.
How a single man toppled country and entire banking system of a country changed because of one person.
Watch out for opening credits with animation story telling it has essence of life and series in 90 second span.
One shouldn't miss this one.
Something to remember forever.
Phenomenal cast everyone did their role like they were born to do it.
Must watch.
Karnan (2021)
ROAD TO REVOLUTION IS WITH BLOOD.
Dhanush is phenomenal as usual with his fiery performance and Mari Selvaraj direction is biggest take-away from the movie along with Santosh Narayanan score is mind boggling.
There are many industries in india but none exploits and represents the problems of caste and social stigma like Kollywood does.
They've been doing it for so long and with such uniqueness and they still suprise us with movies like these.
They mastered the artistic way of representing how upper caste exploits lower ones.
How people who possess power execute their shoes of tyranny in the face of helpless, ignoring even their dignity of being humans.
All they need is a hope, an ideal to strive for.
It comes in many ways but in this case it comes in the shape of aggressive youth who has dreams and the society doesn't even have place for it.
Filmmaker used animals in such a way that they represent exact emotions according to the situations.
Animals when they cornered and left no choice they'll fight for their life.
Man is a social animal for times immemorial and when society pushes you for so long that only way to achieve freedom is through sword.
When poor people are rejected even basic amenities which everyone is qualified to get all they can do is follow behind an ideology.
This movie is not about communism it's about socialism and it was represented with artistic brilliance.
It's about what we created and where it is taking us.
This movie is full of unseen revolution imbedded in every frame and comes out whenever it's required.
Big kudos to the entire team.
Another jewel in Dhanush career.
