Green Book (2018)

Simply outstanding!
26 February 2024
Honestly, I don't even know where to start with this review.

I always knew I was going to enjoy myself when settling into a 2+hr Viggo Mortensen film, as I've enjoyed pretty much everything he's done, but this, this might be his masterpiece, and yes I've seen lord of the rings, eastern promises and captain fantastic just to name a few. Viggo is absolutely sensational here and it definitely helps that he had an equally amazing performance from Mahershala Ali to work with.

This movie has so much heart and soul is just radiates off the screen, the paring to the two main leads carriers it all the way home. It Tackles some very serious stuff but it does it in a great way. If you haven't seen 'Green book' don't wait any longer and enjoy. I promise you will be laughing and crying all the way to the end credits.

An outstanding reunion
21 October 2022
As a big fan of Martin McDonagh's work it made my day when I watched the first trailer for banshees, to see Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson reunite after the equally as good 'In Bruges' made my soul happy as it's one of my favourite movies.

This movie can make you laugh at is dark humour and make you cry with some heartbreaking moments, all driven forward by two outstanding lead actors, Farrell especially is absolutely outstanding here.

Some may find it a slow starter but stick with it and you'll be very well rewarded it's beautifully shot and amazingly acted.

Here's hoping we see all 3 reunited again at some point.

Do not waste your time!
9 October 2022
They have absolutely butchered this franchise probably beyond repair, the first 2 films are fantastic horror movies while 3 and 4 are terrible.

It hurts to see the Jeepers Creepers franchise in this condition as the first film is one of my all time favourite horror films, but we're to begin with this? First off the acting is atrocious beyond laughable. This film has possibly the worst use of green screen I've ever seen, you would think this film was made on a budget of a penny. But this films biggest crime is the creeper himself, what have they done! The creeper was a horror icon from the first 2 films but they decided to basically change his entire look for this.

To sum up, don't waste your time or money on this rubbish. If they make another Jeepers Creepers film and after this I doubt they will, but if they do they need to do much much better.

Nostalgia can be a powerful thing
1 October 2022
While the first film has now gained the status of cult classic among its fans, I'm not sure the second will gain such high praise. Thankfully all three actresses were able to reprise their roles as the Sanderson sister, with Bette Midler especially having a lot of fun.

The film clocks in at around 1 hour and 40 minutes, perfect run time for a film such as this. I can see many of the fans of the first film enjoying what they see here but I can also see many fans of the same group not enjoying it.

After so many years maybe it would have been better to let the first film stay the first film but nostalgia is powerful and I'm sure many people will enjoy letting there inner child lose again watching this, just don't expect another Halloween classic.

Monster (2022– )

Absolute brilliance from Evan Peters
26 September 2022
Yet again one of the most underrated actors of our generation knocks it out of the park. Peters becomes almost unrecognisable as he portrays Dahmer and gives easily his best performance to date. This show is definitely not one for the faint at heart, it's unsettling and disturbing in many ways. But for those that love the true crime aspect and haven't a weak stomach will have much to enjoy here. Each episode breaks up bits of Dahmer's life and in no way glorifies him. The show does a fantastic job, especially with Peters staring as the killer, of showing just how much of a monster he really was. A must watch for true crime fans.

Far to long for far to little
5 June 2020
This film clocks in at around 2 and a half hours long and it simply can't keep the viewer invested that long, the characters are dull, the plot of the film doesn't Make much sense at all and the biggest name in the film is a minor character at best. If you like good action Heist films this will probably not satisfy you in anyway.

If you want a great heist movie with plenty of heart and decent acting go watch 'The Town' which is also on Netflix.

Does Joaquin deserve an oscar?
16 October 2019
I've been a fan of Joaquin Phoenix for many many years and have seen him jump headfirst into many complex characters but he goes above and beyond here. This is possibly his best performance to date and yes he definitely deserves an Oscar for his work.

But does him deserving the Oscar make him better than Heath? If you compare Joaquin Phoenix to Heath Ledger your denying yourself the chance to see the film clearly, both of them are the best at the joker they brought to the party.

The fact this came from the direction of the director that brought us the hangover is amazing because it's possibly the best dive into mental health in film history.

Definitely go see this, for Joaquins performance alone it's well worth it.

Was there any need for a 3rd?
15 October 2019
The 3rd film in the now 'firefly trilogy' and honestly I can't see why Rob felt the need for it. The film comes nowhere near capturing the brilliance that was Devils Regrets. The characters are seriously hit and miss, Bill Moseleys Otis is once again the best acted character by a long way, Baby is laughably over the top this time out and the newcomer 'foxy' in place of Captain Spaulding which is boots he simply couldn't fill, I know Sid Haig couldn't do a lot in this film due to his ill health but the film misses him seriously.

It's not a terrible film but it's definitely not a zombie great and it should have ended with Regets
