Old (2021)
Shyamalan at his most Hitchcockian
What other director can make such a high-concept thriller feel so personal ?
This will undoubtedly be a divisive movie, but it's films like this that only gain praise with time. It's extremely original story telling depicts the way time goes by in the blink of an eye, and how little our grievances with loved ones matter in the end.
The cast is fantastic, and it's awesome to see such a talented and diverse group of actors which symbolically plays so well with this film.
M. Night's humor is also at its most mature to date, finding the humor in horror ways few directors are able to.
It's cinematography is ambitious and encompassing, and the screenplay is really effective and layered considering the events taking place. M. Night is continuing his path as one of the most original and effective filmmakers in Hollywood.
José (2018)
One of the most realistic depictions of romance ever put on film
Form beginning to end, this film never fails to capture the true nature of relationships. It almost too brutally showcases the heart-wrenching struggles of relationships, and how truly incomprehensible the extra strife that gay people go through is. Anchored by a top notch performance and brilliant use of the Guatemalan landscape (physically and socially), this film delivers layers that will stick with you.
An American Pickle (2020)
Trust me it's not as bad as the reviews say
I'm a big film guy and this movie's not that bad. If you like Seth Rogen and wanted to watch it, you should. It hits what is going for quite well and is surprisingly funny. Definitely don't regret watching it
Da 5 Bloods (2020)
Some hiccups but a great film
Spike lee does it again with another great film. The performances from the main cast is fun and the chemistry is great.Delroy Lindo deserves an Oscar nom for his performance. It deals with unique subject matter and perspectives. For the commentary and how the film explores racial issues regarding to veterans in particular, I give da 5 Bloods a 10/10. My problems with this film are more minor but still bugged me . The cinematography did not feel confident throughout the whole film . Some shots look great with a distinct style and vision and some shots just feel lazy. For the most part I actually enjoyed the way the plot turns out. It does feel a little Tarantino esc at times but thats a good thing. Some of the minor characters that appear in the film really bug me and I don't understand their purpose. They gave good performances but just they're presence in the film hurts the tone and kind of took me out . Their parts of the film doesn't have much relevance and I would say a good 20 minutes couldve been chopped out of the film.
Overall it's still a great movie 👌 Like always spike lee dives deeper into civil issues than you can find from almost any Hollywood director. There is a ton to take away from this film and it is entertaining through and through. I can understand why some people wouldn't enjoy this film but it is undeniably a great one.

Ad Astra (2019)
Ambitious and Unique; Great message
Ad Astra does not intensely follow the rules of science nor does it try to. It is made to entertainment and use space as a setting to highlight the importance and impact of human relations . The plot may seem random at times, but even the oddest scenes teach us a lot about the behavior of our protagonist (Brad Pitt). The film is a slow burn that pieces together ideas and emotions. The third act with Tommy Lee Jones is when the film really comes together. The message of the movie comes together with Pitt's performance, and even scenes with little dialogue are emotionally rich. The chemistry and performances Brad Pitt and TLJ are outstanding but subtle. The film also does a good job of creating a unique world through things like The Moon now being a tourist destination, (monkey in space ?), And moon pirates. Overall this is a really ambitious film that suceedes where a lot of other space movies fail imo. Great performances all around and jaw dropping cinematography.
Dalkomhan insaeng (2005)
Great film , wish it had a little more substance
Don't get me wrong this film is great. It is well acted and the lead role is nailed by the veteran actor. The dialogue is sharp and the action is well done. Like many Korean action films, there's definitely a lot of subtle substance in the film, and more deciphering you have to do. This I can respect and it's important for films like this to be great films and not just big scene action movies. Some of the scenes are genius, like when they are racing to reload the guns. Overall I wish there was just a little more substance. There are a decent bit of similar revenge/action films like this , which takes away a little bit from this movie. That's why I wish there was a little more substance, to really dive in and make this even better. They had very emotionally powerful themes going on, so if It was a little more reflective or had a few more big dialogue scenes this movie would have been a masterpiece.
Nonetheless, this film is extremely entertaining and I would definitely recommend to fans of other K-Action films or just action movies in general.
