A great tale
2 November 2023
First thing I read when I sought reviews was all the arty critics slating this series.

These critics, as far as I'm concerned, have no idea!!!

I think it's a heartwarming story and thoroughly captivating.

Critics from the most well known establishments (yawn) are always keen to rip a good thing to shreds. They are always trying to sound extremely clever! They should not be listened to. You need to make your own mind up and believe me you will enjoy this story.

Mark Ruffalo is criticised but I think he plays a great part as Papa. And Hugh Laurie also plays a great part. How dare you tell me that these two brilliant actors warrant your ridicule!

The part played by blind actress's young Marie and older Marie are inspirational.

Not the best

Found this movie pretty boring.. I get that this was Dahmer when he was a youngster leading up to his depravity. When the end came I was seriously disappointed. Not what I was expecting at all. Yawn!! Personally I think it was a poor attempt to portray a serial killer before all the bad stuff happened and was just very beige and lacklustre. I just lost interest early on and didn't really feel any of the characters were particularly interesting. Yes, he was a weirdo and a very awkward character, however, I felt no empathy or in fact anything at all regarding any of the characters and especially the main character.

Epic!

I took a while to start watching this. Eventually I thought I would give it a try. To be honest it was a slow burner for the first couple of episodes but then I was drawn in and hooked.

It's got everything! Bar fights, politics, love, hate, tears, tantrums, family feuds, family love, good ole shoot ups, history, big mountains and big skies!

It touches all the emotions... you laugh, you cry and you get drawn in and find an empathy within this family.

It's been compared to a modern day Dallas... it's way much more than that ! It's tough and it feels real!

Best thing I have watched since the Ozarks and much much more!!

Boring

Warning: Spoilers
Extremely boring. Nothing comparable with GOT. I think the storyline is ok but I was expecting more action. GOT used to have me on the edge of my seat. I actually dozed off when I was watching episode 4! Maybe it's a slow burner, a VERY slow burner. I will carry on watching in the hope it improves but so far I am far from impressed. Matt Smith is not a believable character ... he's very much public school boy and makes for a pretty poor villain/hard man. I think the casting is very poor and I'm struggling to relate to any of the characters. I've been very excited about this spin off but I feel very let down!

Heartwarming

If life's getting you down this series is heartwarming. I've only watched season 1 but looking forward to 2. I read some of the critic's reviews and some go on about, it's written by Ricky, directed by Ricky the main character is Tony (Ricky Gervais again) but to me that just proves what a genius this man is. A message to the critics.. stop trying to be clever and dismissive of one of the best actor, director and writer that has come out of this country.

If you haven't watched it or you're considering watching it, I say to you, try it as it's brilliant!!
