I'll Be There For You!
20 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This is not necessarily a "chick-flick", it is a funny movie thanks to Amanda Peet and Ashton Kutcher. These two have fantastic chemistry together - they let each other shine without burning out the others' light. Oliver and Emily meet by chance on a flight and through the years they run back to each other for comfort in various times of need. Oliver goes off to Seattle to open his big business adventure and ends up in bankruptcy. He moves back home with his family to restart his life, then he walks by a gallery and finds the photo that Emily took of him and her on the rock that night in the park. It is a great moment for him to realize how much he is in love with her. He shows up at her doorstep, guitar in hand and is singing the Bon Jovi hit classic 'I'll Be There For You' (which I will add that Ashton can actually sing a decent note!) The classic moment that seals their fate was when she comes to his parents home and what she thinks is his wedding, she turns around and walks right into the glass door - HYSTERICAL! Oliver then chases after Emily and she is feeling confused, hurt and thinks it is too late but alas, it is Oliver's Sister's wedding not his....Oliver kisses her in the very romantic way to steal your heart...The first time I watched this movie, I thought for sure they were together in real life, that is how much their chemistry worked :-)

College Life - Lots of Fun :-)
20 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
With this movie being set in the life of college students trying to discover who they are and what they want to do is fascinating! It is fun to watch their relationships evolve, the various stages of their life. Jason Biggs (Hunter/Steve) is the perfect roommate to Freddie Prinze Jr's character (Ryan). They are polar opposites - "Ryan" tries to be the good, straight student and "Hunter" is enjoying his exlporing of parties, girls and the wild-side. The friendship between Jennifer (Claire Forlani) and Ryan is fun to watch. She is the ultimate "career college" kid that has been in college more than her 4 years because she was busy 'finding' herself and her relationships with the various men. She is a free spirit and helps to loosen Ryan from his stiff 'engineering' rules. It is a carefree and comedic relief type movie. There aren't too many serious scenes and that is OK, it is fun to watch. I love the club scene - the ultimate college club.

Simplistic and Beautiful
20 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
On a lazy Saturday afternoon, I stumbled upon this movie. I had never heard of this movie, but was intrigued by Campbell Scott; whom I have loved since Dying Young. This movie was beautifully written and was simplistic in its story, but that is extremely refreshing and beautiful. The entire cast was wonderful and they drew you in and made you feel as if you were there witnessing the entire story. The life that Adam gave to "Ralph" was beyond anyone's imagination. He shined like the bright star that he is. This role was made for him and he was made for this role. His vulnerability as a teenager growing up in the WWII era made him very believable. Campbell Scott of course was the beautiful mentor that did not try to steal this boys imagination, courage but yet, gave him support, guidance and love that he needed without being controlling like the elder Priest. I hope we see more of Adam and I hope that we see more films like this. Not everyone wants to see CGI films; simple writing and simple acting lasts longer and this is one movie that is not to be missed. Check it out, you will be joyfully surprised!
