Wolf Hound (2022)
Hard work , slow at times.
Good for the aerial scenes. Acting unbelievebly poor. Stereo typed Germans from a bad 80's film. A long boring section in the middle that could have been edited down. Not the worst film I have ever seen. For most part had it on in the background whilst I was doing other things, until it got interesting again in last twenty five minutes or so.
The story had good potential but let down by really hammy acting. The aerial sequences were good considering that no CGI was used for the main scenes. Did feel that some of the aircraft performance was extremely exaggerated, especially the Hurricane taking down the Mustang P51.
Vendetta (2022)
Why the poor reviews, what do you want.
Don't bother with many reviews these days as not sure what people expect. Perfectly good film. Not the best, not the worse. Kept me entertained right through. Normally give a film 20 minutes to keep me or lose me. Watched this till the dnd.
Stay Close (2021)
Twists and turns and totally compelling.
Binge watched this. Totally caught up for best part of 8 hours. Lots of twists and turns. Can only suspect poor reviews submitted by people of lower intellect or with short attention span. Glad I watched it for myself and ignored the poor reviews.
Professor T: The Anatomy of a Memory (2021)
A new intelligent super sleuth.
Morse, House and the Good Doctor combined to make a distant but compelling character come to life. Hoping this will carry on as good as the first episode.
Redemption Day (2021)
Yawnfest
I try to ignore bad reviews, and prefer to watch and make my mind up. 20 minutes in after aimless walking about and boring vocal interaction , I gave up. The acting is poor and wooden from the point I turned off and deleted from Sky box.
10.0 Earthquake (2014)
Incredibly bad
Don't often comment, but this film is bad, shocking and amazed it got green lighted. A lot of previous disaster movie situations arise with laughable outcomes.Shame because the premise of the film is sound.
Torchwood: Miracle Day: The New World (2011)
Better at second viewing
Caught up with Torchwood as a binge watch during second COVID lockdown. As on original view back at first transmission thoroughly enjoyed season 1-3 but sceptical about season 4. However with time, although very long storyline in comparison with previous series, I found it much better on second viewing, with some scary comparisons to the worlds current situation.Would love it to be renewed, but not hopeful.
On the Buses: Hot Water (1973)
Missed the bus
Forced humour, lost its magic without Stan and Arthur. Should have ended at end of series 6.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
I was so looking forward to this.
Finally got to watch this and was thoroughly disappointed. Film was actually very dark so at times difficult to see anything. Did not engage with me at all.Wrote this review waiting for it to end. Most of the other Terminator films I've watched over and over. This one, once is enough.
Avenue 5 (2020)
Expected a British Orville
Shocked Hugh Laurie and the other well known stars have lowered themselves to this. Couldn't be bothered after 15 minutes and deleted series link.
The War of the Worlds (2019)
Not faithful to original story
Started off with promise in episode one and two, but episode three was just dreadful. Not at all faithful to original story. I will be watching out for this writer, to ensure I avoid his future work.
Robin Hood (2018)
Good take on an old theme
Enjoyed this film. Not an epic but good escapism. I am Nottingham born and bred. Know the Robin Hood legend inside out and I liked this take on the old story. For the sake of all the low reviews I am kicking back with a solid 10!
Secret Obsession (2019)
Not so bad
Thought previous reviews very harsh. Too many people's far to critical. Story was good. Twists and turns. Does not deserve the poor reviews. Or is it jus Netflix snobbery.
Lancaster Skies (2019)
Better than sleeping tablets
Really wanted to enjoy this movie, but it sent me off to sleep after ten minutes. Will give it another chance but not expecting much from what I can remember.
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
Not a classic
The original Mary Poppins was the first film I was taken to the cinema to see in 1964 or 65. Memory a bit hazy . I have subsequently seen and enjoyed this classic on many occasions with my children and grandchildren. I watched or rather endured this current version once, and once is more than enough. Tedious , unmemorable and totally forgettable. This could have had so much potential but didn't. Best part for me was when Dick Van Dyke appeared.
Holmes & Watson (2018)
What an insult
Gave it 10 minutes. Worst movie I have watched in a long time
The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot (2018)
Bit of a slog to get through
This movie had so much potential. Couple of good things but rest pretty tedious. Stuck with it to the end, and instantly forgettable.
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
I liked it
Not sure why so many bad review. I have watched Star Trek and all its offshoot series and movies. Never got into DS9 or Discovery, but aside from that give this movie the thumbs up,and I am hard to please
The Happytime Murders (2018)
Average buddy cops with a puppet
It was ok. Standard buddy cops story with a twist. Doesn't deserve the hate on here.
Johnny English Strikes Again (2018)
A sequel that did'nt require to be made.
I count myself as a huge Rowan Atkinson fan, and like most but not all of his material. This film falls into the latter category. Atkinson and Miller give a good performance but the rest of the film did not work for me, and I was just waiting for it too end. The original is still the best .
