Kaun? (1999)
Great Suspence from RGV
I have seen many RGV films and this one could be put as one of his best movies other than classic COmpany. If you haven't seen this movie, i will recommend this movie. This movie has no songs and running time of about 100 minutes. The first 20 or 30 minute of the film is kind of slow, so if you can make it through it you will be up for a plesant surprise. Great acting by Urmila and Manoj Bajpai.
4/5
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001)
Gham All The Time![Cast is not what makes a good Movie]
Well just say this movie sucks.. i give it a 4 out of 10.
Other than few songs and well choreographed dances this movie is just waste of movie and Gham all the time.
I don't understand how this kind of movies make so much money. When will we understand, its not just cast which makes a movie Good.
Devdas (2002)
Devdas Falls on its face...!!
I tried to watch this movie twice and fail to finish it because of its slow pace. Finally i finished, it on my third try. Well this is an adapted story from a famous Novel. And been made to film few times. I had really good expectation for this movie, especially because of being the most expensive Indian Movie ever.. well at the time.
Devdas had a great cast, good acting from Ashwariya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan was his usual, Madhuri did her dent in the movie. The sets were very nice, so were the costumes. The Screenplay totally fell on its face. The cinematography was ok. Songs were good, but could have done without few of them. Editing could have been better and pacing of the movie should been improved.
1.So was this a masterpiece?
Absolutely NOT, not even close to one. Company was way better than this one.
2.Should it been nominated to Oscar from India?
NO! Its a shame that India has to send a movie like this from India. Lagaan was way superior movie that this one. Its time for India to also look into Regional Movies, there are tons of good movies made, Malayalam, Tamil, Telengu,Bengali.
6.5 out of 10
Moksha: Salvation (2001)
SalVation
Hello,
Since I bought Moksha sometime last year I wanted to see it. So today I made time to see it. After the movie I kicked and punched myself, for not watching it sooner. This movie won national award for Cinematography and Audiography. This movie reminded me of Memento. Different camera angles were used and overused which were sometimes distracting. The music was not impressive but went well with the story. There was pacing problems in some part of the movie especially the first half. The casting was perfect!!! Lots of symbolism used in the movie. I liked the use of black & white to portray present and color to potray past(flashback). I also liked the dream sequences. If you have seen this movie, please post your opinions.
Thanks Fin

Waking Life (2001)
Beautiful, Confusing, Technical - Life
I'm in college and we watch 1 or 2 movie per week. I bought this dvd, as it would stimulate some thoughts I have about life. It did its job. I invited many of my friends, and i got comments like "This movie should be watched when you are stoned" etc.. then i had to change the movie. Then I watched it myself. After watching this movie, I felt like thinking different or asking question or pondering on our existence is normal and what we should do rather than what is presented to us. When the movie finished i felt like I just woke up from a dream. The movie is inspiring to ask questions. Am I dreaming that I am writing this review? Was I dreaming that I was watching 'waking life'? DO we really exist? Are we saying, I think, I think I exist.
Signs (2002)
People fall into two categories!
Let me start by saying that this movie has an awesome casting. I will try to do include my comment without revealing anything. Aliens are coming and as you would know this. Signs are some how connected to this, but thats only the part of the plot. This is not a movie about alien or crop circles, theres more to the plot. But the talented director Shyamalan never let his audiences slip away or get distracted by it. He created the tense atmosphere through our emotions, the fear of unknown. The soundtrack, acting , atmosphere with our imagination can do wonder. Can anyone say Hitchcock? This is one of the movies you need to watch this summer..Keep looking for the signs! Till then Swing it.And Keep the faith.
Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001)
A Must see Movie Oscar??
This is one of the best movies in ever produced by bollywood. The acting was great. Amir Khan, Gracy Singh and Paul Blackthorne were amazing. This is one of the movies which is representing bollywood for Oscars. This movie also shows passion for the game of cricket. Ashutosh Gowariker did a good job on the twisted ending. I watched the subtitled version so a friend of mine could also watch the movie. He also like the movie. A Must Watch Watch Movie!!!!!!!!!!
