Amazing!

The only time I stopped smiling throughout the entire first episode was when I was laughing. What a treat this show is. I can't wait for more.

Rolling My Eyes So Hard I Think One Got Stuck
28 September 2018
Why, oh why do people write kids as if they're adults? It's totally unbelievable. Have the writers ever met a child? I don't want to disparage the young actors, they do a good job. It's the writing, the awful, unrealistic, tacky writing. 3/10 for hiring a great cast, shame about the rest.

Disappointing
21 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
**SPOILERS!**

If I were to describe Iron Fist in one word it would be "lame". I didn't like the main guy at all, he's just too vanilla, too young looking. I just never bought him as any kind of a warrior whatsoever. Every scene where he had to show anger or pain I felt like it was like looking at kittens play fighting. I hated that they just basically had him be a spoiled child for the first half of the series too. We're talking about a guy who was intensively trained for thirteen years or so, day in, day out, to master his emotions and be a warrior, and he's acting like a toddler with diaper rash. One scene in particular stands out for me, and highlights how most of the characters don't act like real people, it's the part where he gets to meet the psychiatrist to be assessed. Anyone with even the slightest modicum of intelligence would play it cool, state their case, and hope he signs him out. Not our Iron Fist though, he decides it's a better idea to throw a tantrum, push the doctor's computer monitor off the desk, and talk about magic powers. I haven't face-palmed that hard in long time. I thought the dialogue was clunky and the exposition was forced, they just don't act or speak like real people at all. I thought what they did regarding his spirituality was very, very poorly done and it just came off being extremely cheesy. The fight scenes weren't too bad but I've come to expect better after Daredevil, and I know it's not Netflix, but the action scenes in Agents of Shield have raised the bar too. The things I liked were Jessica Henwick, her performance was good, she was great in the action scenes and, for me at least, she was the best thing about the show. I also liked Tom Pelphrey, I thought he gave the best acting performance, and I really liked his character. I felt very sympathetic for his position, he was trapped by his evil father, it was either do as you're told or you and your sister die. I enjoyed his arc, especially when he kills his father, great acting for those scenes and the following scenes too I thought. Overall I give it a 5/10. It had promise but was ultimately a big let down.

Absolutely Terrible
12 August 2016
There really aren't many positives that I can think of for this movie. I chuckled a couple of times, but most of the time I was thinking 'what the hell is this?'. I can't believe this came from the same writer that wrote for Freaks and Geeks, and the same director from Bridesmaids. I don't even know who the target audience is, the humour is so juvenile that only a very young child could laugh at it, but it also contains a few swear words, so who is it for exactly? The ghosts are terrible, they look like The Haunted Mansion ghosts, or a Scooby Doo movie. I'm very disappointed in Wiig and McCarthy, I really liked Wiig in everything I've seen her in except this, and I've been a fan of Mike and Molly since the show's start. I'm honestly flabbergasted that this got made. Considering that most sequels are worse than their original counterpart I think that if they made a sequel to this drivel that it could possibly be the new worst movie of all time.

Unfortunately It Didn't Have A Budget
1 May 2016
I think this can be best described as a good effort. The acting is terrible, how some of these "actors" got their jobs I'll never understand. They shouldn't ever even perform in a commercial. Other than the, at times, terrible dialogue though, writer and director James O'Brien actually does a good job. The soundtrack is decent and flows nicely along with the plot. The premise is good though I really wish it had a better budget to get the best out of it. Mostly it's the awful acting that brings my score down. I think it's a shame really. If you're bored and you like Westerns I'd recommend you give it a go, despite my problems with the lack of talented actors it somehow managed to hold my attention till the end. So it can't be all bad.

It got better!
15 December 2015
I previously posted a pretty scathing review of this show on IMDb, but it's a show that got better with the second season and continues to improve. I hated the first season, I honestly think it's garbage. I'd recommend starting off on the second season if you haven't watched it before. I can't remember a TV show that's changed my mind so much in so little time. Credit to the writers, producers, and cast, great job!

Not the best Sherlock but very good nonetheless.
13 January 2013
I liked the first 11 episodes, I thought the stories were compelling and I liked the characters. I was dubious at first though, and I did compare it to the BBC's Sherlock series but I wanted to give it a chance, judge it on it's own merits. I'm glad now that I did, the 12th episode was great, the introduction of the mysterious Moriarty was very well done. I get the impression that as smart as Sherlock is, Moriarty is one step ahead, and it's only been one episode where he's even mentioned. As a stand alone detective show it's average, not really bad but not exceptional, but now with the way they've introduced Moriarty I have high hopes for the future. This could be a very good show and my rating is subject to change but so far I've been well entertained and intrigued to know how the story proceeds. The acting is solid from everyone and I get the impression that those involved are serious about the shows future. I hope I'm not disappointed but I guess that depends on how many others really give this show a fair chance. I've separated it from Sherlock in my mind, it's not as good but it's an entirely different story and a good one nonetheless. Definitely worth a watch in my opinion.

The Change-Up (2011)

I know you know I know.

Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all know we've seen this movie before, we've seen it many times with many different actors. It's the standard fare for a body switching movie. Two people are unhappy or unfulfilled with their lives and wish they could switch with someone else. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence type of thing. Then *gasp* some magic happens and they actually do get to switch bodies. What happens then is they both struggle with each others lives, then start to love it, then pine for their old lives back when they learn the lesson that their lives weren't so bad after all and they should count their blessings and be happy blah, blah, blah. Like I said, we've all seen this movie before. So why do I give it the high rating of 8/10? Well, that's simple, because we've all seen this movie before and we know what's going to happen even before we've seen even the trailer, the thing you have to ask yourself is: is it funny? The long answer to that is yes it is, very funny and each of the cast is brilliant in their respective roles. The short answer is simply, yes.

So to sum up, you've seen it before but this is funnier than most. Well worth a look at least but I really enjoyed it. 8/10

The amazing story of one of the most important soccer teams in world history, and they're American?
7 March 2011
"The rise and fall of the N.Y. Cosmos. The soccer team that brought Pele to America; against the backdrop of N.Y. City in the 70's. "

The recently reformed New York Cosmos are thee American soccer franchise. In 1970's New York they were the biggest thing to hit the city since the Afro. A shining star for soccer in the worlds most Cosmopolitan City, they brought the game to a new audience. Unfortunately, the star collapsed almost as quickly as it was born, but it left a lasting mark on the American psyche. This is a really well told story about a piece of N.Y. City history and not just for those who are acquainted with the game. I wish there were more like this. 9/10

One of the best shows ever!
24 June 2010
I don't think there's anything about this show I don't like, the comedy is top notch, the actors are perfect for their roles and the mix of Sci-Fi is just right, not too heavy handed. For comedy lovers it's a must see, for sci-fi fans it's a must see, for people with a heartbeat it's a must see. Lyndhurst and McGuire are perfect, you'd really believe they're best friends, the chemistry between all the actors is amazing. Hats off to the casting crew and direction. Actually the only flaw I can think of about this show is that it ended. After all, what show could make you nostalgic for a time period you weren't even alive in?

I'd give it a 20 rating if I could.
