Perilloor Premier League (2024)
The perfect webseries
It is something I can say in all honesty, watch it for the Plot, Gentleman and Lady! You will not be disappointed you get something delivered every five minutes roughly.
The pacing never slows until the last minute of the last episode.
None of the dialogue is slapstick! That is a rarity and an achievement if you are serious about comedy.
None of the characters I tell you! None of them do something stupid ( I mean unless they are stupid but that is staying in character )
You will see a bit of yourself in atleast one of the characters. I guarantee you laughs.
My only regret is if I cannot recommend this enough.
The real question we should be asking ourselves is...
When is the next season? Ente Perilloor Ammé!
Paramporul (2023)
Natural, Unique and interesting but not enough bite
The film starts good has intrigue tries to flesh out characters but the intrigue begins way too early.
For the way the character's dialogues show no complexity their motives and behaviours are complex. The Dialogues though simple feel real like something you can hear or speak on a daily basis.
The screenplay for a complex and contrived plot need a hefty amount of shadowing. This causes the viewer to feel like a passenger on a derailed train. But not necessarily...
This is a good attempt and we need more attempts like this. To tell information without it being infodump or lecturing or having the characters behave as school kids or dumb fools is a rare thing in Tamil cinema. Some of it is reminiscent of dheeran adhikaram ondru minus the action of course.
The story is airtight. Because there isn't much happening. There are very few characters. There is very few marked events and the same characters talk back and forth interacting with each other. Nothing fancy or put of the ordinary has occured in the film.
It's just decent. And it doesn't deserve a 9.1 rating at all. Let's reserve that for groundbreakers and Mavericks and the rarest of the rare please.
DD Returns (2023)
An abomination that mustn't be repeated
A massive waste of time and effort without even working on dialogues.
I was waiting throughout the whole movie to laugh at some point in the film. Redin Kingsley is the reason I can condone that this movie.
Pathukku pathu kuduthavanugaulkellam manasatchiye illiya da!? Valkaila ningellam nalla padame paathadhu illaya? Idhu 10/10 na pariyerum perumal evlo? Ratchasan evlo? Jai bheem evlo?
Chandramukhi first half is what you call horror comedy done right. Comedy is a serious business. Comedians understand this. Anyone who doesn't understand this becomes a buffon.
The point of ghosts in Tamil cinema has become a caricature. The director has to be a master of coercion. This movie is a gross misunderstanding of that because he has coerced the producer to make this godawful abomination that should never have been lifted off the editors table.
