Matthew McConaughey was definitely a miscast
19 June 2023
He didn't look like a legitimate lawyer but an overacting high school dropout. There's no way he could convince any audience he's capable of doing the job to be a defense lawyer for a capital murder case. I think he didn't study how to be a convincing lawyer who's seriously enough to take a life-and-death legal case. And he's so lazy not to learn and change his formulaic Texan accent. Serious actor always knows when and how to change his accent in different movies at different localities.

This movie also suffered so many flaws of bad screenplay, terrible dialog, miscast, poor directing and weak scenarios. What we saw in this movie were about half of the characters who looked just like a bunch of clowns, while the other half were deadly serious, and the biggest clown figure in this movie was the leading role played by Matthew McConaughey.

I've read this novel and liked it, but this movie was seemingly on purpose turning it into a completely different farce. This is the second time I tried to watch this movie, but again, I just couldn't finish it like last time. It's just too pretentious and pathetic to watch.

Bloody Daddy (2023)

This stupid movie is for the blind audiences
16 June 2023
I was just turned off immediately after about three to four minutes of this ridiculous movie churned out of India. An absurd and lazy production. The protagonist and his stupid sidekick didn't buckle up until the last moment. They argued about the smell of the masks which were kept by his sidekick? They chased a car and got it at the right time and the right place, both cars were basic entry models. The guy could predict exactly the other car's movements, he could miraculously T-bone it when it came out of the crossroad. Wow, this guy was a psychic, man. The car they hit kept flipping over and over, but we could see so clearly it's empty. They rushed out of their car with their guns blazing, shot so many bullets at the car that had been crashed and flipped over so many times, but its both sides windows were intact like nothing happened, yet funnily, only its rear windshield broken, like it was hit by bullets. But, Jesus, the stupid impossibilities just kept showing: They shot the car from both sides of that car through the windows, but those windows were still intact like nothing happened; even the bullet-prove windows would at least show some cracks when hit by so many bullets, but no, my blind audience friends didn't see at all. When the protagonist forced the guy to open the trunk, what we saw when it opened, the bag was neatly set close to the opening, and a knife was also neatly under that bag; after the small car crashed by another small car, the crashing force from a small car could make the car keep turning over and over so many times, and the bag and the knife could still stay at the same place, and the knife could still neatly covered under the bag.

So, after watched these incredible scenes, I suddenly found my I. Q. and my eyesight were still quite okay, no dementia, no cataracts. Hurray!

Are you guys serious? Any score over 5/10 is ridiculous!
6 June 2023
I have to quote part of the reviewer drjgardener5' comments first to point out how badly this movie was executed, then some more:

"Couldn't afford a military adviser?

Drjgardner5 June 2023

If your identity has been exposed and your picture is all over the news, do you continue to look exactly like you look in the picture or do you shave your beard and head and wear different clothes? Maybe even add a scar? And if you're attacking a car from a helicopter, do you attack from the front, or from behind and to the left? And tell me how with no surveillance at all, you know the exact location of a car you're chasing? These are but a few of the flaws in the film that detract from taking it seriously."

Scenes from the very beginning that would put my I. Q. to test: You think that the Iranian regime now would allow the white westerners to service their most critical and important telecom system? Would allow the guy to use his cellphone when he did the repair works? Are the Iranian government so stupid and so naive to allow two foreigners manhandled their telecommunication systems? Would you believe that the Wi-Fi signals in the Iranian desert, in the middle of nowhere, maybe the strongest and most advanced?

And how long an American spy satellite could stay in the orbit exactly stay over Iran and exactly pinpoint the location where all the scenes that we saw on the screen. Or is it an American drone, a stealth one, that could permanently hover over the scenes that we saw? So far, an armed drone can only carry two bombs and dropping them by remote controllers far away from Iran. Yet what we saw in this frigging stupid movie, bombs dropped like rain from the sky in clustered formation and every one of them dropped on the Iranian military armor trucks like smart bombs. Furthermore, you think the Iranians would be so stupid and blind, allowing American drones to stay over its airspace without even knowing, and their air defense is nothing but a joke?

I've already lost my patience to watch the absurd and slow-going of the movie from the early on and the later absurdities. I would think "The Covenant" is a more believable thriller, except the cardboard acting of the guy who played the Afghanistan interpreter.

Crossroads (2020)

Poorly scripted, directed and acted
24 May 2023
Don't know how come this lousy movie would be able to get incredibly 8.3/10 rating. Almost all the actors, male or female, acted so poorly that you might have to force yourself to sit patiently to watch on. The screenplay is perhaps the major factor that ruined the whole movie from the very beginning, it's so incoherent and inconsistent in the narrated dialog. For example, when the soon-to-retire police chief questioned the so-called senator's wife, the Q&A was ridiculous. Her answers were so incoherent and so randomly ridiculous, and the scenes that tried to play out what she said were also so ridiculously clueless. Four guys arrested for no reason, the police roadblock checkpoint scenes involved for the arrests were also so poorly directed and edited. Anybody with the least normal I. Q. would puzzle what's all about.

The soon-to-retire chief also did a very poor job in acting, he smiled to the senator's wife with no reason.

There are scenes that absolutely unnecessary or absolutely too long, both obviously followed the poor script to act out under the poor direction of the non-talent lousy director.

You must be either a genius or a moron to have the patience or the time to sit through the whole nine yards to finish watching this pathetic, boring crap from Nigeria.

8.3/10? Over my dead body!

The Assault (2010)

Absolutely unbelievably stupid!
12 February 2023
The French GIGN is suppose to be an ultra secret special force and more like a military organization. Their missions are usually very secret mostly related to national security. Yet one of this GIGN members' wife would immediately know her husband will be on a very dangerous mission and could show up at his camp to ask him not to go. And this guy would talk to her freely about his coming mission...Yeah, if you could accept such stupidity and ridiculousness, then you should watch on. Then again, when the military cargo plane is about to take off, this guy would have the liberty to call on a payphone to say goodbye to his wife and kids. Yeah, right, if you could accept that, just go ahead to watch on. This specific guy is undoubtedly suffering an eye or brain problem since he couldn't see clearly, that's why he shoot a woman in front of him during an assault mission. Then this guy tries to shoot the target, but every shot just misses the target. Yeah, if you think this pathetic guy should be still being allowed on a dangerous assault mission, then...just keep watching, I won't stop you.

Ruined by a clown actor
9 February 2023
The character Seiyô Uchino, played by Ryôma Sakamoto was a disastrous cast. If the whole drama series without his involvement, it could be a great one. But sadly, with his constant overacting like a clown, sometimes even more like a jerk, the viewing had become almost a torture. Every scene with his presence, the exaggeration of his facial expressions, his unnatural body movements, his hands gestures, the delivery of his overblown dialog, suddenly, this supposed to be sincere and touching drama, would become a farce-like practical joke! I don't know how the director or the screen writer(s) would have allowed or even encouraged him to play such important role. Seiyô Uchino is suppose to be a very serious ronin samurai, what Ryôma Sakamoto performed only degraded him as a half-crazy unstable jerk. All the characters in this drama looked normal and acted normally. It supposed to be a quite serious time-traveling sci-fi drama, mixed with Japan's historical background and historical figures, but allowing this Ryôma Sakamoto to freely exaggerated as he liked, this drama series has become an almost unbearable viewing experience. I have to fast forward whenever this jerk-like clown appeared, even it's critically important.

Where's the beef?
8 February 2023
I mean, what's the purpose of writing of a screenplay without purpose? What's the purpose writing a hollow, empty story without anything in it? Directing and producing a completely going-nowhere, absolutely unnecessary crap for what? Nostalgic and melancholy that a MILF has to cope with, deal with and to face a SSDD life and lifestyle. Then this MILF finds comfort and friendship from an immigrant young black guy? Brushing teeth, taking pill, lying in the bathtub with three candles, eating alone, turning on the heater, moving a pair of shoes close to the heater, cleaning up the garbage when a movie ends...Well, what's the purpose of making this deadbeat pointless movie? Then the young black guy bids her goodbye, then what? Another routine 24/7/365. What's going on?

Terrible
6 February 2023
This is probably the worst movie of Ken Takakura, not only his acting is bad, the script is also bad, the director also sucks. Takakura Ken's acting is very blunt, not like a very talented actor at all, his acting skills are very awkward and rigid, It's even a bit like a Korean actor, who must use constant self-talking to himself to express the thoughts in his head, and then use movements to follow his thoughts, it looks just pretty stupid. All the other supporting roles are not good at all because of the lousy script and the bad director.

After the movie continued for ten to fifteen minutes, it was almost unbearable and unwatchable at all!

Poorly scripted movie with the worst male cast
5 February 2023
The whole film looks like a tourist movie about Rome, except that a couple of American men and women are introduced to them.

Audience. The story is utterly empty. And the actor's acting skills are unimaginably bad, there is no acting skills at all, He can only memorize lines, and has nothing to do with all the heroines and even other supporting actors. And the heroine is also completely There is no emotion whatsoever. Apart from wearing a red sweater and riding a motorcycle to look handsome and cool, I really don't know how to do it.

Why would they find someone who can't act so well to play the leading role. The dialogue throughout the film is utterly empty. Viewers just borrow This video shows what Rome looked like in the early days, and introduced it to Americans through two handsome men and beautiful women running around, attracting them We're just traveling to Italy.

Interceptor (2022)

Not bad, actually
22 January 2023
I have to tell you the truth about this Australian Matthew Reilly's fictions: They are fantastic to read, if you could allow your imagination to be combined with wide ranged fantasy. The heroes he created in his novels are not super heroes but just a bunch of tough like nail, well-trained, die-hard military guys with smart but stone-cold will to deal with lot of impossible and deadly situations by die-trying and never let go. They are just what we have seen in this movie, a female military personnel who has to deal with an almost impossible situation and alone. Matthew Reilly is a pretty exciting writer with lot of fancy ideas, his military knowledge and know-hows are not exactly realistic and true, but his inventive imagination is way beyond. There are lot of quite genius imagined inventions of weaponry in his novels, but they all looked real. Reading his novels won't like what you've usually seen those movies out of Australia. His writing prose is more American, more internationally overlapped. Before watching this movie, I didn't know that he has used his versatile talent to direct movie adapted from his own novels just like Michael Connelly, who has adapted his detective character, Harry Bosch, into TV series.

When I read his 4 Shane Schofield novels, I had thought about how great if these 4 novels could be adapted into franchise-like exactly like the Mission Impossible franchise, but they would be more exciting. Actor who plays Shane Schofield would instantly become as popular as Tom Cruise.

As to this Interceptor (2022), it's actually not bad, not bad at all. The leading female actor did a darn good job too. As long as you could put aside your personal military background and unleash your imagination, it's actually pretty watchable. If you could accept 007 and Mission Impossible, accepting their OTT creativity and ridiculousness, why you couldn't accept this NOT SO BAD one?

Worth watching but
21 January 2023
It was completely ruined without a properly translated subtitles. The settings, the acting, camera operating, directing...etc., etc., are all pretty good, but with a barely correct translation by translation engine, the so-called AI translation, sometimes totally wrong, sometimes suddenly omitted, the available English subtitles did not help a bit but just caused more confusion. There are so many scenes without translated subtitles, or completely disappeared, or misplaced names or titles, this supposedly not bad Korean palatial thriller turned out to be quite clueless often. The actor who played the blind guy either played dumb or overacted like a numb and helpless guy. So if you don't know Korean language and completely rely on the only available but absolutely horrible subtitles which about 85% wrong or incorrect or clueless or either slower or faster 0.5 sec to match the on-screen dialog, all you could do is to GUESS to fool yourself. I wish there would be a more accurately translated subtitles that would allow me to watch it again from the very beginning. But if you understand the Korean language, you might enjoy this seriously produced thriller.

Very watchable
21 January 2023
This movie is actually pretty good and absolutely interesting to watch. It's also told a story of tragic fate that whoever involved in it would suffer and pay for the inevitable consequences as a chain-link domino falling one after another. There are several flaws that I think if edited smartly or more carefully enough, this movie could even become better; i.e., the two fashion shows are way too long, they just slowed down the flow of this movie. The fashion shows also felt repeatedly boring and cliched. Hiring some American Hippie-like men to play the vicious lowlife American GI Joe is a disastrous joke. Long hairs and unshaved beard, messy uniforms, Jesus. The young Japanese detective is acted like a Yakuza. The editing is also a bit of messy. But all of these shortcomings won't impair the whole movie's interesting scenarios. George Kennedy in this movie also performed well. Broderick Crawford is just too old to play that captain role, way passed the police retirement limit.

A nostalgic movie about the 70s' of the 20th Century. Highly recommended.

Good premise ruined by annoying overacting and
24 April 2022
Bad dialog. The leading actor is so annoying and unlikable. His constant overacting, non-stop exaggerating almost wore my patience thin and kill my interest to go on. Storyline is actually not bad but again, ruined by terrible dialog, just too cliched. The bad detectives' scenario was ridiculed, they looked and acted more like thugs or gangsters, completely dramatized and unrealistic.

One of the BEST Korean movies ever watched
21 April 2022
This movie is such a sad, heavy-burdened movie to watch, yet at the same time, a fantastic one to hang onto you long after you've watched it. The two leading male and female actors both did unbelievably believable performances to portray the profound feelings and their journeys of their lives. The camera works, the soundtrack, the directing and the editing all were top-tier teamwork and did a great visualization of a great screenplay with profound dialogue. The pace was sometimes a bit too slow and only added more heaviness for us to suffer together with these two young people.

Another beautifully done Korean movie. Highly recommended.

Things I really don't like
1 January 2022
The horribly exaggerated, inappropriate soundtrack almost ruined our viewing. The music, just like all the movies made in the 40s' to 60s', all bombard non-stop with such unnecessary force in loud volume to synchronize with every movement of the characters, yet most of the time just proved to be totally unnecessary and annoying. I think it's the soundtrack that tried so hard actually killed the Western genre movies. This movie is no exception. So loud, so totally unnecessary, banging with every movement and moment. So disturbing and so annoying.

The terrible voice of Susan Hayward. Her voice was always like from an older woman, even she looked young enough in some of her early, very unattractive to the ears. Her overacting was also a minus, just like the pretentious soundtrack.

I gave 5/10 all to the great cinematography of the camera works, the settings and the fighting scenes, but not the storyline. Tyrone Power in this movie also failed miserably. He looked like a cardboard figure.

Again, just another blah, blah and blah wet dream
8 December 2021
Well, suppose I was the guy over 60 or maybe even over 65, with bald head, short, out of shape and, actually as ugly as a toad or an old hippo, I couldn't imagine to have a wife like that. Furthermore, I couldn't believe there would be another young woman in Rome would fall for me (I can't type "fall in love with me", cos it's absolutely impossible!)

But you know what? Woody this time replaced his own pathetic image with another guy who looked even more pathetic than him to play this Don Juan/Valentino oddball from New York again. Guys created by Woody seemed always got a 2nd chance to hit the jackpot to find some nice and young women somewhere on this planet would catch him up and madly fall in love with him. Yeah, always believe "When a door closed, another window will open", no matter how old and ugly you are, as long as you are able to keep blabbering to shoot off your mouth to prove that you're still have the energy and urge to hook up a new woman for your senior years.

Hey, Woody, you continued to give many many old gizzards and goofballs hope. I can't thank you enough.

Not as good as the others said
8 December 2021
I did finish this movie, but I didn't quite like it. The screenplay is very patchy, the acting of the two main characters are rigid, the storyline is not interesting but lame. That druggie could shoot photos with a camera with broken lens and without charging it when he lived in a no-water, no electricity patched up hut? And the guy couldn't hold the camera correctly, just some weird gesture. The other guy who spent his whole life to run but gave it up to let other guy to win? He was not outstanding at all from what we saw. So there's nothing commendable or recommendable to watch this lamer. I've pathetically wasted my time to hang on to the end, but ended up with nothing rewarding.

Don't waste your time to watch this bomber.

My impression on this movie changed after 45 years
4 December 2021
I just feel so funny after watched this movie the 2nd time after 45 years. I was so shocked and amazed by this movie when I first time watched it in a different country. I thought it was so great and unique. But now I'm old gizzard, I got a day-and-night different view of this movie, and thought it's such a poorly scripted, badly acted movie. I couldn't even finish it and decided to drop out after 30 minutes. It's so unbearable to watch Quinn's pretentious and awkward acting with bunch of Japanese American women. They tried to twisted their American accent to speak funny, mimicking the thought-so Eskimo talking, it's just so embarrassing to watch these actors tried so hard to look like simple-minded primitive Eskimo people, but inevitably fell flat like ridiculous clowns.

Sorry, I just couldn't force myself to finish this moronic movie.

Drive me nuts
3 December 2021
I always amazed to see this kind of documentary movies. But at the same time, I could never understand the psychology of those mountain climbers or snowboarders, climbing up on those high altitude vertical mountains or sliding down or even dropping down from those extremely dangerous snowy mountains and cliffs. What are the exact purposes of doing these adventures? Thrill seeking? Make fun at death? But these daredevils still need sponsors to financially support them to do it since doing these cost lot of money from logistic to you-name-it expenses.

I could never imagine how these documentaries were made, the climber in this one got so many close-up shots that looked like at least one camera man was either on top of him or just next to him. But the scenes also showed us that he was alone. Shooting by drones?

My next puzzle never unsolved is how him got down from the summit? Climbing down from a different route of the mountain? Or he was picked up by a chopper at the summit? The fact is that we often saw how these climbers did and finally reached the top of a super-high altitude mountain, but we never saw any film that showed us how these guy getting down from those summits afterwards.

The purposes of making these nail-biting documentaries behind all claims are also puzzled me greatly, especially to people like me, a certified couch potato.

This movie gave me a very weird feeling
3 December 2021
The funniest thing about this movie is when those soldiers sang, they sang in French to hint us it's based on a French historical episode. But while soldiers sang in French, those credited leading and supporting actors who played those French characters were talking in American or British English in so many different accents. It's a weird configuration without any logic. Then Ben Affleck's weird blonde hairs and beard, together with Matt Damon's weird beard further ridiculed it.

Many absolutely unnecessary battle scenes full of graphic killings only showed us how hollow this movie actually is. This is a very poorly scripted, directed and acted movie. It just looked so messy, weird and uncomfortable to watch all the time.

Bad and wrong cast choice
18 November 2021
First of all, I think the leading male actor is a very bad choice for this romcom. I still remembered when I watched the "Crown" TV series, once this guy appeared, I just lost my interest in this series. Now this weird looking actor appeared in this movie has proved that my first impression on this actor is definitely right on the mark. What a terrible, inappropriate choice to put this dude in it. I also not quite understand why so many movie makers wanted to use the 1950~1960 era as movie background, and used that era's music to make-believe it. This is a complete failure of a movie that I really don't like, not just shallow and ridiculous but just totally unnecessary to be bothered.

Amazingly unexpected messy movie
16 May 2021
Who wrote the screenplay, and who greenlit the production? Since when our firemen have become just a bunch of wild uncontrollable morons? Where this movie trying to go? For what purpose to patch up such random and messy scenarios? Did A. J. really carefully read the manuscript to sign on playing that role or, she just needed the money? The only thing that came up to my mind when I watched this movie was: WTF?! What's going on? We've already got the ProudBoys, Qanon, the far right extremists, the GOP mutant members on the Hill, do we really need to add some new domestic terrorist group? I really don't know what happened in Hollywood or, to say more exactly correct, America or, this country already turned into a Banana Republic?

Don't you ever waste your time to watch this Mess; consider you've been fairly forewarned.

An absolutely wrong cast!
16 May 2021
I still couldn't understand why this movie would cast the very old guy to be the lover of a very young or still young woman. Bogart was definitely a wrong cast that simply turned every possible romantic feeling off. It was so unnatural to see Audrey Hepburn would have fallen love with such an old retiree. I just couldn't be persuaded and convinced there's believable chemistry between these totally day and night, ancient and modern match-making, only felt disgusted to the extreme.

A fairly okay but overly cliched Western
13 May 2021
Although the camera works were good, the cinematography was nice, but the feeling of this western is just too modern and new. Ranch fences already got white paint? The house his father resided looked also too new with modern touch all over and way too well maintained. The gunshot wounds looked pretty ugly realistic, added one more star to it. But the whole movie is just too blend and has been told over thousand times. The way-too-modern touch is the thing that I simply can't bite into it and treated it as a great Western.

A heavily dramatized farce in the Middle East
12 May 2021
Can you believe the American State Dept would that stupid to expatriate young diplomat to the Middle East and didn't train and educate him well enough to know and understand the customs of the Muslims? This guy bulged into the territory without even having the basic knowledge of the Arabian culture and all the the taboos not allowed? Eating with left hand? Taking away the hijab of a woman, albeit a married one? Sitting down next to a married Arabian woman? The mockeries of James Michner's novel were just too many and too unbelievably unconvincing that had shown every segment of this movie.

"We Muslim men valued women less than our mules, but tributed all the love to them in our poetry" , the only thing that I totally agreed. It shows how weird the Arabian male chauvinists' logic is. Then when the French government passed a law to forbid the Muslim females wearing hijabs in public, but the Muslim women protested, claiming it violated their right to choose. It's another weird Middle East logic, but this time, it's the females who refuse to liberate themselves.
