BuzzFeed Unsolved: True Crime (2016)
Good fun.
Not what I expected. Lots of humor and laughs. It also sheds fresh light on topics thar I didn't know or never knew.
The show is fun and educational. Who'd have thought?
Donnie Darko (2001)
I've given this my own new title...
"The Weird Life and sad Death of Donnie Darko".
I'm very late in finally watching this bizarre movie. I only liked it for Jake Gyllenhaal. It was fun and interesting to watch him in what is basically his first big role.
He was very good (well, so was everyone). I just didn't like the story very much. I also found the directing self indulgent.
I think I'm just getting to old to appreciate the cult like spin of this film.
Flack (2019)
I've seen this before...
Wait...I think it's called "Sex and the City"... although this is raunchier.
Holding the Man (2015)
Sadder than I expected.
Very well acted and tightly directed. Unfortunately a bit melodramatic at times, and it's fairly sexually explicit. Overall, a pretty good film, but do I dare to say, I've seen it before, the general theme of aids?
Dolittle (2020)
Surprisingly entertaining.
Much better than the other critics would have you think, this film is visually spectacular, with a great all-star voice cast and a very family-friendly plot. Robert Downey Jr. is sometimes hard to understand what, with his bizarre accent and the direction is somewhat disjointed at times, with action set pieces not playing out as smoothly as they could. Ultimately it's a good film to watch with the kids. The family pets will like it as well. I'm still a big fan of the musical version made in the 60's, with the "Push me - Pull you" creature and Rex Harrison
Knives Out (2019)
Mature Fun!
Well written and acted, this film plays out like a longer episode of the television version of Fargo.
The direction is crisp and the all-star cast does a great job!
I lked this movie a lot.
The Possession of Hannah Grace (2018)
The Excorcist revisited?
Not a terrible movie. It has a scary moment or two, but it's not a classic. It looks moody and it has its moments of gross out and chills, but unltimately it's pretty derivative. The acting isn't to bad and the no name cast does its best with the week script. I watched it home alone, which didn't allow me find any humour. The thing it reaaly did was scare me because it seemed to set itself up for a sequel! Ugh.
