Sorted (2000)
Double Nostalgia
Sorted gives you the vibe of life in London during the late 90s with the texture of a British 60s film. Oscar winner director, Alex Jovy facilitates exceptional performances from the legendary Tim Curry as the perfect villain, Jason Dovovan shines in his most interesting performance and Idris Elba is perfectly cast as a thug. The entire supporting cast are very good too. Virtual newcomers at the time Matthew Rhys and Sienna Guillory performances make you want to root for them as a couple in this love story, action thriller, murder mystery. Watching Sorted in 2024 is very entertaining and and the clubbing soundtrack makes even more enjoyable. It is cult classic.
All of Us Strangers (2023)
Forgettable and Pointless
If you enjoy watching forgettable movies this plotless, pointless movie is for you. Award winning Paul Mescal plays an uninspiring junkie, gay ghost. (Acting drunk isn't a stretch, every teenager is able to do it). The gayness is so trope. In the world of Andrew Haigh all gay men only listen to Erasure, The Pet Shop Boys and Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Haigh couldn't decide if his miserable story was set during lockdown or not and he definitely didn't know how to end this tragedy. The storyline seems to be extremely self indulgent and obviously heavily influenced by M. Night Shyamalan's The Sixth Sense and some gay porn.
Inventing Anna (2022)
Whining Vivian
Who's bright idea was it to create awful fiction from a real life event? "Whining Vivian" would have been an more appropriate title for this drawn out, 9 episode fabrication. As it more about a poor, made up journalist who is fighting to get her story published, fighting all her mean male bosses on the way. So cliché. Shonda Rhimes had an opportunity to make something edgy and real but it is clearly obvious she is limited to only writing and producing soap operas.
Don't Look Up (2021)
All the star power in the world could not save this disaster of a movie.
This film was TOO much. Too much satire, too much political & social commentary, trying too hard to be funny and failing. Too many A list actors doing their worst acting. It felt like a 2 1/2 hour awful SNL skit. I love you Adam McKay but this was a stinker. Too bad.
È stata la mano di Dio (2021)
A very uninspiring biopic
The only good thing about this film is Luisa Ranieri. I don't understand why Paolo Sorrentino thought his awkward and at times extremely disturbing teenage years would be interesting to document. The film disjointly pieces together insignificant moments of an uninspiring existence. It's pretentious, self indulgent and painful to watch.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Tarratino needs to stop making movies
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood a washed up director chose to re-write history by beating up women, racially belittling an Asian legendary figure and padding a plot less film with actors driving around listening to music. Tarratino needs to stop making movies.
