Black Mirror: Striking Vipers (2019)

Anyone can change their sexuality online...
7 February 2024
Unfortunately, this LGBT thing is taking up more and more space among authors.

And it is becoming more and more abstruse. It already bothered me in the series Gen V with these dialogs that sexuality is just an acquired construct. Which is total nonsense.

Now this stuff is also starting to take up space in one of my favorite series, Black Mirror.

While other episodes are simply brilliant and show the dark developments in technology. Other episodes are simply cult for me: USS Calister. Or simply poignant like the episode: San Junipero. One of my all time favorite episode.

With this episode I was just annoyed and rolled my eyes.

It's just nonsense what the writers wrote.

I think Black Mirror has reached its peak.

Time to shut the show down if better writers don't come along.

Waste of time

I found the movie very weak. I really disliked the main character: her appearance, her actions.

Then the perpetrator and the rest of the plot, absolutely hilarious.

The whole thing with her father didn't get me anywhere either.

Then the son and his completely stupid behavior regarding his girlfriend and her child with someone else.

I think the director got lost in the movie.

I think everyone has their career peak or their peak of creativity and Paul Verhoeven showed with this movie that his was long gone. He should rather enjoy his retirement and perhaps support younger directors.

I think you can safely spare yourself this movie.

Better Call Saul (2015–2022)

The First 2 Seasons are weak!
2 February 2024
I've just finished watching Better Call Saul.

I started it years ago and then kept watching it from time to time.

Surprisingly, the series gets off to a very weak start! The first two seasons were tough and boring, the whole lawyer story was uninteresting. I was surprised that the series wasn't canceled back then, but thanks to the Breaking Bad bonus, people kept watching. The character of Charles McGill was extremely annoying, that whole storyline. With season 3 it slowly got better as characters from Breaking Bad appeared, thank God.

So you have to be prepared to endure 2 and a half seasons for things to pick up.

With the introduction of the characters from Breaking Bad, the pace picks up and the stories become much more interesting, because I think that's why a lot of people kept watching this show.

The fact that episodes were shot in black and white was also stupid.

Within an episode with color to make flashbacks recognizable, ok. But not almost 2-3 episodes in a row completely in black and white.

The ending wasn't mine and doesn't fit the character of Saul Goodman from the previous 5 seasons at all.

For me, the series is an 8.0.

The Expanse (2015– )

THE Best Science Fiction Show ever!!!
28 January 2024
For me, this is the best science fiction series ever!

The impressive plot alone with the different parties was worth its weight in gold and made it the most realistic science fiction series, plus the cast was absolutely perfect.

The show was so refreshingly different from all the lame and annoying Star Trek and Star Wars stuff!

The Expanse just seemed very adult and realistic.

I could never wait until a new season was out.

And when it starts to get even more interesting, The series is simply stopped. I still don't understand it today!

And now you have no choice but to enjoy the books to find out what would have happened next.

Foundation (2021– )

Very interesting and well-made science fiction show
28 January 2024
I was and still am angry that The Expanse was canceled and was looking for a new science fiction series.

Foundation came at just the right time to satisfy my hunger for science fiction. The series is very good and improved with season 2, and you can tell that the production didn't skimp on the money.

I really like the story with the Empire and the 3 genetically identical leaders. I find the individual characters very interesting so far and the cast is also very well done! Seldon, Gal, Dawn, Day & Dusk and Demerzel are perfectly cast.

I just hope that the series won't be artificially stretched out!

An acquaintance told me that the creator of the series wants 8 seasons.

Honestly, I'd rather have 5-6 seasons and tell the main story properly than build up more and more subplots and love stories and then have more seasons.

Why am I writing this?

Given the thickness of the Foundation Trilogy book, I doubt there's enough material for 8 seasons.

I have the book at home but haven't read it yet, so I can't make a comparison between the book and the series.

One criticism I can think of about the series: The LGBT upbringing...there are gay couples in the show all the time.

Please stop educating the public. We get it. And I say that as a completely non-religious and liberal person.

Surprisingly fun entertainment! 🎃
30 October 2023
After seeing the film, I am very surprised at the negative reviews.

I don't understand why the film is rated so badly.

We liked the film very much. But we hadn't seen the trailer or the imdb rating beforehand and didn't know what to expect.

I had seen the film with Eddy Murphy a very long time ago, but I don't remember it at all.

All I know is: This new one is much better ;)

We especially liked the humour!

The individual characters fit very well and we liked them all.

I was pleased that Danny DeVito and Owen Wilson were in it. Both characters have funny lines.

I recommend everyone to give the film a chance.

A cool film for a nice Halloween evening 🎃

Surprisingly Bad
5 October 2023
1. The character Jordan Li ... with his "powers". Come on... Enough with this lecturing.

2. The main character's powers are not to be taken seriously. Golden Boy would have fit better as the main character of the series or as a main villain.

3. In addition, the poorly written stories. The decisions of the characters are stupid. The authors were only interested in bringing the next big surprise.

If someone expects something like the Boys or xmen then he is wrong here.

It's more like a poorly written teen show on energy drink.

I don't know if the original comic was already bad, but better writers would have been needed here.

It is really a pity. They could have made much more out of it.

Watchmen (2019)

Frankenstein Watchmen ; the original story from Alan Moore is million times better!
17 December 2019
Its something new and its not good. The twists are not well written and the whole story is dumb. The whole white-supremacy-afroamerican-thing is boring for me. Perhaps we here in Europe don't understand the whole thing.. My question: What does an African American have to do with slavery in 2019? Behause of the skin color he inherits a right to it? it is ridiculous.

My opinion: no one, no matter what skin color, has the right to refer to slavery in 2019. The colored victims of that time cannot be apologized and the white offenders cannot be punished. In 2019, no white or colored person has anything to do with slavery. It is ridiculous if someone refers to it and then uses the "we" or "you".
