Jesus Revolution (2023)
Beautifully shot and beautiful story
My only complaint about this movie is that it wasn't long enough. The melding of the true life stories of Chuck Smith, Lonnie Frisbee and Greg Laurie were truly God-ordained, albeit, imperfect, and changed thousands of lives. The film wasn't afraid to dive into the grittiness of those who were seeking something beyond sex, drugs and rock and roll. We are quick to say that kids today have a lot to deal with. But you see in this film that life in the 60s and 70s was just as tough, it just wasn't blasted on social media and the news 24/7. It's no wonder that Gen-Xers, became helicopter parents, as we tried to spare our kids from the deadly habits we were exposed to. Several of the scenes remind me of how amazing it is that so many of us made it out of those decades alive.
In terms of visuals, the costuming, props, and set pieces were spot-on and brought me back in time, as I was a toddler during those specific years. The cinematography was absolutely gorgeous. The Pacific coastline, the tent scene and Pirate's Cove baptisms scene were beautifully shot. I'm a huge fan of Akis Konstantakopolis, the DP.
The acting was superb. Kelsey Grammer as Chuck, Jonathan Roumie as Lonnie, Joel Courtney as Greg, Anna Grace Barlow as Cathe gave amazing, believable performances.
This is a beautiful period piece, based on true events with a lot of humor and tons of heart.
The Chosen: Clean, Part 2 (2023)
Best episode yet!
I don't even know how it's possible, but this is the BEST EPISODE YET! From the intense opening scene to that very last pull back shot and everything in between, I was continually on the edge of my seat. The acting of the regulars and the newcomers is phenomenal. The way they emote without saying a word brings the characters of the Bible to life as I've never seen before. When they do speak, their ability to maintain an accent while bringing so much depth to their characters never ceases to amaze. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the cast and crew for bringing this amazing portrayal of the Greatest Story Ever Told.
Church People (2021)
Great movie with humor and heart!
I like being supportive of faith-based films and I love a good comedy, and Church People is both! Making the Gospel the main thing is important whether you're a small church or a mega church and bringing that message with humor makes it all the more memorable.
What If... (2010)
Very sweet
Great acting! It was a very sweet movie that had me crying at the end. I love that it was filmed in Manistee and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Chosen (2017)
A Jesus who laughs, cries and hugs!
See Jesus through the eyes of those who followed Him. If you've ever wondered why people would drop everything and follow Jesus, watch this! Everything about this show is incredible and I can't wait for Season 2.
Selfie Dad (2020)
Great family film!
Michael Jr was great as a husband and father trying to do right by his family. It was funny and charming!
