Cube (1997)
Watchable, But Dated and Doesn't Have Impressive Dialogue
So, I found this film on YouTube for free. I thought this would be an interesting movie to watch. Cube was watchable because it had characters with different ages and diverse personalities. And then, it had the cube that caused psychological warfare on the vulnerable and ignorant characters that tried to get out of the cube to save their lives. Which made it have a higher chance of trying to scare the audience who watch this. However, I was not scared and was curious instead. Quentin, Joan, David, Kazan, Helen, Rennes, and Alderson were the characters that intrigued me enough that I was wondering what would happen if they worked together. Joan would be considered the smart yet sensitive girl that gets trapped in the cube, and then she attempts to find a way to get untrapped. Quentin was the aggressive and "empathetic?" predator who tried to promote efficient teamwork with the characters in the face of danger to get out of the cube. David was the practical but cynical man that made the outer shell of the cube who was most likely not going to get out of the cube no matter how much he contributed to helping the group of characters to escape their entrapment. Helen, the doctor with conspiracy thinking and optimism, was trying to help the characters collaborate with each other even though some of them seem to have a less likelihood of surviving. Rennes embodies the personality of an escape artist who is an opportunist that tried to get away from the cube independently until he meets the characters. Kazan appears to have special intelligence yet I'm wondering if Kazan was a former employee that made the cube but got turned into a mentally challenged person because the people who made the cube made sure Kazan could never remember how to get out of the cube. Though, I'm not sure what to say about Alderson. All of these characters in this Cube project were all created well except for their dialogue to some extent. This film looks dated because of the lack of enough technological advancement for me, so I felt kind of numb the entire time since I've already watched many horror films at this point in my life.
The Santa Clause (1994)
A Representation of America's Coldhearted Capitalism
Tim Allen portrays Scott Calvin, a coldhearted businessman that lives by the idea of gaining money and using logic more than compassion and morality. Which is why I'm not surprised that Scott's wife, Laura, divorced him and married a psychiatrist named Neal to make a stable environment for Charlie who is Scott's son. However, Charlie spends the night at Scott's house and Scott starts behaving in an awkward way around his son because Scott is used to talking to adults from America's coldhearted capitalism and living by the idea of money and logic more than being able to communicate with children diplomatically. Charlie continues to deal with awkward situations with his father until this film almost ends when Laura is burning the papers that grant the government the right to prevent Scott from visiting his son. Scott is still a businessman after this film ends when he becomes Santa Clause, but he seems to be less coldhearted. I'm not convinced that Scott Calvin has stopped being coldhearted completely, though. Disney made this film and that made me kind of hope that it would make me feel happy, but The Santa Clause makes me feel depressed, cynical, and desperate to find the Christmas spirit that doesn't seem to be quite there enough.
The Ranch (2016)
Looked Great at First, But Then Descended into a Banal Drama Show
Apparently, sexual harassment accusations without logical evidence from feminazis can fire a great actor such as Danny Masterson from this show. Which tells me how illogical people are becoming. Ever since Danny's absence, The Ranch became lackluster with repetitive F-bombs and petty drama that make this show's writing make the characters lack smart dialogue to keep me from easily predicting the characters' personalities. The Ranch's laugh track is unneeded as this show stopped having comedy because it descended into a banal drama show. Rotten Tomatoes gave this show a 63% rating, which tells me the critics from Rotten Tomatoes have sold out. Honestly going to say that I'm not surprised that season 4 is the final season. I actually stopped watching it after season 2.
The Voice (2011)
This is The Coaches, Not The Voice
Contestants and their talents in this show are underrepresented more than the coaches that are in their chairs. Sometimes the coaches interrupt conversations. Battles and the voting system are all rigged to promote favoritism for a certain coach instead of promoting a contestant's talent. I've heard about how Adam Levine was obnoxious to Christina Aguilera. And I've heard about Blake Shelton selling his soul in the music industry and being an unwisely loud-mouthed American. Miley Cyrus was my last straw, which made me discontinue watching The Voice. Drama from the coaches is not why I wanted to watch this show. I will say something about the coaches and the music industry, though. America's current music industry does not hold a candle to America's music industry before the year of 2000 because it has been scientifically proven that current pop music is less subtle, less imaginative, and less innovative than the pop music before the year of 2000. People such as Melanie Martinez do not impress me because she is doing what artists did before she was born, which doesn't make her historically innovative and instead makes her look like another music industry product that is repeating what has been done in the past to benefit the ignorant and impulsive masses. Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Miley Cyrus are obnoxious in the music industry. Which makes me come to the conclusion that I can't be entertained by this show anymore since it's promoting the continuation of the lack of innovation in the music industry. Otherwise, I do like the things that Kelly Clarkson and John Legend have done in the past even though I'm done watching The Voice.
The Phantom of the Opera (2004)
Unprofessional Music, Watered Down Writing, and Poor Directing
Only naive people would be easily impressed by the music, writing, and directing of this film. The Phantom of the Opera is supposed to have a scary-looking phantom, but this has a handsome Gerard Butler. Gerard Butler does not have a professional voice for operatic singing. Which is an insult to The Phantom of the Opera legacy. Hollywood unwisely rushed this by casting Gerard Butler to be The Phantom. Emmy Rossum who portrays Christine Daae will never hold a candle to Sierra Boggess vocally. The camera(s) that was/were used in the scenes shaked, which made the scenes look unstable in an unprofessional way. Christine Daae had an American accent when she was not singing and that's preposterous. Some people such as Patrick Wilson and Minnie Driver properly sang professionally. If you want a sophisticated The Phantom of the Opera performance, then watch The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall with Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo that was made in the year of 2011. Forget watching this 2004 movie please. Unfortunately, theatre classes will probably show this disgrace to young, impulsive, and ignorant children, teenagers, and young adults. Andrew LLoyd Webber and Joel Schumacher watered down the writing, which made this show ridiculable at an alarming rate. Not that it's going to keep me from mocking bad performances.
Game of Thrones (2011)
Hollywoodized to Death
This show has been Hollywoodized to death because the characters in this show are more physically attractive compared to the characters in the books. Daenerys Targaryen is still annoying with her self-entitlement complex to me. Littlefinger gets killed in a boring and disgraceful way in Game of Thrones. Characters such as Tyrion Lannister and Cersei Lannister have lower I.Q.s and less suspenseful intentions after George R.R. Martin stopped being involved in this show after season 5. Jon Snow never says much and there's never any narration about what he's thinking, so I don't find myself interested in him. Ygritte is better than Daeneys Targaryen from my perspective, so I was feeling uncomfortable the entire time that Daenerys and Jon were intimate with each other. Ramsay Bolton in the books was more dangerous in the books than in this show because, like I said, this show has been Hollywoodized to death to benefit the sensitive audience at the expense of quality violence, quality suspense, and quality character development. Nothing in this show was ever interesting after season 5 for me. I watched some videos on YouTube to know what happened after season 5, but I got tired of watching this because the sensitive audience that watched this show prevented characters from showing rape, genitalia, all forms of torture, and so forth. Game of Thrones will never hold a candle to the books that it is loosely based on. Starbucks cups prove how increasingly incompetent the showrunners became.
Ridiculousness (2011)
Rips Off Tosh.O in Every Way
Ridiculousness rips off Tosh.O in every way. MTV has stooped to a level of pettiness. Because Rob Dyrdek has sophomoric humor, which is why he shouldn't be on the show in the first place because it requires a level of talent and maturity to entertain people who aren't easily fooled. Chanel West Coast represents the spoiled and ignorant bleach blonde white girl that laughs to dull-witted jokes. Steelo Brim keeps the charade of this show alive. Everything about this show is an insult to the improvement of comedy. It's a reason why I've rejected the notion of watching any new show from MTV ever again because MTV's former glory ended once it stopped showing music videos and started showing banal shows that have been corrupting the youth with infidelity, drugs, gang violence, alcoholism, soul-selling greed, immoral opportunism, and other things.
Friday (1995)
This Film is Watchable, But This Film is Not Completely Original
I think people shouldn't steal, smoke, drink alcohol, eat too much, sleep with shady people, be extremely violent, make their neighborhoods filled with crime, have people cheat on their spouses, hit girls when girls are being brutally honest, be lazy bums, date people who are an extremely bad influence on society, and other things. So, I don't think people should be behaving the ways that the characters did in this film. Which makes me come to the conclusion that people shouldn't take this film seriously. My favorite scene in this film is when Willie Jones tells his son Craig Jones how the world works in the kitchen by saying that money doesn't grow on trees. Another scene that I liked in this film is when Willie Jones tells Craig Jones that a gun doesn't make a man a man. From what I experienced when I watched this film, Willie Jones might have been the smartest character in this film. The last scene I liked in this film was when Debbie confronted Deebo. Debbie may have been the smartest character in this film, too. Craig Jones seemed smart, but he seemed to be impulsive and negatively influenced by Smokey. Getting analytical about Smokey's personality has made me come to the conclusion that Smokey is an immoral opportunist and he used Craig Jones to fight people for him. Besides that, this film had fun music to listen to. I won't be surprised if this film and its soundtrack got positive reviews. Now, I know this film was not intended to be a film for intellectuals. Overweight women were disrespected in the plot in this film, but Big Worm doesn't get disrespected from being fat because he's a man. Jokes in this film were not intellectually stimulating. However, some of the jokes in this film were original. The music in this film, the original jokes in this film, the scene where Debbie confronts Deebo, the scenes where Willie Jones tells Craig Jones how the world works, and Chris Tucker are why I give this movie 5 stars. R.I.P. John Witherspoon.
Rick Astley: Never Gonna Give You Up (1987)
The Video is Good Visually, but the Unintellectual and Repetitive Lyrics Ruins It
Rick Astley has a seductive voice although he does not implement it efficiently with unpredictable and pensive lyrics. Instead, Rick's style for this song is based on superficial simplicity to appeal to the simpleminded masses. I would like to like this song, but the unintellectual and repetitive lyrics in it ruin it. "Never Gonna Give You Up" has lyrical repetitiveness that makes the chorus lose its effective charm for me. This music video, on the other hand, has good dancing in it.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)
Nothing But Eye Candy, Unrealistic Expectations, and Predictable Plots
A lot of people praise this show, but it makes me concerned about their ability to have an intellectual capacity. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is nothing but eye candy, unrealistic expectations, and predictable plots if you have a brain. Spike is pompously claimed to be the best character in television history, but he is the fundamental reason why this show and Buffy Summers stopped having great potential and turned into a ridiculous fanfiction about Buffy and Spike's preposterous relationship. James Marsters, the actor that portrayed Spike, was traumatized when he finished making the controversial episode called "Seeing Red". Let's not forget that Buffy Summers became a whiny minimum wage worker that started to feel guilty about the things she did and she became an embarrassment in front of her friends because of Spike. Honestly, I'm not surprised if Sarah Michelle Gellar didn't want to portray Buffy Summers anymore after season 2 because the writers and producers made Buffy Summers look like a feminist joke. Glory was a banal villain who never said anything witty or original. When I was watching Angel, I came to the conclusion that he was a cardboard character that convinces Buffy to fall in love with him to the point that it made me feel like vomiting. Riley became another cardboard boyfriend for Buffy, which became a tired plot. Villainous characters that are unoriginal are part of this show most of the time. Even though Buffy had slayer powers, she had laughable "fighting" styles to defeat these villainous characters because this show was written by ignorant nerds who didn't have experienced fighters train actresses and actors to properly display fighting techniques. Charisma Carpenter was the actress that portrayed Cordelia Chase and just because Cordelia's character wasn't much of a fighter like Buffy Summers, I found that I liked Cordelia way more than Buffy when she stopped being the popular high school girl that bullied people such as Willow and Xander. On the other hand, I want to talk about Drusilla. Drusilla was written to be crazy, evil, and dangerous. But, I wasn't impressed by Drusilla in the slightest. She reminded me too much of other crazy, evil, and dangerous characters in older shows like the Red Skull character. Not that I'm saying everything in this show was horrible. I don't mind that Spike got a soul, Spike sacrificed his life for Buffy in the episode "Chosen", Xander became more mature and assertive, Willow became more confident and powerful, Giles got away from Buffy so Buffy and Giles could live their lives more independently instead of relying on each other so much, Faith stopped being a conceited man-hater and started treating men better, Dawn became more mature and independent, and so forth. Questioningly, I wondered why Buffy the Vampire Slayer never stopped making seasons before season 4 when Buffy Summers defeats the bad guys in Sunnydale High School until I realized the greedy writers and producers want to keep milking the show until season 7. But, I think that Buffy the Vampire Slayer should have only lasted for a very few seasons because it became unoriginal, predictable, and eye candy at the expense of great potential for the characters in this show.
