Moment of Truth (2017)
Always check inside the average rating
Never waste your time on a movie with only 8 reviews, or a total budget of only $2,000. It would be nice if streaming Amazon would weed this guys out.
The Center (2015)
Buyer beware, even with Amazon.
This is the second time I assumed because Amazon was streaming a movie you could trust the rating and that it was worthy of attention. But I'm learning the hard way to check the total number of ratings, and when it is low, like between 20 to 50, check out the internal spread. Apparently they do not go to that trouble. As in this example, you'll often find that half the ratings are spread out between 1 and 7 or 8, and then oddly, the other 40 to 50% are all 10's. I'm disappointed in Amazon streaming. I'm learning to stay with stay with Netflix
Retribution (2016)
It's actually your basic slasher movie in disguise.
I couldn't figure out how this movie had a rating above 6 while all 3 reviews list here gave it a 1. After wasting an hour plus on it, I now know.
I like a good revenge movie. Charles Bronson set the bar.
But this movie is only good for people that want senseless violence, torture, and a blood lust, but not for anyone with a mature brain that likes movies that make some sort of sense.
Flesh (2015)
Beware of how many reviewer votes went into the IMDB rating number
This level of film making would not be tolerated at the High School level. Not just the acting, but the sound and film quality, staging, editing, directing, script, and every other aspect. I started watching it because it was on Amazon Prime streaming and had a 6.0 rating. I assumed they had some level of standards. And so how do you get a IMDB rating of 6.? Because there were only 7 votes: 3 were 1's and 3 were 10's, and 1 was a 9. This thing was obviously outright rigged. I'm disappointed in Amazon for carrying it. It's my fault for not checking out the number of votes, not noticing that the total cost of the movie was $9,000. I bet you didn't know you could make a full length feature movie for that price. Well you can't .
Outlaws and Angels (2016)
Great performances - terrible story.
I rarely write reviews but I had to respond to the reviewer who said he liked it better than Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight". To mention these offerings in the same breath is a sacrilege. The actors do a pretty good job considering what they have to work with, but what little story value might have been possible is lost in the needless violence and senseless sex. Rather than waste your time with this one, I suggest you re-watch Jackson, Russell and Leigh in the latter film. It is somewhat longer and slower for sure, but at least you won't end up feeling you have wasted two hours of your life.
