The Big Bang Theory: The Valentino Submergence (2016)
That's it. I'm done.
After watching this show transform from a smart, nerdy sitcom into a soap opera the last couple of seasons, I told myself that if someone gets pregnant, that would be the last new episode I watch. Well, it happened, and in the same way Sheldon's ring for Amy was revealed, writing-wise. It has descended as far as it can. Paraphrasing what Sheldon said about 'Lost', "they lowered the quality every season until we were glad to see it go".
The bits with Penny and Leonard were tired. I don't know if it's the writing or the actors but they seemed to be just walking through the scenes.
I did like Sheldon and Amy's Fun with Flags, especially his new name for it as an 'honor' to her. A lot of those scenes made me laugh.
The Big Bang Theory: The Commitment Determination (2015)
The epitome of what is wrong with this show lately
The first half of this episode was funny, then they ruin it with the argument between Penny and Leonard after Leonard's confession of something that happened a while ago. That seemed to be the pattern this season - humorous then ending on something 'touching'. Then the out-of-the-blue revelation/cliffhanger of Sheldon having a ring for Amy, presumably to propose. If I want that, I'll watch soap operas. What's next, one of them will have a baby? Don't get me wrong, I think the addition of the Bernadette and Amy is great. They both add something to the show, but what made this show unique is the geek aspect. Bring back the geeks!
