Tenet (2020)
Time a weapon?
Loved the concept and the complexity, to move the past and the future fluidly working together was always going to juggle the marbles up with most viewers brains.
Quite a simple plot once you're unscrambled it. Yes there is a Bond and yes there is a Bond villain and yes there is a Bond girl and yes there are Bond locations. Theres even a Felix Leiter and the usual carvery that enter into most bond movies.
Time itself is the bomb of mass destruction for this madman, oh and everybody in the future who doesn't like us destroying there eco systems.
It's all there you just have to piece it together. It took one take for me. But I imagine it will take a few watches for a lot of people. Suggest you watch the first few bond movies and Nolan's other movies , it will help.
Oh another thing, there's absolutely no problem with sound and dialogue watching on a TV and a good surround system. Can't answer for watching it at the cinema, and maybe there was a issue.
Charlie's Angels (2000)
Simply brilliantly silly and fun and makes me smile every time I watch it.
It's a little time bubble that unless you grew up with these stars wont give you the impact it has on a certain generation.
Best watch first ET, Groundhog day, Rocky Horror Picture Show , Friends, and Something about Mary, Back To Future to name a few.
Lucy Liu was pretty much a new entry for me, but they all blended beautifully on top of knowing the original Charlie's Angels.
Love the one liners. ' Was it the Chad?' ' No the Chad was great'
Diaz as Natalie has a smile that's wider than the Jokers and its could be the darkest coldest Wettest day of your life and Natalies Character could make you smile and see that there is plenty of sunshine out there.
I love tickets too Nat.
It's never going to win a Oscar. But there are plenty of action Comedies that try too hard to be funny and you are finding it hard to find the humour. This one for me is a Oscar winner for popcorn fun and action, with music that works perfectly with each scene.
It's a classic now for me, now it's over 20 years old.
Invasion U.S.A. (1985)
Explosive Chuck Norris
One of all my all time favorite Chuck Norris movies.
This is Norris a Marvel hero of the 80s.
It's all nonsense of course, but great fun.
Lots of explosions and gun action and little hand to hand contact if you are looking for that in our Hero Chuck.
I am a 20 something 80s man and I love Nostalgia. Chuck got me down the gym and into boxing and Karate and judo and denim.
I probably was too busy Clubbing to have seen this at the Cinema and I'm not sure it's was a movie for your date. It's was a movie to watch after the pub with your mates.
Is not a film for the 20 something of the 2020s unless you like to share a beer with your Dad and enjoy his movie collection.
Proud to be Chuck fan
Never Take Sweets from a Stranger (1960)
Like hammering a stake into a Vampires heart, yet more shocking than any Hammer film I've seen.
The title of the film is a bit of a give away. and for some reason I missed the first scene and I picked up the film when the parents get home and nanny is knitting a sweater, music is light and the little poppit creeps down stairs to say hello to her folks. I was expecting lassie to make a cameo appearance at this point to complete the scene. What the little girl comes out with at this point is no less than putting a stake in any parents heart. It was a shocker.
Far more than a public information movie.
You will naturally draw parallels if you are of a certain age.
There is horror all around, a cigarette box on the dressing table, a jury full of middle aged men only, as two examples and not one bloodstain or masked assailant is required.
Highly recommend to all, but the goth lovers of horror, won't be your couple tea.
Saturn 3 (1980)
Love Cheese and Ham
Reading the reviews I already know what I've ordered. A trail blazer and a lovely sketch pad , without it we probably wouldn't have the SF quality film makers we see today.
Ham and Cheese with a little Fara Fawcett as the mayo and actor legend Kirk Douglas.
1 star for quality of film. 5 stars for the ham and cheesy
