what's up with the kungfu fighting
10 January 2021
It started off well but the second half was slowly going downhill. All the martial art fighting was unnecessary and just plain stupid. Also, hey overstretched the special effects in the second half! All for scenes that are unnecessary and would've been stupid even if the special effects would've been top-notch. If you don't have the budget just concentrate on character development.

annoying delay in dialogue
13 December 2020
Someone says something (pause of 5 seconds) answer (pause of 5 seconds) question (pause of 5 seconds) andswe.... and it goes on and on and on. You can do this a few times to create some sort of a suspense or whatever. If you do it constantly it's really, really annoying. If some editor would just cut all these pauses it would instantly be way better. Maybe it would even be good! shame.

Warning: Spoilers
Beats me why I'm still giving this show 3 stars!? Nostalgia I guess, Since the first 3 Star Wars movies it's been downhill ever since. This show isn't any different. I guess Star Wars is cursed or something and probably will never get a decent sequel whether it's a movie or series! Shame...

Warning: Spoilers
I didn't watch season 2, 3, 4 and 5. I gave up after 4 episodes in season 1. Easily one of the worst series out their and definetely the most overhyped ever. Hello everyone? It was terrible from the very beginning!

the script is all over the place and eventually goes nowhere
10 May 2020
They should've just kept it real but instead they go overboard and they lose the plot. Shame, everything was there to make a great movie except a decent, coherent script.

Less is more.
9 May 2020
What made the first 3 Star Wars movies great? The universe felt like the universe should feel: big and quasi-infinite. Luke Skywalker felt trapped on his Home Planet and would give anything to leave and go and explore. This universe feels small, connected as if any world is just around the corner. If you take away the magic of the universe, you take away the magic of Star Wars. A lot can be said about the casting. In any case, It's just hard to connect with any of the lead characters. I felt along with Luke Skywalker and Han Solo wasn't this guy instantly convinced of the cause of the rebellions. Unfortunately I couldn't care less about Finn, Rey,... Storywise, they tried to put some jokes in the movie but unfortunately, it just didn't work. There's no magic, no adventure. It's just all too much. In the good old days, one death star was the ultimate menace. Now they need to destroy thousands of them!? No, less is more.

second season not up to par
5 May 2020
The first season was just perfect. A well deserved 10/10. Best zombie series ever. However, from the start the second season was in a free fall. It just wasn't of the same quality as season 1. So unfortunately, the makers were not able to keep up the quality. Shame. It's still the best zombie series ever but, let's be honest, there's not much competition in that department. No the walking "Slow" didn't do it for me. So yeah still the best.

that's a movie

An entertaining, smart, funny movie. Well directed, great acting, good production. Another dozen of these in the same year and the French have once again a film industry! One thing's for sure Nicolas Bedos is one talented guy.

Telenovela Hernán
29 April 2020
One star for the Mexicans and three others for the fact they speak Spanish, Maya and Nahuatl. Sadly, that's as generous I can be. Who in heaven's sake starts a conquest this epic in the Aztec capital Tenochtitlan?! If there's one thing you can build up to! As entering the capital should be more like the season's final. It soon became clear why they thought they could begin the story in the capital: Flashbacks. Someone seemed to think it would be a very clever idea to use lots of flashbacks. However, these flashbacks bring nothing to the table but are just a way to masquerade the fact that they have no clue how to tell a story. If they can't use flashbacks properly they should just shoot the story in chronological order. About 9 minutes in they commit the capital error nr 1 in filmmaking: "Don't say it, show it". When one of the conquistadors starts whining about some vision he had blablabla. Again it didn't bring anything to the table, it was rather annoying and as I can't stress enough it broke a capital rule in filmmaking. But I guess same with the flashbacks someone thought it would be a great idea to have a character in the story who has a vision of some sort. Nope. It's the main problem with this series: the script. More specifically the poor quality of it. There's just nothing - not one line of dialogue or storyline - that is salvageable if you would start afresh, say if for example you had more budget and you had a second chance to redeem yourself. Actually, they showed so much in just the first episode that they practically told all the different aspects of the real story, the conquest that is. They showed so much I wonder (as I only saw the first episode) what the hell are they going to talk about in the rest of the season? Oooh yeah, I forgot: flashbacks!! I really wanted this to be good but if they knew beforehand that they only have the talent to shoot a telenovela than they should've left the story alone.

interesting concept
27 April 2020
What if during a shootout between 2 gangs, people don't instantly drop dead when shot but suffer on? What if the standoff isn't swiftly over like some western duel? Some dialogue could've been written better but there a few good laughs with great actors. In short, an interesting movie experience. Definitely +7 on a IMDB movie rating scale.

amazing directorial debut
25 April 2020
Sam Hargrave! His first long picture and he's teaching the best how to shoot an action flick! Boy, what a directorial debut. That's some smooth camera work! At last, a director who turns the camera into the direction of the action! For example when the camera is nicely tucked in the backseat during a car scene and makes for some amazing shots. Don't forget the fight during the extraction! Especially the scenes in the apartment block where the camera follows a cop entering the compound during the pursuit. At one point it's too much! Agreed. But it's too much finely executed. It could've been better storywise. Yes of course, especially the ending. All that being said I can't wait for his next film. With all the bad movies shot these days I just hope Hollywood realizes this guy is a gem. Get him a great script and let him roll. He'll be fine. If this is the quality we get when Stuntmen become Directors than they all need to change careers, fast!

as expected
25 April 2020
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah , 2 Moroccans that grew up in Belgium. As a Belgian, I didn't believe my ears when I heard these two were gonna shoot a movie in Hollywood! They were able to shoot 3 movies in Belgium because of positive discrimination, and they failed three times. So don't waste your time. When Bad Boys for Life came out, I only heard good stuff about the movie. And, at the time, it even got more than 7 points on IMDB, which is mostly an indication that it's gonna be a decent/good movie. However, the current 6,8 is still way too generous. Deserves to be below 5. The movie is just plain awful. Every action scene was just amateurishly bad. It's good to give new talent opportunities but didn't anyone in Hollywood watch their first 3 movies and realize that they don't have any ?! Did they think a budget of 90 million was able to overcome this? Sadly it didn't, as expected.

not up to scratch
25 April 2020
The first season had its suspense, the second season was a drag, the third season is a car crash... In general, the writing of Westworld is weak. HBO unworthy. They're all over the place, want to do everything, assume a lot but execution of it all is terrible. The action is shot like a telenovela. HBO please do us all a favor. Fire all the writers, producers and directors responsible for this train wreck and start anew or just cut it!

don't let Jeroen Krabbé do a voice-over
18 April 2020
Bernard Rose (the director) should just admit as soon as possible that he doesn't have any talent in directing or writing for that matter. I don't know if anything portrayed in the movie has actually happened in his life? Besides writing the music I mean. In any case, it doesn't matter, true or false, the movies sucks. And it astounds me how you can have all this wonderful music and be unable to give it justice. They obviously had enough money to shoot the movie but it just started out bad with the terrible voice-over from Jeroen Krabbé...

No way it deserves a current 6.3 rating. The action is shot marvellously, a few laughs and an interesting ending.
