The Walking Dead: The Storm (2019)
Season 9, Episode 16

Worst episode so far
18 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
There are so many things in this episode that just don't make sense. It would seem that people who have survived this long in a zombie apocalypse would be able to make better decisions, even in the midst of chaotic weather. I understand certain things are done for the sake of perpetuating the story, but this was so forced that it was insulting. The entire premise of the show is about suspending disbelief, but there are certain things that defy logic. A simple example is the choice to move into an abandoned dwelling, thinking it would serve you well when you know it was abandoned by someone else because YOU helped ruin it. That's all.

The cinematography was great!
13 April 2024
The only thing I really liked about this movie was the cinematography, and the special effects. Everything else was flawed, superfluous, idiotic, and self-serving to Hollywood and journalists. The trailer for the movie is fairly misleading because it feels as if there is going to be a purpose. There is no purpose.

I was hoping this would be the type of movie that would serve as a warning against impending strife in the US. I was hoping this would give a glimmer of hope toward a better future, or at least a glimpse into a terrible future. This had neither- - No hope, and no warning.

Although I don't mind movies that start in the middle, I prefer when they actually have something to say, or something to make you think. This had neither.

Just watch it
19 January 2024
Sometimes insanity doesn't follow a predictable pattern.

I picked this movie because it was the first thing that came up, and the thumbnail was intriguing.

The tension in the movie was palpable, and the performances were superb. At no time did I feel like I was watching actors, but people really caught up in an illogical nightmare.

This is a movie to send to your friends with no explanation - just tell them to watch it.

Both of the main characters reminded me of people in situations from my earlier life, and I could easily sympathize with both sides.

It is amazing that I had never heard of this one, or had ever even seen a trailer for it. I may watch it again.

I could easily see Michael Cera and James Franco playing the main roles in a bigger-budget film, but this one was perfectly cast with actors I didn't previously know.

So bad it's good!
30 June 2023
This is one of those movies that will have you screaming at your TV because the characters are doing things that no one logically would do. It's an entertaining romp through the start of the zombie apocalypse. Don't expect any award-winning performances or thoughtful, plot lines. There are enough stars in this movie to keep you entertained, but, don't let that distract you. This movie serves a purpose, and it's to show you how much smarter you are than the characters. Do, indeed waste your time, watching this one, as it shows you exactly what not to do. I gave it a middle of the road rating just for its laugh factor.

Is this only OUTTAKES?
23 June 2023
I was really hoping the season will take off and wrap things up. If this episode is any indication, it is going to fail miserably. This episode is terrible with the worst acting from seasoned actors. It seems like they took only the cutting room footage and pieced it together into an episode, and T hey forgot to record the actual production footage. I am only 33 minutes in, and I want to turn it off and forget about the entire series. Hopefully it gets better. The repeated lines, and the back-and-forth nature of this episode makes it seem like they had no clue of what to do for the season opener.

This could've been better
10 December 2022
I imagine a tremendous amount of work went into making a movie like this, but for the plot to be so cliché, and the characters to be so shallow, weak, and unreal, I consider this a major failure.

I love a good disaster movie and this wasn't it. For a movie of this length, they could have fixed some of the shortcomings, but the ridiculous back-and-forth was a waste of time. I'm not saying to not watch it, but do learn from it.

Also, there are certain actors who ruin movies for me. This one has that actor. When I saw his name in the credits, I should have turned it off.

The formula for this story has been overused, and shows a true lack of imagination.

BORING AND SLOW
6 September 2022
Tilda and Idris or two of my favorite actors, so I was really disappointed to sit through this movie.

They both have some poor quality films in their lineups, but they usually do good work. The talents of both are truly wasted here.

This movie could not hold my attention, and left me wondering why it was actually made.

The story is slightly interesting and may have worked as a 20 minute short, but it is not material for a full-length feature film.

If you want to take the gamble and still watch it, at least wait for it to come out on a streaming service or on disc.

Make sure you've had plenty of sleep, and caffeine before sitting down to this.

I liked it better when it was called...

ALIENS

There was so much borrowed from aliens, aliens three, and other movies. They even have a Newt character, and a Hudson character. I was expecting to hear some of those catch phrases like "stop your grinnin' and drop your linen", or "they mostly come at night - mostly".

Of course, I would have taken off and nuked the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Dumb, Long, and Boring
30 June 2022
This was the worst episode of the series I have seen so far. The resolution of the story took way too long, and didn't make any sense. There were too many moments that required a suspension of disbelief, and those moments were not even important. Hopefully the situation will not recur as it will prove there is absolutely no creativity left in the series.

Updated After-School Special
28 April 2022
I really enjoyed this new-age after-school special.

There were no award-winning performances, and the timing was a little forced, but overall, it worked.

The intentionally awkward scenes were done properly and kept me engaged.

The teen facial expressions were on-point.

This movie did not require me to commit to anything, and was very predictable, but that was part of its charm.

Timely, and "in your face"
14 December 2021
This movie exposes the psychosis of a time of pandemic. It holds tightly to a thread of logic in the face of great fear and intense control.

This movie makes us take a hard look at the dystopia we are currently designing, and in some cases desiring.

The mixture of well-known, and little-known actors is very entertaining.

Of course, there are moments where disbelief must be suspended, but any futuristic, or sci-fi work will have the same problem.

Some of us will be able to see through the low ratings and understand the political hate of a movie like this -- especially NOW. Just watch it and decide for yourself.

Not terrible
15 October 2021
This movie was much better than expected given its original rating before this review. There are many obvious moments, and many typical Hollywood moments that make you wonder why they spent money to make this. I agree with how the action played out, and I agree with its conclusion. Getting from point A to Z requires the suspension of disbelief in many moments, but it was a fun ride.

Super-lazy hole-filled plot
6 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Reluctant veteran saves world, and therefore family (as a residual effect).

It's 2021, and every movie-watcher with a keyboard can be a critic. I am included in that group.

Why would so many people be sent into the future to fight, come back mangled, and/or die, but when the perfect solution appears, bureaucracy steps in to hinder THAT solution?

So, in the fashion of "The Day After Tomorrow", only ONE person can be responsible for saving the future, and the present.

This movie borrowed heavily from Alien, Armageddon, and The Day After Tomorrow, Battle: Los Angeles, Interstellar, and also any non-specific time-jump movie where perfect timing in both directions must be used to cover plot holes.

The mending-of-the-family heart-tug was cheaply done where only SAVING THE WORLD could fix generations of relationship problems.

The climate-change plug was also a cheap play when CLIMATE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM -- it was any disturbance of any kind (except that crash-landing didn't cause a disturbance).

Now, if they had some "scientists" from all countries inside the ship doing experiments, and that got out of control, it would be a little more forgivable.

Scientist/good Alien1/bad Climate-change/bad Alien2/worse Paradox (future-people in current time)/forgotten

Great action, though.

On the edge of my seat
21 June 2021
Every episode this season is better than the whole first season. The next season could have more episodes. Of course, with all sci-fi, some suspension of disbelief must occur or there would not be a story. I am completely pleased with the direction of the show, and this episode has me longing for more. Of course, I will watch both seasons through again!

Best Troi Episode
13 May 2021
I liked this better than any other Troi-centric episode.

She does not cry, and is used in an unusual manner.

Although some of the makeup is badly applied, it can be forgiven.

The story is a little shallow, and the security team is weak in order to support the weak story. All-in-all, I stayed engaged with the entire episode.

Prepare for the inevitable.

This episode is getting us ready for the final.

It does not stand well alone, as it needs the entire series for context. Even so, there are some real Gallagher moments in this one, and there is not much sadness knowing it's all about to end. Good job!

This episode had everything!
7 February 2021
Just when I was concerned that the writers would run out of material, they come up with this. Maybe this episode should have been called True Colors as each faction was in it's primal form, and true to its being. There are many true laugh-out-loud moments that keep this show fresh even in its 11th season.

Too much AGENDA, again
6 November 2020
When every episode has to promote a political, social agenda, or Hollywood agenda, it ruins the story. I could understand once per season for each concept, but putting it in every episode is annoying (at best).

The touchy-feely, sappy, sad crew content was overdone, and could have been shortened if the writers actually had some content.

The punchline to this story was worth about 15 minutes, so the rest felt like idea-board scraps.

I'm ready to give up and find something else to watch.

Very Underrated
26 October 2020
What an underrated show! I stumbled across it by accident, and watched the first (and only?) season over the weekend.

Certain pieces were quirky, corny, slow, and forced, but were necessary for the conclusion. The sci-fi aspect to the show really hit home when they realized they had choices.

The casting was PERFECT -- and I cannot stress that enough.

This is a message to all divorced people, or anyone with questions about their choices. You don't need to disrupt your entire timeline to make better choices concerning your attitude and relationship RIGHT NOW.

I LOVED THIS SHOW. Please don't create a sequel. It is perfect as-is.

Cliché to the MAX
9 October 2020
This episode, and the two leading up to it are so cliché they make my head hurt. After many attempts, I was finally starting to enjoy STE, but this writing, and acting makes me furious. Why would AUGMENTS not actually look, act, think, lead, and rule like AUGMENTS? This was the weakest concept I have seen so far in the series.

What an unusual story.
6 September 2020
The dichotomy of the families involved, especially how they live, makes the whole story! What a refreshing take on an unusual theme. This seems like something made by a Tarantino fan! I want that house!

Sakura is great

Sakura is great in this. It really shows her acting ability, even though in-person, she seems timid. This was a fantastic introduction before seeing her in her musical career. This is a good show, and I will watch it again.

One of my favorite movies
6 September 2020
This movie, regardless of genre, has become one of my favorites. At first it seemed a little bit cheesy, but after watching it all the way through, it's very comprehensive, and logical. I absolutely love the young star who plays Su An. I have watched this numerous times, and it is suspenseful, and great every time! I recommended highly. As an added bonus, it is a Korean zombie movie, and right now, that is unusual!

Don't believe the negative hype
6 September 2020
There are only a few Disney movies I like. This is one of them. Another is Beauty and the Beast the original (animated). Live action requires some difference from the animated version. This provides it. The scenery is beautiful, the actors are good and appropriate. The star is beautiful! The action was fantastic, and suspenseful. The storyline is as it should be, and I recommended very much.

I felt bad for him
5 September 2020
This is the kind of garbage washed-up artists release when they actually have nothing to produce, but want to still seem relevant. It's unfunny in an insulting manner. This is kind of show that requires you to buy-in to something you don't believe just to feel better about wasting your time or money. When every leftist comedian tries to cover the same material, it becomes difficult to say something fresh. Well, this, also wasn't fresh. Please have something funny to say (if there is a) next time.
