Kurak Günler (2022)
One of the best Turkish movies made in recent years
I entered the cinema with high expectations regarding the movie and I left satisfied. Of course there were some things I found unrealistic and some others were VERY realistic. And not everyone may enjoy the ending but I love that we can discuss and come up with different opinions. I loved the symbolism and the messages it conveyed. The cinematography was superb. I'd call this movie a political thriller with representations of "the other". The other here can be many things, including "women" (vs men), "urban" (vs rural), "queer" (vs cishet), "just" (vs corrupt), "minority" (vs majority). I believe this movie deserves our support. Despite being 2 hours and 9 minutes, it never felt so. I never realized how quickly the time went by. I'm considering a rewatch.
A League of Their Own (2022)
Loved it!
If this genre is your cup of tea, you may enjoy it. Although I hadn't known much about or hadn't had much interest in baseball before I watched it, I started to get it a bit thanks to this show. A League of Their Own (2022) is an entertaining and lighthearted show that also depicts some serious issues. It has some sad or very tender moments as well. Racism and homophobia are important themes which shouldn't be so shocking considering it takes place during World War II. But it also has friendships and family relationships as key elements. It's about women of different backgrounds following their dreams. It's a good show and I really can't wait for S2. I'll be recommending it to my friends until it's renewed. Come on Amazon Prime, give it to us!
